Chapter 1020: Kill Them All!
"Whoosh—!"
A winter-like gale howled violently through the air, forcing the shrubs on the ground to bow low.
Within the raging winds, several winged figures could faintly be seen.
"It's those fairies from the Wind Clan again!"
Habetrot narrowed her eyes, her small face contorting with intense indignation.
"How many times is it this month?"
Ector raised the two heavy hammers he carried, grinning fiercely with eager anticipation.
"Are we their target?"
Eiji pressed down on his fluttering hood, gazing at the approaching storm.
"Most likely."
A trace of sorrow flickered in Mash's expression.
"Why must there always be those who cannot bear to see peace arrive?"
Eiji fell silent for a moment.
When they had first met on the coast of Norwich, Habetrot had blurted out something like, "The Six Clans are causing trouble again." Considering the future half a year from now, it was easy to imagine the current mindset of the Six Clans.
Even after being defeated by the Round Table Army, none of them were willing to concede!
If open confrontation failed, they would resort to underhanded tactics!
No matter what means they used, as long as they could prevent the coronation ceremony from proceeding smoothly, Britain would ultimately remain the domain of the Six Clans—not ruled by humans, whom they had always despised as slaves and insects!
Since Londinium was heavily guarded, they would target Mash instead!
If they could kill Mash, who was essentially Uther's foster mother, Uther would surely fly into a rage. The waters in Britain would be muddied once more, and the era of fairies indulging in pleasure would return!
"Everyone, let's take care of them!"
"Roger! Leave it to this old man!"
"I'll help too!"
At Mash's command, Ector and Habetrot charged forward from the left and right.
Ector's heavy hammers could make the earth tremble with a single strike.
Habetrot, riding a glider-like loom, dropped countless incredibly resilient wing threads into the storm, tangling the winds into chaos. The unsuspecting wind fairies were swiftly bound tightly.
"Mr. Eiji, let's go too!"
"Alright."
Mash called out, gripping her shield as she charged straight into the gale. The immense force instantly tore through the storm, and with a single shield bash, she sent a wide-eyed wind fairy flying!
"Thud!"
The wind fairy, sent flying, was abruptly impaled from behind by a wooden staff, collapsing to the ground like a ragged cloth.
"How...?"
Mash was caught completely off guard.
She had never intended to kill anyone. Where had the attack come from?
"Don't hold back!"
Mash's voice rang out from behind them.
"Kill them all!"
Eiji glanced back.
Mash's face was expressionless, her magic staff having pierced through the void at some point.
She gently withdrew the staff, its bloodied tip glaringly returning to her hand.
Eiji's eyes darkened slightly.
Then, he too drew his holy sword Excalibur, unleashing a divine thunder strike. Dozens of golden lightning bolts descended from the sky, piercing through the enemies like spears!
"Kid, you're killing them too fast!"
Ector returned to the group, his face full of dissatisfaction.
Swinging the heavy hammer as if it were a child's toy, it seemed completely effortless.
"Miss Celyn, is it really necessary to eliminate them all?"
Mash approached with an indescribable expression.
Her face still showed traces of panic, clearly unprepared for killing.
"Mash, do you understand the nature of fairies?"
But instead of answering her question, Celyn remained unmoved and countered with one of her own.
"Even if we let them go, they won't feel grateful. They'll only think they luckily escaped from our arrogant hands, and after some time, they'll return without any psychological burden to harm us again."
"For your safety, we must keep all of them here!"
Celyn's tone was very firm.
No matter how much you argued, she wouldn't change her mind—this was the meaning that could be read in her voice.
"Isn't this being too sensitive..."
Mash's expression grew more hesitant.
"Enough, Mash."
Habe-nyan floated down from the air, patted Mash's shoulder, and silently stopped her.
"This is a reality we've experienced many times ourselves. It's not sensitivity or over-defensiveness. If we don't do this, just as Celyn says, those guys will come to harm us again and again, never reaching an end!"
"Little Mash, from what you say, it seems you've always been protected by many people until now, right?"
Ector also looked over, the corners of his bearded mouth curling with a hint of mockery.
"It's just a pity that the world doesn't only have happy endings where 'you show kindness, and the other party returns it.' In this fairy country, most fairies won't respect you for doing good deeds. They'll only find you troublesome, think you're unnecessary, and want to get rid of you!"
Mash was stunned and fell into silence.
To be honest, this didn't match her image of a savior at all.
But considering this savior's actions 2400 years later, everything suddenly made sense.
Perhaps, in such situations, Celyn's choice was the right one.
"This approach is quite good, isn't it?"
Seeing this, Eiji chuckled and interjected.
"If they're enemies, eliminate them swiftly! To be honest, this method actually suits my taste. Since they came to harm us, they should be prepared to be counter-killed. I believe they wouldn't have any complaints."
"More importantly, it's getting late. Should we find a place to camp?"
"Yay, I want to eat that thing called a hamburger!"
Habe-nyan was immediately distracted, looking eagerly at Eiji.
After he smoothed things over, the atmosphere among the group eased somewhat.
"Very well."
Celyn pondered for a moment, suppressing the idea of traveling through the night.
"Anyway, we'll reach the Great Chasm in two or three hours. Let's take tonight to rest properly and consider it building up our energy!"
If fatigue caused problems during the exploration of the Great Chasm, it would be too late for regrets.
"Celyn, what's happening to their bodies?"
Just as the group was about to find a clean open space, Eiji noticed a strange phenomenon and pointed in surprise.
Looking over, the bodies of the wind fairies were gradually withering, becoming elongated like dried wood.
Before long, the corpse had completely vanished, replaced by several pieces of rotten wood!
"You didn't know?"
Cnoc na Riabh instead looked at Eiji with some surprise.
"When fairies die, their souls are reincarnated into the next generation, while their bodies immediately turn into rotten wood. This is common knowledge in the Fairy Kingdom!"
"R-really?"
Mash, hearing this utterly unbelievable news for the first time, also appeared bewildered.
Ector and Habetrot, on the other hand, looked at them with strange expressions.
Eiji and Mash exchanged glances.
They truly hadn't noticed this common knowledge!
Among the fairy race, there is no concept of "burial."
In this Fairy Kingdom, only humans require burial after death.
When fairies die, they automatically transform into rotten wood, left exposed in the wilderness.
Fairy corpses that turn into rotten wood automatically become material for the land of Britain, becoming part of the solid ground beneath their feet - this is common knowledge known to everyone in the Fairy Kingdom.
