Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Unveiling the Blazing Wings

"Awooo—!"

A long, piercing wolf howl shattered the silence of the night sky.

This was not just a simple howl—it was a signal summoning the entire pack.

As the sound echoed through the valley, the ground trembled. Leaves on the forest floor were lifted into the air by the gusts stirred up by the approaching wolves.

The energy fluctuations in the air grew intensely volatile.

"Prepare for battle!"

Xie Yue shouted, and the three of them quickly formed a tight triangle formation, standing back-to-back just as they had trained.

They immediately released their martial souls and soul rings.

In the blink of an eye, hundreds of Gale Demon Wolves had already surrounded them from all directions.

Their eyes were filled with wild brutality. Each wolf bared its long fangs and razor-sharp claws, as if eager to tear the three of them to pieces.

Amidst the wolf pack, a particularly massive Gale Demon Wolf slowly emerged.

This wolf was distinct from the others—its fur was thicker and glossier, and every step it took exuded power and authority.

Its gaze wasn't just wild—it carried an innate sense of majesty and dominance.

That sharp gaze, like the edge of a blade, locked onto the three of them, as if assessing their strength.

From the overwhelming energy radiating from its body, Yan could tell without a doubt—this was the leader of the pack, the Wolf King.

By carefully sensing the aura it emitted, Yan estimated that it had at least ten thousand years of cultivation.

What was even more terrifying was that several other massive Gale Demon Wolves stood close by, each nearing the ten-thousand-year threshold as well.

At this moment, the atmosphere felt suffocating.

The only sounds were the low, heavy breathing of the wolves and the tense breaths of the three humans.

They all understood clearly—there was no way they could win against this overwhelming force.

Xie Yue and Hu Liena could combine their martial souls to unleash Charm Demon, a fusion skill of immense power. However, its area of effect was not large enough to engulf the entire wolf pack.

Moreover, a martial soul fusion skill consumed an enormous amount of soul power. Once the technique ended, both of them would be left in a weakened state, unable to continue fighting.

Besides, they had already expended some soul power in their previous battle with the smaller group of wolves and had yet to fully recover.

Against this relentless onslaught of Gale Demon Wolves, they had no chance of victory.

Yan knew that Bibi Dong valued Hu Liena greatly and had likely sent Elder Yue Guan and Elder Gui Mei to secretly protect her.

For a place as perilous as Death Canyon, sending just one of them would have been sufficient.

Perhaps, at this very moment, one of those elders was watching from the shadows somewhere in the canyon.

But with Yan's current level of strength, he was unable to sense the presence of those two formidable powerhouses.

Of course, this was merely his speculation.

Even if they were truly here, they wouldn't take action unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Nana, use your invisibility skill to escape when the time comes."

"Yan, use your flames to open a path so we can break through and leave this place."

Seeing the wolves growing restless, Xie Yue quickly made a plan.

Hu Liena had demonstrated her invisibility skill to them once before, but it was only a brief demonstration that hadn't consumed much of her soul power or mental energy. This meant she could still use it again today.

"Brother, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have provoked them."

Hu Liena felt guilty, realizing that she was now paying the price for her recklessness.

"Nana, don't think about that now. Get ready!"

Suddenly, the wolf pack launched its attack.

With a furious roar from the Wolf King, dozens of Gale Demon Wolves charged at them at lightning speed.

They were so fast that Hu Liena didn't even have time to activate her prized invisibility skill.

Xie Yue gripped his Moon Blades tightly, preparing to engage in battle. But just as he was about to move, an intense wave of scorching wind surged toward him.

The next moment, he felt as if he was being wrapped in something, and his body was suddenly lifted into the air.

Hu Liena let out a surprised scream as she, too, was swept up by an immense force and carried skyward.

It was Yan—he had unfolded his Blazing Wings!

Like a phoenix reborn in flames, the fiery red wings shone brilliantly in the night sky.

Yan held Xie Yue with one arm and Hu Liena with the other, soaring straight into the heavens.

The wind howled past their ears, and the ground beneath them shrank rapidly.

The sudden ascent left Xie Yue and Hu Liena stunned, their hearts pounding as if they might leap out of their chests.

"Yan… you… you can fly?!"

Xie Yue's eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Yan.

Yan's gaze remained firm. Facing the fierce winds, he replied calmly,

"We'll talk later! If you're feeling dizzy, just close your eyes."

His wings beat even faster, and like a meteor streaking across the sky, they rapidly distanced themselves from the wolves' territory.

Below, the wolf pack howled furiously, but all they could do was watch helplessly as their prey escaped.

The thrill of breaking free from danger and regaining their freedom filled the trio with indescribable relief.

After soaring for some time, Yan found a relatively safe place and descended.

As soon as their feet touched the ground, all three of them let out a sigh of relief.

Hu Liena was still shaken, staring at Yan as if he were a stranger.

She simply couldn't believe how much he had changed in just two months.

"Yan, what's the deal with those wings?"

Xie Yue couldn't contain his curiosity and asked again, completely intrigued.

Yan explained,

"This is an external spirit bone. I unexpectedly acquired it when absorbing the spirit ring of a Skyfire Fox."

As he spoke, he calmly retracted the Blazing Wings.

Xie Yue and Hu Liena exchanged glances, their expressions filled with shock.

An external spirit bone—such a rare treasure—had actually fallen into Yan's hands!

"You actually obtained an external spirit bone? And it gives you the ability to fly!"

Xie Yue exclaimed loudly, his eyes brimming with envy.

A spirit master capable of flight had a massive advantage in battle.

Aside from those with bird-type martial souls who were naturally born with flight, most spirit masters couldn't fly until they reached rank seventy or above.

With these Blazing Wings, Yan's strength had undoubtedly skyrocketed.

Both Xie Yue and Hu Liena realized that the gap between them and Yan had widened once again.

Hu Liena, however, couldn't understand something. She questioned him,

"Yan, you obtained an external spirit bone—why did you hide it from us?"

There was a hint of displeasure in her tone, though even she couldn't tell if it was jealousy or anger. It felt as if she was blaming Yan for keeping such an important secret from them.

In the past, if Yan had obtained something like an external spirit bone, he would have eagerly run to her, showing off and promising to protect her better.

But this time, he had said nothing.
