Chapter 945: Only Fit to Be a Slave
"Trial?"
Mash was dragged away by Habenyan in confusion, the miniature fairy wearing an expression that suggested she didn't want to speak another word to Eiji.
"That guy definitely isn't a good person!"
"Huh? Why?"
"Intuition!"
Before disappearing, she left behind a very loud "whisper."
Eiji glanced toward the national highway, where the white wolf that had been lying there earlier had vanished without notice.
Having other matters to attend to, Eiji turned and left the wheat field.
"Hey, did you see that?"
One fairy snapped back to reality and excitedly pressed her companions.
"I saw it! I'd bet that must be the brightest star in Britain! Even brighter than Lady Aurora!"
Another wind-clan fairy clasped her hands over her heart, sighing with intoxication.
"Compared to him, our husbands are so boring!"
"I have a suggestion! The fewer people who know about such a human, the better! No, we should keep him all to ourselves!"
"Exactly! We can monopolize him and forget about our other husbands! Having just that one is enough!"
The fairies chattered back and forth, discussing the matter with cheerful, happy expressions.
The Fang clan soldier showed disgust on his face.
As if predicting what would happen next, he quickly left the wheat field without lingering.
"Schlick!"
Abruptly, blood splattered, staining brown claws crimson.
"I think having too many people trying to monopolize him is pointless!"
A woman as tall as a brown bear hugged her arms tightly in ecstasy, her face overflowing with an unconscious, pure, joyful smile.
"I can feel it—he's my purpose! Whatever my purpose was before, from now on he is my purpose! I've changed, you haven't transformed to this extent, right? Then I'm the most qualified one!"
"Kurma, you actually killed Jornish?"
"Don't shout, you're next!"
Kurma bared her blood-red beast claws, licking her lips that were curled up in pleasure.
"Wait, we agreed to cooperate!"
"Who agreed with you? I'm a powerful Fang clan member—why would I cooperate with trash like you who can't even touch Mors or iron weapons?"
As if hearing a hilarious joke, Kurma laughed scornfully.
Then she pounced into the group like a tiger among wolves, mercilessly slaughtering the companions she had been joking and laughing with just minutes before!
The humans working in the distant wheat fields saw this and panicked, scattering in all directions in terror.
"Oh right, and you, my dear husband!"
Kurma turned to look at the pale-faced human in her family's wheat field.
"Hmm, you can die too."
...
Overthrowing the Queen's rule wouldn't be easily accomplished.
The Queen's power was immense, especially when she sat upon that throne—the overwhelming pressure like an endless ocean made even Eiji helpless against her.
Therefore, Eiji planned to gather as many like-minded individuals as possible, unite their strength toward a common goal, shake the very foundations of Britain's rule, and save the world through indirect means.
At the very least, they needed to force the Queen away from her throne!
Only then would Eiji have a chance to defeat her.
Upon hearing about Sheffield from Bagst, Eiji rushed over without delay. On one hand, he wanted to find the fool who attempted to assassinate him; on the other, he aimed to harness the power of Sheffield—a city where rebels gathered.
He planned to use this place as a foundation to establish a forward base against the Queen's army, subsequently drawing in forces from Chaldea and other factions of Pan-Human History, as well as rebel armies dissatisfied with the Queen's rule.
However, to achieve that, he first needed to make a name for himself!
The best way to gain fame was to defeat the Queen's army and the Fairy Knights!
For this purpose, Eiji specifically had Bogart revive the Child of Prophecy plan, placing Mash in that position to lure the Queen's army with the Child of Prophecy and then defeat them!
This way, the forces opposing the Queen could get on the right track!
Moreover, thanks to Mash's presence, Chaldea would naturally come looking!
Originally, it would have been more reliable for Eiji to take on the role of the Child of Prophecy himself, but he had already caught the attention of the Queen and the Fairy Knights, making it unsuitable for him to operate openly. Thus, he had no choice but to let Mash step in.
This would undoubtedly be a harsh trial for Mash, so he deliberately tested her skills and found the results far better than he had imagined!
For some reason, Mash now possessed power on par with the Fairy Knights!
This was undoubtedly good news for the upcoming first battle!
Eiji suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Then he turned into a nearby alley.
Soon after, hurried yet heavy footsteps approached, followed by someone rushing into the alley.
"You're Kurma, right? Why are you following me?"
As soon as she entered the alley, she saw Eiji standing face-to-face with her.
He didn't disappear from my sight—great!
Kurma immediately felt relieved, a simple, honest smile spreading across her face.
"Hey, do you have a wife right now?"
She seemed a bit embarrassed, scratching the fur on her face nervously, like a young man experiencing love for the first time.
"A wife?"
Eiji narrowed his eyes.
He briefly assessed Kurma's tall stature, robust muscles, and thick fur.
"I do."
"You—?!"
Kurma's expression instantly turned ferocious, her killing intent blatantly displayed on her face.
Ah, this won't do! It makes me seem petty!
Realizing this, Kurma retracted her bared fangs and resumed her simple, honest smile.
"To be honest, I fell for you the moment I saw you!"
"That happens often."
Eiji nodded calmly.
"Uh…"
This response caught Kurma off guard, leaving her momentarily at a loss.
"Well… I want to marry you!"
Wow.
I should expect nothing less from a beastman—so direct!
The answer didn't require any thought.
But before that, Eiji had something else on his mind.
"You must have deliberately cleaned your fur before coming here, but the smell of blood on you is still overwhelming. What did you do earlier?"
"Hmm…"
Instead of answering, he's questioning me?
This left Kurma unsure how to respond.
If she bluntly said she killed many companions, she would surely be despised.
Fine!
"I killed my husband."
She scratched her head and truthfully informed him.
"...Husband, killed?"
Eiji's breath hitched. He had guessed that Kurma had killed someone—judging by the strong smell of blood, she had likely killed more than one person—but he never expected her to have killed her own husband!
"Aren't you family? Why did you kill him?"
"Family? No, no, of course not. That was just a game!"
Kurma repeatedly waved her hands, finally realizing that Eiji was an outsider who knew nothing about the local customs, so she patiently explained.
"Recently, it's become quite popular in Sheffield to marry a human husband or wife. It's just a trend, like playing house! Humans, at best, are only fit to be slaves. What kind of third-rate creature would be qualified to be my husband?"
