Chapter 4 - CHALLENGES AND DEALS

The gates of forestzone opened, and as Zayn packed in his parking spot, his housekeeper was immediately waiting by the door with an umbrella.

Zayn turned to Dream at the same time she started to open her eyes.

"Oh shit!" She cursed as she popped her eyes open. "I can't believe you allowed me to fall asleep!"

She grabbed her phone, and discovered there was now internet service. So she started to dial Crystal when the phone went off.

"Oh my God! It's dead!" She turned to him with a look of horror in her eyes.

He sighed, and opened his side of the door.

"Wait, you're going to leave me in my predicament?"

"You're coming or not?" He asked, as he stepped out and was swiftly covered by Moose Baker, his housekeeper.

"Sir, I didn't know Miss Rachael was coming with you," he said, just as Dream stepped out of the car.

"Go cover her," he ordered, and continued ahead in the rain.

Moose turned to Dream, and his eyes widened when he saw it wasn't Miss Rachael.

He didn't say anything, but quickly went to cover her from the rain.

Dream looked up at him, and muttered a quick thank you.

She waited patiently until they arrived inside the house, before she increased her footsteps to catch up with Zayn.

"Hey Mr, novice. I really need to charge—oh my God, why is your apartment so dark?" She asked, pausing in her heels.

She heard the flicker of a switch, and then everywhere became illuminated.

Zayn turned to her, and as she looked up at him, her heart tugged again.

He was now also wet from the rain, which gave his hair a messy salivating look.

"I'll find a charger for you," he simply said, before disappearing through a turn.

She took a deep breath, and touched her chest.

"What is wrong with you?" She questioned, hitting it a few times.

She decided to use the opportunity his absence brought to snoop around.

From what she could see, she was in a large living room. Its decor was part white, and part black.

Everything was neatly arranged. From the flawless carpet on the ground, to the walls painted white but with artistic designs done with black paint.

"Neat and artistic? Too much like dad," she thought, as she continued to snoop around.

She was going to try the couch when she remembered her clothes were wet.

Instead, she diverted to the huge TV furniture compartments, looking for more personal items that would tell her a little about the strange man.

Immediately she bent to check, she felt a presence behind her and stiffened.

Slowly, and like a trapped rat, she turned and straightened up.

Her eyes scanned him to see he has now changed into more casual clothes that still fit him like a god.

"The TV is really big," she chortled nervously.

He clearly didn't find her amusing, as his face remained straight.

"Here, change into that. Give me your phone, and I'll plug it in." He stretched both hands.

"Okay." She nodded obediently, and his eyes bulged a little.

He had expected more pushback, because of how stubborn she was.

"Handle my baby with care. She's worth a lot," she said, as she handed him the phone.

He gave her the clothes, and moved away from her.

"Hey, am I supposed to change in your living room?" She called after him.

He disappeared into another room, without answering her.

"Why is he always doing that? Ugh!"

However, he returned just as quickly as he left.

"Take that door and go left," he said, before leaving again.

She did as he told her, and met herself in a pretty huge bathroom filled with feminine products.

"So he does have a girlfriend? Sorry for the unfortunate girl."

Dream changed into his clothes consisting of a large shirt, and sweatpants.

"God I look so domestic," she shuddered as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. "And you need to dry off," she said to her hair, as she took off the pin that held it together.

Her red luscious hair flowed down to her waist, with its fullness quite unnoticeable because of its wetness.

She used the towels she found in the bathroom to dry out some of the moisture.

"I think you look slightly much better now. Chin up Dream. It's time to assert dominance." she smiled at the mirror, before walking away.

But on her way back to the living room, she caught a glimpse of Zayn in another room, and walked into it to discover it was the kitchen.

A very large kitchen. Also all white, which she didn't quite think was the best choice.

"Where's my phone?" She asked.

He looked up, and inhaled discreetly on seeing her.

"Where's my phone?" She repeated her question when he just kept staring at her.

"Uhmm–" he coughed, and cleared his throat. "There." He pointed.

"You're charging my phone in your kitchen?"

He shrugged, and returned to what he was doing.

Dream scoffed, as she walked over to check her phone.

"Is this charger even working? My phone is still zero percent."

His own phone rang, and as he answered, Nathaniel spoke.

"You found him?" He asked.

"Yeah I did. But he's asking for confirmation."

"Alright. Hey, it's for you," he raised his voice so she could hear.

"Me? Who—"

"You'll find out when you answer." he cut her off.

She rolled her eyes at his rudeness, but accepted the call anyway.

"Hello, this is Dream Atticus."

"Wow it's really you!" Nicholas said before handing the phone to the delivery guy.

Dreams brow raised at his words, but when she heard the next voice, her eyes widened.

"Are you really miss Dream Atticus?"

"Oh my God, it's me! I'm sorry my car was crashed into on my way to you by this—" she looked towards Zayn the same time he looked at her. "I meant a man. Anyway, can I get the gifts now?"

"I'll give it to the guy, if you agree to it "

"Do you know the guy?" She mouthed to Zayn.

He didn't respond, but she realized it was his way of responding.

"Fine, give it to him. Thank you so much for your time. When I gain access to my phone, I'll send you compensation for your trouble. Thank you."

She handed the phone back to Zayn, smiling.

His eyes were a little distracted by that smile, as he hurriedly dismissed Nathaniel.

"You've been pretending not to be nice. I see your game," she said, her smile widening.

"Do you drink hot cocoa?" He asked.

"What's your deal? I don't even know your name. How do I pay you back?"

"Oh now you want to pay me?"

"Yes. You've been somewhat nice to me. Even though I've kinda been a bitch. I'm not always this cranky I promise. It's just this guy called Zayn Bass. Oh my God, you won't believe how he ruined my whole day. He had the nerve to want to snatch the land I bought to build a shelter for orphanage kids. How hideous can he be? And I'm talking both physically and mentally repulsive. Maybe that's why he hides his face. A monster!" She banged a fist on the table, as she kept ranting.

Zayn watched her, battling between amused and insulted.

"Sorry, I went off. That Zayn guy just makes my blood boil. So what's your name?" She asked.

He thought of the shock that would go through her if he told her he was the Zayn guy she was so disgusted by. But no, he had other plans.

"Let's make a deal," he said instead.

"What deal?" She crossed her hands over her chest.

The action called his attention, and he noticed the outline of her nipples were poking out.

He swallowed hard, and thought of his girlfriend, Rachael. The woman he actually trusted.

"I need to launch my company in the public eye. To do that, I need some sort of publicity only someone like you can give me."

"Hmmm, what kind of publicity?" She asked, eyeing him cautiously.

"Public dating. I assume the boyfriend of Dream Atticus would get a lot of attention."

"What?!" She chuckled, because he was out of his mind.

"You asked how you could pay me back. That's the only way I can think of." He shrugged.

"Let me get this straight. You want me to be your girlfriend for the duration it will take for you to launch your company publicly and get publicity? Isn't that an outrageous exchange for whatever you've done for me today?"

"No. So are you down or too scared that faking it might make it become your reality?" He asked in a challenging tone, guessing that was the only way to get her to do anything.

She scoffed. "I could never fall for a man like you. You're boring and uninspiring. You know what? You have yourself a deal. But how are you going to deal with your girlfriend? I know you have one, and I don't need a crazy woman following me around."

"Rachael isn't like you. She'll understand what needs to get done. So do we have a deal?" He stretched his hand to her.

"Deal." She accepted his hand.
