By the time Sloane arrived at her office, the weight of unfinished business pressed against her like a storm waiting to break.

Edward Harrington had been too quiet. Which meant he was planning something.

Lena was already waiting for her, tablet in hand. "You're going to love this."

Sloane slipped off her sunglasses, setting them on her desk.

"Go on."

Lena handed over the tablet. "Harrington's firm just released an internal statement. He's stepping down as CEO."

Sloane blinked once. Then twice.

She skimmed the document, taking in every detail. It was official. After decades of building his name in high finance, Edward Harrington was walking away.

"He didn't even put up a fight," Lena continued, shaking her head. "No last-minute scramble. No threats. Just… a quiet exit."

"Because he knows there's nothing left to fight for." Sloane set the tablet down, fingers tapping against the desk.
