Chapter 980 - Chapter 980

Chapter 980: The Human Perspective

What distinguishes humans from beasts isn't the acquisition of intelligence, but the acquisition of morality!

The ability to restrain one's animalistic nature through morality—this is the most fundamental difference between humans and beasts!

Yet the fairies possess no concept of morality.

Even after thousands of years of war and baptism by fire, they still haven't learned the concept of morality, persistently adhering to pure hedonism from beginning to end, never learning to restrain their good and evil impulses.

They're no different from uncivilized beasts!

The fairy race is essentially just intelligent humanoid beasts!

Bagster showed a puzzled expression.

She couldn't quite understand Eiji's words—they were probably another perspective unique to Pan-Human History.

But his nameless contempt was perfectly written across his face.

The soldiers, including Bagster, all felt somewhat looked down upon, but due to his status, none of them spoke up.

"Never mind, I've lost interest."

Eiji let out a long sigh and turned to walk out of the city.

Knowing that the humans here were living relatively okay, Eiji lost his desire to cause destruction.

Though they lacked dignity, at least they were alive—much better than those humans who had become slaves to the higher fairies!

Bagster breathed a sigh of relief.

What she feared most was Eiji causing destruction here!

Although this was a facility under the Queen's name, as a human from Pan-Human History, the Queen Consort would likely easily empathize with the humans here and want to completely destroy the human ranch!

In that case, as the inspector sent by the Queen to check on the human ranch's condition, her position would become difficult!

Thank goodness.

Thank goodness he didn't see the more crucial parts—

"Wait."

Eiji suddenly stopped in his tracks without warning.

Bagster's heart nearly stopped.

"Why are there no middle-aged or elderly people here?"

Thinking back carefully, this human ranch only had humans in their teens and twenties—not a single human in their thirties or forties.

No, more than that—Eiji had traveled through half of Britain and hadn't seen a single middle-aged or elderly human either?

What was going on?

"This—"

Bagster's eyes unconsciously dodged his gaze.

"If this human ranch is only at this level, why were you so determined to stop me? And why have you been watching me so closely, as if afraid I might take action?"

Eiji turned back, narrowing his eyes.

"Is there something here that I haven't seen yet?"

He had to uncover the secrets of this place!

This was his stance as a human!

Even if he might not remain human in the future, as long as he considered himself human and maintained a human heart, that was enough. What his body became was always irrelevant in Eiji's eyes.

Physical changes were, at most, just a small price to pay for becoming stronger.

Having made up his mind, Eiji leaped lightly onto the roof beam by the roadside.

Bagster's expression immediately changed.

"Your Highness!"

Eiji's gaze swept across various locations within the city, where busy humans could be seen everywhere.

Except for one place.

The center of the town!

No humans approached that area!

And there were numerous fairy soldiers patrolling the surroundings!

That was the place!

Without a sound, Eiji vanished from the roof beam.

"Damn it!"

Noticing the direction of his gaze, Bagster's expression turned grim.

Without uttering a single word, she immediately rushed toward the town center at full speed!

Her pace was incredibly swift—faster than a galloping horse—as she dashed through the city like a gust of wind, instinctively ignoring the panicked screams along the roadside.

But it was still too late.

By the time she reached the town center, all she saw were the fallen fairy soldiers and the iron door that had been violently kicked open.

"Ah..."

Bagster let out a troubled groan.

She stepped forward and walked deeper into the factory.

Inside a vast workshop, Bagster found Eiji.

He stood before a large array of giant test tubes filled with green liquid.

"No wonder you refused to let me enter."

Eiji slowly turned around, his icy gaze piercing straight through Bagster.

"So this isn't just a pasture—it's a factory too!"

Looking around.

Everywhere were giant test tubes.

Inside them, green nutrient solution.

And infants whose eyes hadn't even opened yet, still attached to simulated placentas!

Beside them, words were written.

"In production... Hah, Bagster, what kind of reaction do you think I should have?"

Eiji grinned coldly as he asked.

A human pasture—how fitting the name was!

So, is this how all humans in this Lostbelt are created?

"Your Highness, please calm down and let me explain!"

Bagster immediately dropped to one knee, her expression filled with urgency.

"I'll give you a chance."

Eiji looked at her with a hollow smile.

"But think carefully about what you say. If there's even the slightest mistake, I won't hesitate to overturn this human pasture!"

"Thank you for your mercy, Your Highness!"

Bagster breathed a sigh of relief. As long as there was still a chance to explain, it was enough.

She thought for a long while before slowly speaking.

"This human pasture is the result of Her Majesty the Queen granting human rights to humans."

"...Are you joking with me?"

Eiji's face darkened.

Do I look that easy to fool?

"No, I wouldn't dare! This is the absolute truth!"

Bagster immediately bowed her head.

"If it weren't for this human pasture, the current state of human existence would be a hundred times more difficult!"

"Why?"

Eiji frowned.

Her words successfully dampened his destructive urge by a fraction.

"Because every fairy would try to create humans!"

Bagster's expression was complex, even tinged with disgust as she explained.

"This human pasture was established by Her Majesty the Queen 1,600 years ago, despite strong opposition—before that, humans were created arbitrarily by the fairies of various clans, even by individual fairies. Failed infants, premature births, malnutrition, congenital diseases... these were all too common! Every human was considered the property of those clan fairies or individuals!"

"It wasn't until Her Majesty established the human pasture that the situation improved! The Queen forbade the major clans from privately creating humans, strictly controlled human production, and centralized all human creation rights in her own hands.

Under unified technical management, almost no failed human infants were produced.

The humans born in this human pasture were then distributed in the Queen's name to the major clans and high-ranking fairies.

The Queen even recognized humanity's right to independence in the name of the law!

Human rights were barely guaranteed at a minimum level!

"Before this, humans had no such rights."

Bagster said with disgust, "I haven't experienced the era when human rights weren't protected, but just hearing about the kind of life humans lived back then makes me sick!"

Unlike the northern fairies who regarded humans as companions, the southern fairies saw humans as nothing but pure slaves!

Whether to beat or kill them was entirely at the whim of their fairy masters.

And what kind of creatures these fairies are has become abundantly clear!
