Chapter 982: The Queen's Court Session
Eiji surveyed the entire hall.
He bluntly ignored the curious and admiring glances the officials secretly cast his way, focusing his attention primarily on the several clan leaders.
He was meeting these clan leaders for the first time as well.
"Well then, pardon my presumption, but I—Sparrow, leader of the Earth Clan and Lord of Norwich—shall speak first."
As his earth-grey robe swayed, a middle-aged man with a slender face and golden hair tied up in a bun stepped forward.
His face was brimming with a shrewd smile.
Eiji narrowed his eyes.
So this guy is the Lord of Norwich, the leader of the Earth Clan?
Somehow, he feels more like...
"The Great Calamity gathering over Norwich is estimated to accumulate for another ten days before it erupts," Sparrow said, wearing a trademark merchant-like smile as he glanced around at the other clan leaders present.
"Might I ask who among you has assets in Norwich? You may transfer them now; I can have my subordinate fairies assist."
His words left Eiji speechless.
Assets??
Helping to transfer assets?
Instead of evacuating the residents of Norwich?
Is this that kind of lord?
"Falling headfirst into the money pit as usual, you gold-obsessed fool!"
No sooner had Sparrow spoken than he was met with an undisguised sneer.
"You stole that lordship from the original Sparrow, yet you act more like a fairy than anyone! The stench of copper on you is suffocating; can you just get lost?"
Eiji shifted his gaze to the second clan leader who spoke.
It was a fairy similar to Bogart. Though dressed in a deep purple suit embroidered with golden threads, appearing quite refined, it had the head of a wolf. Its sharp claws gleamed coldly, and its overall appearance was fierce and menacing.
It held its head high, looking down on Sparrow with contempt.
"Lord Woodwose, leader of the Fang Clan and Lord of Oxford, has the floor!"
The scribe promptly announced, informing Eiji of the werewolf's identity.
"Your Majesty, I propose increasing military provisions—triple the current amount! With sufficient resources, a mere Great Calamity is nothing to my Fang Clan!"
The werewolf Woodwose turned respectfully towards the Queen seated on the throne as he made his proposal.
So that's Woodwose, leader of the Fang Clan?
Eiji's expression grew slightly tense.
Incredible muscle density!
His skin and tissue are a hundred times tougher than steel!
Especially around his chest and abdomen; it's as if a storm is brewing there, accumulating astonishingly fearsome energy!
This Woodwose is far stronger than Bogart!
"These boring matters are all the same to me. May I log off now?"
A slightly irritated voice rang out, sounding deliberately affected—a very distinct loli voice.
This voice caught Eiji's attention.
Because the speaker was not physically present but appeared as a virtual projection within the hall to voice their opinion.
"My Gloucester is a neutral city. I want no part in dealing with calamities or anything else. Compared to these trivialities, fashion is much more to my taste!"
"Lord Muram, Lord of Gloucester and leader of the Wing Clan, please share your views!"
The scribe was a step too slow, his heart seized with panic, afraid of being blamed by the Queen, he hurriedly added his piece.
"I have no insights. Instead, I have an auction to preside over tonight. Can we wrap this up quickly?"
Muryan's blunt tone made Eiji feel that this loli was a bit too cocky.
From the projection, he could barely make out that she was floating mid-air, her physique resembling that of a two or three-year-old child, with a pair of wings sprouting from her back.
Through the projection alone, Eiji couldn't gauge her strength level.
But just seeing her face, Eiji was already jolted all over!
This cocky loli actually had a face straight out of the BB series!
She must be total trash!
Eiji concluded with absolute certainty in his heart.
"I abide by Her Majesty the Queen's command."
The last to speak was Aurora, leader of the Wind Clan and lord of Salisbury.
Like Muryan, she participated in the political affairs via a virtual projection, not physically present.
Due to the limitations of the virtual projection, Aurora couldn't see the figure of the most radiant person in all of Britain, which left her somewhat displeased, to the point that she couldn't even be bothered to mediate the conflicts among the clan leaders.
"The King's Clan leader, ruler of Edinburgh—Nocnalea is absent. The Mirror Clan leader, guardian of the Lake District—Einsel is absent due to unforeseen circumstances. That concludes the statements from all clan leaders!"
The officials and Eiji, among others, turned their gazes toward the Queen, who had remained silent until now.
The Calamity that had struck Norwich still hadn't been addressed with a concrete solution.
Although the high-ranking fairies living in Camelot didn't care about the survival of the Norwich fairies—in their eyes, fairies living outside Camelot were lower-class beings without any value to exist—they still cared about the Queen's stance.
"A mere Calamity is not worth troubling ourselves over."
The Queen remained seated on the throne, showing no intention of rising.
"I will use the
"This!"
"Her Majesty the Queen will take action herself!"
The civil and military officials erupted in an uproar.
Disregarding the previous command, all the fairies wore expressions of exhilaration, as if such an event hadn't occurred in centuries.
"Water Mirror?"
Eiji muttered to himself, what was that?
"Remember, I will not forgive you, nor will I save you."
"But this Britain, down to the smallest pebble, is my possession."
"Know that without my protection, Britain has no tomorrow."
The Queen's voice, cold as the depths of winter, echoed throughout the council hall.
"We bear this in mind, Your Majesty! We are your loyal servants, wishing to dedicate all our time to you, swearing eternal and unchanging loyalty!"
The civil and military officials immediately knelt en masse, each anxiously pledging their allegiance.
Even Bageko knelt.
In the hall, only Eiji and a few clan leaders remained standing.
"Officials dismissed. Clan leaders, Fairy Knights, and the Queen Consort remain."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
Upon hearing this, the officials sighed with relief and quietly exited the council hall, descending the stairs and disappearing from sight.
The virtual projections of Muryan and Aurora slowly faded away.
Soon, the vast council hall held only Eiji, the Queen, and a few others.
"Hum—!"
Without any visible movement, a mirror as smooth as rippling water surfaced before the Queen.
A crimson figure stepped out cautiously from within.
"Mother."
She gazed uneasily at the queen whose emotions never showed on her face.
"The order to raze Sheffield has indeed been carried out."
As if completely indifferent to her daughter, Morgan ignored her entirely, turning her icy gaze toward Gawain.
"But regarding the more crucial matter—the capture of the Child of Prophecy—you have failed. Do you have anything to say?"
