Chapter 948 - Chapter 948

Chapter 948: The Fairy Knight Attacks

"Talking to you about this is like casting pearls before swine!"

Eiji glared at Bogart as if he were hopeless.

"Let me ask you, what is your ideal?"

"Huh? My ideal?"

Bogart looked at him blankly.

"Let me rephrase. Why did you raise the banner of rebellion against the Queen?"

"What does that have to do with you?"

Bogart glared at him with displeasure.

One moment he was criticizing his city, the next he was asking such personal questions—this guy's behavior was far too self-centered!

Eiji lifted his leg.

Bogart flinched and instinctively jumped back.

But Eiji merely placed his leg against the castle wall, stretching and warming up.

"Why are you so nervous?"

He glanced over with a smile, the threat in his tone unmistakable.

"I won't yield to force!"

"Is that so? Then how about I drag you to the city center and beat you in front of your people?"

"It's for Norwich!"

Bogart straightened up, his expression turning serious.

"Norwich?"

"That's right. I'm a Fang Clan fairy born in Norwich!"

Bogart stood by the castle wall, gazing into the distance, his thoughts drifting far away.

"Norwich is a port city. The azure sea I saw as a child—I've never forgotten it... But now, Norwich is caught in the once-in-a-millennium Great Calamity!"

Bogart bared his fangs, his expression growing fierce.

"And the most hateful one is that Queen! She extracts half the life force from the fairies of Norwich every year, yet when Norwich faces a life-or-death crisis, she does nothing! She hasn't sent any Fang Clan soldiers, nor dispatched any Fairy Knights—not a single soldier has been sent to Norwich!"

"That cowardly Queen must be afraid of the Great Calamity, afraid of losing face if she can't defeat it, which is why she deliberately does nothing! If this continues, Norwich will be destroyed by the Great Calamity all because of her vanity!"

Bogart's face was filled with disgust and contempt for the Queen's inaction.

To be honest, Eiji didn't think that was the real reason.

He had faced the Queen directly and knew just how powerful she was. No matter how troublesome the Great Calamity might be, it probably wouldn't be a match for that Queen—after all, she had ruled over Britain for two thousand years and must have confronted the Great Calamity in the past.

Perhaps the Queen had other reasons for not taking action.

But the fact remained that she did nothing.

No wonder it provoked Bogart's resentment.

"So?"

"So I want to build my own forces and personally eradicate the Great Calamity in Norwich! And while I'm at it, take back Norwich!"

Bogart clenched his fist with ambition, a determination in his eyes that Eiji hadn't seen before.

Who would have thought that a Fang Clan fairy like him would have such resolve?

Eiji had been observing the fairies these past few days and had assumed all the fairies in Britain were hedonistic good-for-nothings.

Just as there are good and evil people among humans, fairies must also be divided into two factions of good and evil.

Take Barghest, for example—she is a member of the Fang Clan, yet she is a knight whom even Eiji admires!

"Currently, the calamity in Norwich is still gathering, but it could erupt at any moment. I must assemble a sufficiently powerful team before that happens!"

Boggart declared stubbornly.

Creating the Child of Prophecy artificially was also his method to build a stronger team!

"In that case, have you shared this aspiration with the fairies and humans of Sheffield?"

"There's no need for that. They only need to follow my orders!"

Boggart replied dismissively.

Eiji sighed.

As expected, it wouldn't work.

Boggart was a decent ruler.

But he could only ever be a ruler. His personality was somewhat self-willed, and he was overly enthusiastic about taking brides. If anyone hoped for him to achieve something great, they were likely to be disappointed.

It seemed Sheffield couldn't be relied upon either, as disorder was rampant everywhere.

"Sigh, does it really come down to finding a human-led resistance army after all?"

Eiji scratched his head and muttered under his breath.

Boggart's face instantly darkened.

"You say such things right in front of me—do you truly believe Sheffield is incapable of achieving anything great, and you don't care about my dignity at all?"

"Report—!"

A soldier of the Fang Clan rushed onto the city wall in a panic.

"What is it?"

"It's—it's terrible! The Queen's army is right before our eyes!"

"So soon? I thought they wouldn't arrive for another couple of days."

Boggart was visibly startled.

"Only a few days have passed since we proclaimed the Child of Prophecy, and they've already sent troops? Hmph, that Queen avoids calamities like the plague, but she's quite skilled at stirring up internal strife!"

"Lord Boggart, how should we respond?!"

"Don't panic! First, investigate the enemy's numbers. No matter how much importance they place on us, they should have sent at most one Fairy Knight."

Boggart remained composed. He had anticipated this day ever since he decided to proclaim the Child of Prophecy.

"That fool Tristan is out of the question—it should be either Gawain or Lancelot. Which Fairy Knight's banner are they flying?"

"It's Fairy Knight Gaw—Gaw—"

"Gawain? Then there's nothing to worry about. Though her firepower is fierce, it won't breach the walls I've meticulously prepared. They're made from the bark of the World Tree, with defensive capabilities no less than Camelot's walls!"

Boggart spoke with confidence, even breaking into a relaxed smile.

"No, it's not Gawain."

Eiji suddenly interjected.

"Not Gawain?"

Boggart looked puzzled.

The Fang Clan soldier beside him nodded nervously.

"There are three different banners—red, black, and blue."

Eiji pointed beyond the city walls, where a dark mass was already visible several kilometers away.

"Unless I'm mistaken, Tristan, Gawain, and Lancelot—all three Fairy Knights have come."

"Th—Three!?"

Boggart was so shocked he nearly choked.

"How is that possible? My scouts in the capital clearly reported that only one Fairy Knight was leading the troops here!"

"Either you were deceived, or they were deceived. Or perhaps the military orders were changed at the last moment."

Eiji thought of Bagst.

She clearly had a mission earlier, yet now she had diverted her path and come here.

This indicated that the Queen's army had likely changed their military orders at the last minute, transferring her to Sheffield's side.

Was the trigger the Child of Prophecy?

Or something else—it wasn't clear for now.

"Three Fairy Knights! They actually dispatched all the Fairy Knights at once! The defense strategy I formulated was based on the premise of one Fairy Knight..."

Bagst struggled internally for a moment, then turned his gaze toward Eiji beside him.
