Chapter 220 - Chapter 220: Togetic and Flaaffy’s Training

Silas looked on with deep satisfaction; his little one had finally grown up.

As the white light enveloped it, Togepi's appearance visibly changed before his eyes.

He felt a slight weight in his arms.

"Toge~"

With a joyful cry, the new Pokémon appeared in Silas's embrace.

Togetic, a small, bipedal Pokémon.

The eggshell from its Togepi stage was gone, and its body color changed from bright yellow to white, though the red and blue triangular patterns still remained on its small belly.

With a long neck, long legs, and a pair of wings on its back, Togetic looked almost angelic.

It leapt into the air, flying around in a circle. Pink, sparkling energy particles rained down on Silas and the other five Pokémon around him.

Silas reached out and touched the particles.

The moment the pink light met his skin, it merged into his body.

A warmth and happiness surged from his heart.

This was Togetic's "Happiness Dust", which legend says it shares with kind-hearted and pure people.

"Alright, little one, come over so I can see you."

Silas waved to Togetic.

The little Pokémon, amazed by its newfound ability to fly, zipped around the air, spinning and diving.

Hearing Silas call, it quickly flew into his arms.

"Whoa!"

Even though Silas was prepared, he was still pushed back several steps by the impact.

Togetic, acting playful, flapped its small wings to show off to Silas.

It didn't actually need its wings to fly.

Togetic could levitate without flapping its wings, so normally one could hardly hear the flapping.

"Alright, alright, I get it—you can fly now."

Silas lifted it onto his shoulder using its two small arms.

Now that it had grown taller, Togetic could no longer simply stay in Silas's arms like it had as a Togepi.

Silas quickly checked Togetic's body and found nothing wrong, then let it continue training its flying ability.

A familiar blue screen appeared.

Silas felt he had checked his Pokémon unusually frequently today. Perhaps this was a happy kind of worry.

Togetic

Category: Happiness Pokémon

Type: Normal (Fairy) / Flying

Height: 0.7 m (average 0.6 m)

Weight: 4.1 kg (average 3.2 kg)

Ability: Serene Grace (slight)

Hidden Ability: Super Luck (slight)

Moves: (Newly Acquired) Ancient Power, Yawn, Follow Me, Baton Pass, Baby-Doll Eyes, Encore, Wish, Swift, Thunder Wave.

Level: 28 (Normal)

Potential: Elite Four

Training Plan: Evolutions like Togekiss can learn a wide range of offensive and status moves, including Flying-type attacks. Togetic's training should focus on enhancing these abilities.

Training Routine: Dash, Return

Although Togekiss will eventually lose arms, moves like Drain Punch and Brick Break can still be performed using its triangular wings.

Considering Fighting-type moves are highly effective against Togetic/Togekiss's potential counters—Rock, Ice, and Steel—mastery of these moves is important.

Recommendation: Maintain constant levitation during training, as Togekiss's small legs make ground movement difficult.

Togekiss's type is Normal (Fairy) / Flying, and it has strong Psychic potential.

Diet can be optimized by adding a small amount of Micle Berry (slightly boosts Psychic power) to daily food.

Analysis suggests Lum Berry (enhances Fairy-type) can replace Sitrus Berry (Normal-type) in energy cubes.

The detailed energy cube crafting plan was provided by the system, causing Silas to chuckle.

Looking at the excited Togetic flying around, he silently prayed for its future challenges.

During its Togepi stage, Silas had not imposed strict goals. It learned moves from teammates or trial and error, which explained its surprisingly broad move set.

If it weren't for innate difficulties learning moves like Solar Beam or Flamethrower, it would have learned even more.

This wasn't a big problem, since Togetic still focused on support moves, like Follow Me and Baby-Doll Eyes, which rely on coordination with teammates for maximum effect.

As for who created the training plan—Silas had already prepared it in advance.

The system's only shortcoming was intelligence: it could analyze current data but could not predict future training directions. For instance, it couldn't create the daily progress chart Silas had made for Torchic.

"Pidgeot, come over here."

Silas called over Pidgeot, intending to have it teach Togetic the basics of flying.

Since Pidgeot had been familiar with flying since Pidgey's stage, it was the natural choice as instructor.

"Pii~"

Pidgeot flexed its strong wings and chest, confidently accepting the task.

Teaching flying was far easier than training other skills.

"Also, teach it Brave Bird, Air Slash, and Steel Wing."

Hearing Silas's instructions, Pidgeot nodded knowingly.

It's just like when Scyther taught me before—easy.

Pidgeot was eager to get started; it hadn't expected to have a day where it would be the teacher.

"Go ahead, but don't pass your habits onto it," Silas cautioned. "Actually, don't go too far—just train nearby."

He quickly changed his original plan.

He had initially thought about having Pidgeot take Togetic on long-distance flights for gradual practice, but he was worried about accidents.

Although both were Flying-types, Pidgeot and the future Togekiss focused on completely different strengths.

Considering differences in body size, moves, and battle tactics, their flying techniques and habits were still quite different.

Pidgeot prioritized speed above all: If I'm faster than you, you can't hit me, and I can hit you—so I'll likely win.

Its flying techniques were mostly to compensate for the reduced agility caused by its large body.

Naturally, it was also more offensive.

Togekiss, on the other hand, would pursue mobility and finesse, performing rapid ascents, aerial tricks, and agile maneuvers—these would become its specialties in the future.

Its small size gave it a natural advantage in aerial combat.

Precision maneuvers in tight spaces were its tactical focus, combined with various moves to deal continuous damage.

"Blaziken, Gigalith."

Blaziken perked up, ears alert, energetically responding.

Gigalith also readied itself.

"You two, move a bit further back for real combat training, so you won't disturb Servine or Flaaffy.

Also, don't destroy more than 20 trees while sparring."

Silas calmly explained the task.

Unnecessary damage to the environment was not allowed—rangers would make sure you paid the consequences.

But minor accidents were inevitable during real combat training.

It was normal if Pokémon couldn't control their power perfectly as they improved.

Blaziken nodded knowingly.

Stretching its arms, it led Gigalith to move back.

Taking advantage of the break, Silas called Flaaffy over.

Flaaffy stood beside him, small sparks occasionally flickering over its remaining fluffy wool.

Silas felt tingles all over his body—exciting, yet slightly uncomfortable.

Instinctively, he reached out to touch Flaaffy's rubbery-textured skin.

Pokémon really were extraordinary; they had evolved this feature to prevent electrocuting others.

Flaaffy rolled its eyes, thinking its trainer's habits were strange—but it said nothing. Let him touch, I don't mind.

It had a somewhat irritable personality, but it still respected Silas.

At most, it would complain to Blaziken during rest—but even then, it vowed not to overthink it.

Silas withdrew his hand.

"Your next task is to master and refine Electric-type energy. Everything should focus on increasing your strength.

We've gone over the theory of Charge Beam before—it's basically a special application of electric attacks, with a little magnetic concept added.

I won't repeat that here. Your progress is good, but remember: when using Charge Beam, speed matters. Faster beams hit harder.

Next, a more advanced goal: now that you're Flaaffy, your ability to store electricity is stronger and easier than it was as Mareep.

Remember one of the previous hypotheses? Today's goal is to maintain a charged body while performing a combined Electric attack, aiming to master Charge Beam."

Silas carefully explained.

Charge Beam is an Electric-type attack that fires a beam at the opponent. When fully charged, it can sometimes raise the user's Special Attack.

The "charging" Silas referred to wasn't the move itself, nor the boost for the next Electric attack.

It referred to Flaaffy's innate ability to store electricity in its wool until it overflowed.

Charge Beam itself wasn't difficult—just a compound Electric attack.

Combined, these created a unique effect.

Power wasn't the focus; the base power of Charge Beam was only 50, just 10 higher than Thunder Shock.

The key was the potential Special Attack boost afterward.

Researchers estimated this boost probability at about 70%.

With rigorous training and increased mastery, strong Electric-type Pokémon could raise this probability to 80–90% or higher.

This would give a future Ampharos a significant advantage in battle.

"Using electric currents to enhance physical strength is postponed for now," Silas told Flaaffy.

Flaaffy nodded seriously.

Silas wanted to turn theoretical knowledge from his previous life into practical application—but it was challenging.

Using electricity to stimulate cells for physical enhancement often failed, especially for Mareep, who was immune to minor currents due to its type.

Stronger currents backfired, and Fire-types like Blaziken couldn't benefit because of interference from their own energy.

Silas decided this level of enhancement wasn't worth pursuing.

Overall, it was somewhat useless, though it worked on himself—tedious, slightly painful, and taxing for Pokémon.

Electric currents created a tingling, mildly painful sensation that Silas didn't want to experience again.

Mareep also exhausted itself controlling electricity; one session nearly drained half its vitality.

Silas reverted to Gigalith's gravity-based training method instead.

"Done."

Blaziken returned, slightly disheveled, signaling the task was complete.

"Pidgeot, it's your turn; Togetic, follow it quickly."

Silas paused his conversation with Flaaffy and called the two Pokémon.

Pidgeot and Togetic, chasing each other in the air, immediately entered training mode.
