Lilith's voice snapped Ella out of her trance and she tamped down the uneasy feeling in her chest.
"Are you familiar with my secretary? This is Eli," Lilith turned to the man, "Eli, this is Miss Yu."
"We are meeting each other for the first time, I believe," Ella smiled at the man who nodded in return.
Ella had never seen the man before, in both her lives. But from the looks of it, he seemed to be working for Lilith.
Yet, for some reason, his aura was beyond that of a secretary or an assistant.
"Oh, she is Ace's current girlfriend,'' Lilith said to Eli, like that was the highlight of Ella's identity.
She did it graciously but how could Ella not notice the hidden dagger in those words?
'Current girlfriend' Which partner in the world would be happy to be introduced as their partner's 'current'?
It was just a gracefully poisonous way of saying that: You're a temporary toy. Just one in the line.
