Chapter 1006: Thanks to Him Alone

"Whoosh!"

Dream clones roamed throughout the city.

One Mors after another was found and turned to ashes in the blink of an eye under the assault of the wind.

Before the rescued fairies could say anything, the dark figure would leave like the wind again.

"Is that Eiji?" Gudako suddenly spotted a dream clone and was surprised to see the iconic cloak.

Before she could collect her thoughts, another clone appeared nearby.

Throughout Norwich, each clone seemed to have entered hunting mode, ignoring everything else and focusing solely on hunting Mors!

"I had no idea Mr. Eiji possessed such an ability! I've never heard of it before!" Mashu, after defeating the Mors nearby, couldn't hide her astonishment.

"Incredible! At this rate, the calamity in the city might be quelled soon!"

Every dream clone was Eiji himself.

To conserve magical energy, the clones naturally didn't use supernatural abilities or Noble Phantasms. Even so, relying on his divine swordsmanship, he effortlessly moved through the battlefield.

He easily divided the entire Norwich into countless sections, soaring through them like an eagle. The Mors were annihilated upon sight, with none capable of countering him.

The chaos in the city was suppressed to the minimum in less than ten minutes!

"...Gudako? Mashu?" A dream clone passed by the two, taking two seconds to register their presence.

"I'm focusing on controlling the clones right now, so I'll be brief—gather the survivors and take them to the Earl's manor as much as possible!"

After saying this, the clone reverted to an emotionless hunting machine, indifferent to other situations, charging at any Mors it saw to cut them down instantly.

No Mors could withstand a second strike; even those that had swollen several times in size were instantly slain!

"Gudako... referring to me?" Fujimaru Ritsuka pointed at herself, looking confused.

"Probably... Senpai, let's hurry and take action too!" Mashu quickly went to rally the rescued fairies.

Gudako felt frustrated.

Although she had accumulated many strange nicknames so far, none had left her feeling so bewildered!

It wasn't just here; the same was happening in other directions.

Fairies attacked on the streets were being led to the manor by Artoria, Tristan, and others.

The battle dragged on like an old woman's foot bindings—long and tedious.

Eiji's mind was operating at full capacity. Even with his skills, he had to concentrate entirely on mobilizing his mental energy to barely control all the dream clones.

Through his relentless efforts, the number of Mors in the city drastically decreased, quickly dropping from over five hundred to less than one hundred.

Another clone headed to the eastern gate, continuously thickening the ice to block the Mors outside the city.

For a moment, the entire Norwich seemed to grow quiet.

In the manor.

"How marvelous! Even in the midst of a great calamity, I feel incredibly secure!" Peperoncino rested his chin on his hand, laughing uncontrollably like a Buddha.

Indeed.

The stranded fairies gathered here nodded in agreement, deeply moved.

Even as the great calamity raged outside, with tens of thousands of Mors wandering beyond the city walls, Norwich remained unbreached. Any Mors that appeared within the city were swiftly eliminated.

Everything appeared orderly and controlled.

A sense of security filled the hearts of all the fairies.

"This is all thanks to everyone's efforts!"

Pepe glanced at the group beside him and smiled.

"While I appreciate the compliment, we alone couldn't have achieved this much."

Da Vinci shrugged, a hint of embarrassment flashing in her expression.

"Truthfully, this is all thanks to him alone."

Admiring gazes fell upon the cloaked figure's back.

He sat cross-legged, head bowed low as if lost in a deep dream.

Everyone wore different expressions, yet none failed to show admiration—even Muramasa, who had clashed with him before.

"Honestly, he might be able to protect Norwich all by himself, don't you think?"

Da Vinci scratched her smooth forehead in puzzlement.

"It's quite surprising. I originally thought he would be the type to ignore the calamity, given how clear his objectives have been... What could have motivated him like this?"

Eiji's purpose in coming to this Lostbelt was to destroy it.

From that perspective, the emergence of the great calamity should have been exactly what he wanted.

Letting the calamity destroy the surface world would not only save him effort but also keep his hands clean, avoiding the burden of countless lives.

From his point of view, staying uninvolved would have been more beneficial.

"But he didn't do that. In other words, beyond mere interests, there must be some special emotion at play."

Pepe smiled.

Though phrased as a question, his tone carried certainty.

"One of the Six Supernatural Powers—Mind Reading? Impressive indeed!"

Da Vinci praised in admiration.

Pepe had long mastered the supernatural power of Mind Reading. His ability to see into others' hearts rivaled even that of Fairy Eyes; he must have seen through Eiji's thoughts from the very beginning.

Among the crowd, Oberon was using his skilled theatrical performances to help ease the fairies' panic.

He casually glanced at the cloaked figure.

The broad back was completely unguarded.

His blue eyes lingered for a moment, growing sharp and intense.

Suddenly, the cloaked figure shuddered.

Oberon promptly averted his gaze.

The cloaked figure paused briefly but showed no signs of waking, still immersed in his dream.

"How long has the great calamity been going on?"

Noticing that Gudao and Artoria were bringing back fewer and fewer rescued fairies, Pepe thought of something and asked the guard beside him.

"Exactly one hour!"

The guard checked the stopwatch in his hand and replied respectfully.

"What's wrong?"

Da Vinci gave him a curious look.

"Nothing... I just feel like the atmosphere in the air has changed, hasn't it?"

Pepe waved his hand lightly, as if brushing away his worries, and looked up at the sky.

"Now that you mention it, it does seem so!"

Da Vinci raised her staff, testing the magical energy readings in the air, and couldn't help but gasp in surprise.

"All magical energy values are declining... Could it be... success?"

"Hard to say."

Pepe narrowed his eyes.

"There's no sense of the calamity being repelled at all. Besides, a Mors horde of this scale barely qualifies as a minor calamity!"

At the same time.

The dream avatars moving throughout Norwich suddenly halted their steps at a certain moment.

"The flow of magical power has changed?"

Over a dozen dream avatars followed the direction of magical energy flowing through the air, turning their gaze toward Norwich's eastern gate.

No, to be more precise, they were looking further east—toward the endless dark sea!

"That is...?!"

Eiji's expression abruptly shifted.
