Madeline's POV
Two months later, my life did not change in a whiplash.
A lot of things remained the same.
A word, a memory, a passing resemblance in someone's voice, and suddenly I would feel that same hollow drop in my chest, that same disorienting shift between what I had believed and what I knew now.
Things between Liam and me were also more or less the same, except that we were more open to each other now.
There were no secrets, no holding back, no holding back about how we felt about each other or the bickerings, of course.
Our dance team did not qualify for the college fest; there were better teams, of course, but participating in that fest helped me regain my confidence, and I was able to step into the spotlight once again.
After graduation, I joined a contemporary dance class, and I discovered dance was my form of therapy.
Liam rarely came home now, so I'd steal Victoria away from Evan and have sleepovers with her.
