Chapter 1236 - Chapter 1236

Chapter 1236: No Mercy for the Japanese Military

Kojou Akatsuki finally unraveled all his doubts.

Why had he lost his memories from those two months last year? Why was the girl named Acolora living in his home? Why was this girl always fearful of others yet exceptionally affectionate only toward him?

Because he had met Acolora a year ago, knowing she was part of the Fourth True Ancestor, Kouryu Yabase, with the twelfth Beast Vassal stored within her body and the soul of the "Primordial" hidden inside.

However, his memories were stolen by the Fourth True Ancestor's Beast Vassals after the Feast of the Blazing Light, causing him to forget everything that had happened, Acolora's identity, and that he had placed her in his home.

He also forgot Eiji's warning at the time.

"As a vessel sealing the Primordial's soul, Acolora is a natural sealing container. Anyone wanting to retrieve something troublesome would inevitably target Acolora."

This was why the Japanese government dispatched the Lion King Organization to take Acolora away.

The Japanese government had discovered a Saint Destruction relic somewhere within the country but couldn't retrieve it smoothly, so they set their sights on the twelfth Kouryu Yabase near Kojou Akatsuki.

"We're here, Kojou."

As morning approached, Kojou Akatsuki rubbed his eyes and woke up.

Golden morning sunlight streamed through the airplane window, warming his body.

"Have we arrived? At Kannawa Lake?"

Kojou Akatsuki stood up and looked out the window.

Below the plane was a lush forest, and several kilometers away, a large artificial lake glowed golden under the morning sun.

"Both of you, we can only take you this far."

At that moment, a flight attendant approached with a troubled expression.

"What, can't we go further? I can handle the landing."

Eiji raised an eyebrow.

From this distance, it looked like they'd have to run five or six kilometers to reach the lake.

"No, it's not a landing issue."

The flight attendant's eye twitched nervously.

"It's the Self-Defense Forces... They just sent a message saying if we dare get any closer, they'll shoot us down on the spot!"

Oh?

Eiji looked out the window.

He hadn't noticed before.

All roads near Kannawa Lake were clearly under strict lockdown—no traffic in either direction, with numerous tanks and armed soldiers stationed around.

The tanks' cannons were already aimed at the plane, and the soldiers were fully armed.

"Self-Defense Forces? Why are they here?"

Kojou Akatsuki's eyes bulged in shock.

As a country bumpkin, he never imagined he'd have dealings with the Self-Defense Forces in his lifetime.

"Hahahaha! Kojou, is it possible..."

Eiji burst into laughter as if he'd encountered the joke of the millennium.

"...that the Japanese government is hoping the Saint Destruction relic excavated here will help them defeat the Third True Ancestor's fleet approaching across the Pacific?"

"Uh..."

Kojou Akatsuki was dumbfounded.

Now Japan's Self-Defense Forces should have deployed all their combat power to the Pacific battlefield. For them to spare personnel to come here, they must have extremely high expectations for the Saint Annihilation legacy in this place!

But how did this suddenly become related to war?

The news of the Third True Ancestor declaring war on Japan had become the hottest international topic these past few days. Of course Kojou Akatsuki knew about it, but he never thought it would have anything to do with him.

Who would have thought he'd suddenly get dragged into the Japanese government's plans?

Could life get any more absurd?!

"Open the cabin door!"

"Right away."

The flight attendant hurriedly opened the aircraft door.

"Um, are there any parachutes on this plane?"

Kojou Akatsuki gulped nervously, his anxious expression written all over his face.

"At this altitude, parachutes would be useless!"

Eiji kicked him.

"Hurry up and jump!"

"Yeeeaaaaahhh—!"

With a terrified scream, Kojou was kicked out of the aircraft cabin.

Immediately after, Eiji leaped out after him!

A flash of magical light streaked across the sky.

Kojou Akatsuki, who had been in free fall, suddenly seemed to defy gravity, floating mid-air.

"Wh-what's going on?"

The startled Kojou felt his heart pounding wildly.

"Stay here and don't move!"

Eiji landed beside him, quickly setting up several gemstone shields around him.

Then he swept past Kojou, plunging toward the ground below!

"It's not like I can move even if I wanted to!"

Kojou howled in protest.

He remained floating in mid-air, feeling relatively secure with the gemstone shields protecting him.

He had a vague impression that these things were quite powerful.

"BOOM!"

A thunderous impact sounded as dust clouds erupted from the ground.

"That guy... he's not planning to confront the Self-Defense Forces head-on, is he?"

Kojou gasped in shock.

The crazy bastard had landed right in the center of the Self-Defense Forces formation!

On the ground.

"Identify yourself! State your purpose, or I'll treat you as a terrorist!"

The fully armed squad leader nervously aimed his rifle, shouting at Eiji who emerged from the dust clouds.

"Get lost! You're not qualified to speak with me!"

In the blink of an eye, immense sword energy surged toward the heavens!

Eiji unleashed his full aura, infinite pressure radiating in all directions. The violent energy waves sent surrounding soldiers flying like shockwaves!

"Bring your commander to me!"

Eiji delivered a kick.

A several-ton tank went spinning away as if on ice, leaving black skid marks on the ground before crashing deep into the forest and smashing through dozens of towering trees.

"Open fire! Open fire!"

The squad leader nearly had a heart attack from the sight, screaming furiously.

"Rat-tat-tat-tat—!"

The soldiers reacted instantly, gunfire erupting like continuous rainfall.

"Hmph."

Eiji couldn't even be bothered to dodge.

In mere moments, he perfectly deflected every bullet that struck him, sending them all ricocheting back.

Firearms were instantly shredded by the rebounding bullets. Soldiers collapsed clutching their arms and chests, screams rising everywhere.

Eiji casually backhanded the squad leader, sending him flying.

Moving as if through a realm of no one, he charged rapidly deep into the forest!

He was quickly intercepted by the second and third squads.

Eiji decisively seized the tank and swung it like a wind-fire wheel in his hands, smashing it down like a heavy hammer—each strike creating a massive crater!

All onlookers were horrified, not daring to approach him even a step.

"There's no need to go that far!"

Kojou Akatsuki shouted with a soft heart from the sky.

"Clang!"

An artillery shell blasted toward him, but it was deflected by the gem shield, blowing the soldier carrying the RPG to pieces.

Kojou Akatsuki froze.

Without even thinking, it was clear that the soldier, realizing he couldn't defeat Eiji, had decided to target him as the easier prey, only to end up utterly destroyed.

Kojou Akatsuki fell silent.

"If you step onto the battlefield, you must be prepared to die!"

Eiji hoisted the tank's tread over his shoulder, a wild smile spreading across his face.

"I won't show any mercy to Japan's military!"
