Chapter 973: The Exposed Assassination Plot
Albion struggled to suppress the urge to charge in and stab that bastard to death.
"Melusine."
Two minutes later, as the call came from inside the room, Albion gritted her silver teeth, her face extremely grim as she opened the door.
At a glance, she saw Aurora's narrow-hipped gown had become somewhat disheveled, her golden hair tousled as if deliberately ruffled, with several prominent red marks particularly visible across her half-exposed chest.
Most importantly, Aurora herself wore a dazed expression, seemingly lost in pleasure.
Albion nearly shattered her silver teeth from clenching them so hard.
The impulse to send Salisbury flying grew overwhelmingly intense at that moment, even overriding her reason—she almost discarded her given name and revealed her true form—
But when her gaze fell upon Aurora's wings, she fell silent.
Those incredibly gorgeous, colorful wings that had dimmed slightly before now regained their previous dazzling brilliance.
Albion could only swallow her frustration bitterly, grinding her teeth until they bled.
"...What is it, Aurora?"
"Thinking back now, I realize how foolish I was before, Melusine."
Aurora breathed shallowly, as if she'd been short of oxygen earlier.
She snapped back to reality and smiled at Albion, completely oblivious to Albion's dark expression.
"To think I actually believed Her Highness the Queen Consort was a seductive temptress ruining the nation just because of momentary jealousy, even saying things like 'if that person had never appeared, this country would surely be better' in front of my subordinates. I'm afraid I've given them the wrong impression."
"Please, Melusine. They must be thinking of making an enemy of Her Highness now, which isn't what I want at all. Could you go stop them?"
Stop lying.
That's clearly what you truly believe.
"Fine."
Albion nodded and flew out through the window.
Infinite sound barrier clouds were left behind her as she raced at full speed, her violently turbulent emotions driving her forward as if trying to vent her inner frustration!
Fifty kilometers south of Salisbury lay the ruins of a fortress.
Hundreds of fully armed soldiers were stationed there—not a single one of them was a fairy. From the guards to patrols, squad leaders to commanders, without exception, they were all humans!
"Commander! Intelligence from our Salisbury informant—that nation-ruining seductress has entered Salisbury!"
"Prepare to move immediately! We must eliminate that ominous queen consort who brings misfortune to Britain!"
"If Lady Aurora said so, it must be true!"
"Our rebellion army owes Lady Aurora too many favors—we must repay her with all our strength!"
"BOOM!"
Just as the meeting room buzzed with fervor, a blue light descended from the sky, landing directly above the conference hall.
She smashed through the roof, landing on the conference table amidst panicked screams.
"By Aurora's command, cease all actions against the Queen Consort immediately."
She wore a mask, her voice cold as an assassin's.
"Fairy Knight Lancelot?"
The rebellion leader climbed up from the floor, patting his chest as he looked at her with post-survival relief.
"Have you brought Lady Aurora's 'Message of the Wind'?"
Message of the Wind.
That is a fairy of the Wind Clan, an ability that uses the wind to transmit messages.
When Aurora was approached by Eiji before, she used this technique to call Lancelot for help.
Typically, this ability can swiftly deliver messages, even easily spanning hundreds of kilometers. However, the more conspicuous the message, the easier it is to intercept, so there is also a method of having individuals carry it privately.
"None."
"In that case, I must refuse."
The leader brushed the dust off his clothes and looked at Lancelot with a contemptuous expression.
"You weren't defeated by that queen and now you're trying to deceive us with a fake order, were you? Though you may be a favorite by Aurora's side, I know your true standing in her heart. In the end, you're nothing but an ugly lump of flesh..."
"Fool!"
Lancelot cut off the leader's scorn with an icy laugh.
"The fact that I wasn't entrusted with a wind message means I was sent to deliver you all to hell!"
"Clang!"
Thin, sharp blades extended from her arms.
In the blink of an eye, what seemed like endless sword light swept through the entire meeting room.
In the silent stillness, the leader and several other captains fell to the ground in disbelief, their heads severed only then, blood gushing out like a fountain.
"L-Lancelot, sir?"
Soldiers who had gathered upon hearing the commotion stared in terror at Lancelot standing amidst the pool of blood.
"They defied Aurora's orders, so I executed them."
Lancelot retracted the blades extending from her arms, her tone devoid of emotion.
"Choose a new leader among yourselves."
After saying this, without waiting for the rebel soldiers to respond, Lancelot soared straight into the sky.
Leaving behind nothing but chaos.
And the rebel soldiers, eyeing each other warily as ambition gradually rose among them.
After venting her fury, Lancelot's mood improved slightly.
She soared aimlessly through the skies of Britain, her heart filled with confusion, unsure of where to go next.
"Yo."
Just then, a greeting came from not far away.
"What?!"
Lancelot was startled.
In all of Britain, was there really someone who could keep up with her speed in the sky, and even have the spare energy to greet her?
Turning her head in astonishment, she saw a cloaked figure standing on a golden light sword, flying alongside her.
"You again!"
The light sword was incredibly fast, not lagging behind her in the slightest, perfectly matching her godlike speed!
However, her eyes could also tell at a glance that the magical energy within the other person was rapidly depleting!
Maintaining such speed was trivial for her, but for him, it was likely an all-out effort.
Should she accelerate fiercely to make him lose face?
The thought of revenge crossed Lancelot's mind. If she left him in the dust, she might see his frustrated and unwilling expression. That would count as a victory, right?
"No, wait—when did you start following me?"
But she suddenly snapped back to reality, realizing a terrifying question.
"Finally caught on?"
Eiji stood steadily on the light sword, unfazed even by supersonic flight.
"I noticed you when you left Salisbury."
"You've been following me all this time?!"
Demon Orchid finally changed expression, his flight coming to an abrupt halt. The face beneath the mask turned extremely unpleasant.
"Correct."
Eiji also stopped his lightsaber, speaking with unshakable composure.
"Your mind is quite disordered, completely unaware of my pursuit."
Damn, if he didn't slow down soon, he wouldn't be able to keep up the act!
Counting the dwindling magical energy within him, Eiji clicked his tongue inwardly.
What kind of fairy exactly was Demon Orchid?
How could his mobility be so terrifying once he took flight?
Just like a human-shaped fighter jet!
