Chapter 13 - The Wolf Pack

Notes: My sincere apologies for the long wait. I was very busy taking care of my parents and other responsibilities. Anyway please sit back and enjoy the chapter. And leave a comment too. I love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

P.S. In the Mushoku Tensei English light novel and the Roxy Gets Serious English manga. One of the three kids bullies in Buena Village. His name is written as "Somal" and not "Somar." Although the name could be translated differently, depending on the language.

Three months later—middle of the morning~

At the crack of dawn, small traces of sunlight shimmered down upon Roxy, slowly waking her from a deep slumber. She showed a somewhat sleepy facial expression as she tossed and turned in her sleep.

Three months have passed, and spring has finally begun in the Fittoa Region of the Asura Kingdom. The snow has completely melted, the weather has gotten warmer and flowers are in full bloom outside Zenith garden and many other fields in Buena Village.

Roxy stood up from the bed, fixed her nightdress ribbon, and started rubbing her eyes, while her nightdress strap sagged on the side, exposing her right breast.

Later she removed her nightgown and undergarments, getting ready to enjoy her day off from teaching Rudy and Sylphy magic.

"NNNH!" Roxy yawned, while stretching her arms completely naked.

Then she put on a new pair of white panties and a matching colored bra.

Next, she fastened on her long-sleeve white and gray button-down shirt with black edges, matching her short black skirt that showed off her voluptuous "thicc" thighs.

Once she was fully dressed, she exited her bedroom and proceeded downstairs to the dining room to have a scrumptious breakfast. Which Lilia and Zenith had previously prepared for her when she'd eventually wake up.

Rudeus and Paul have already left the house a long time ago for their own scheduled plans for today.

Roxy POV

"Oh, drat, that Paul! He went and forgot his lunch." Zenith reported out loud.

"Rudy doesn't have class today, so I wouldn't mind delivering his lunch for you," I responded to Ms.Zenith, offering my assistance.

"Really!? You're a lifesaver, Roxy! I'll be counting on you. I think he's on top of the watchtower at the edge of the woods. I would go myself, but I can't be late for work, at the clinic."

Zenith replied, expressing her gratitude and explaining exactly where Paul might be located.

Afterwards, she handed me a woven basket filled with food. Then I said goodbye to Zenith and Lilia as I exited the Greyrat household and strolled through the travelers' walkway that had flower crops, wheat sprouts, and grassland on the right and left sides.

HMMN, the weather's very nice and warm today. The scent of Batirusu flowers and Vatirus flowers wafting faintly through the air…This season makes my heart feel so light and full. I feel like something good is bound to happen soon.

BWOOSH~

Suddenly, I heard a mud balls being thrown at my head from behind. So I lean my head to the left side to dodge it.

"Hey! You dodged it again, didn't you, demon hag?!"Somal shouted, displaying a frustrated look on his face.

"Looks like the demon hag finally woke up from hibernation!" Teo said, uttering a minor insult.

"Yeah guys, it looks like the demon hag isn't sleepy and because of the winter season either." Arlo asserted, alongside his friends.

"My race of demons does not hibernate, I'll have you know," I answered, while turning my head back to face them.

"What? You mean some do." Somal asked.

"It's like I said earlier, some do," I replied.

"Whoa, for real? Demons are scary." Arlo whispered to Teo.

"Hey! Where d'you think you're going?"Somal uttered out loud.

"To the woods, on an errand," I replied with an annoyed facial expression. Due to the troublesome children being nosy about my personal business.

"Doing evil deeds in the deep dark forest, huh?" Arlo responded.

"No, the forest is dangerous. Don't follow me…Go play over there." I replied and pointed at a grass field with a single tree in the distance.

"You can't tell us what to do, demon hag, take this!" Somal retorted and flipped up the frontal side of my black miniskirt, unveiling my white panties for the boys to see.

"Wha!😳Just what do you think you're doing, you pervert!" I uttered a shriek and quickly pulled my miniskirt back down. While my cheeks blushed bright red.

"Whoa! This works on demons, too."Somal said with a surprised look on his face.

"Panties are the demon's weak point! Flip it! Flip it!" Teo chanted and Arlo joined too.

"Hey! Is it fun for you to look at a woman's panties?!" I shouted at them angrily.

"HUH.…? It's not really that fun, is it…?

"What's fun is hearing a girl scream!

"What? Y-yeah that's right!"

"Take this!"

"And this!"

"And this!"

Who even cares? 😑

Somal, Teo, and Arlo began chanting, while they continually flipped my skirt up to see my panties in full display. Meanwhile, I simply showed an emotionless look on my face. So I won't give them the satisfaction of seeing me scream or an embarrassed facial expression.

"What? You're not screaming? Booorrring."

"Let's go."

A bunch of naughty children were looking at my panties…!? That's nothing.

Damnit during the confusion I accidentally dropped the basket of food too. Fortunately, the food wasn't smashed or ruined because it landed on a soft pile of grass here. I'd better quit wasting time and hurry to Paul. Before I lose track of him during his patrol.

Somar POV

"Hey guys, that demon hag said she was going to the forest," I responded to my friends and continued. "That demon might be plotting to summon a big scary monster in the forest and order it to eat everyone in the village."

"Oh no!😨 We'd better tell dad!" Arlo said with a surprised look on his face.

"Idiot, she's got all the grown-ups fooled, right? So it's up to us to defeat her and save the village. Then everyone will respect us and think we're really cool compared to that demon hag and her apprentice, that demon lover kid who's always getting in our way." I replied.

"Then we'll all be heroes! just like Perugius and his allies who defeated demon god Laplace." Arlo said out loud, excitedly.

"Let's do it!" I reported, pumping my fist in the air.

"Yeah!" Arlo and Teo replied, pumping their fist in the air, with my own fist.

Yeah, I can see myself standing on top of the defeated demon hag alongside my friends as the villagers praise us for thwarting her evil plans.

Then they'll show their gratitude to us by giving me and my friends lots of sweets, money, and our very own swords🤩. After that, we'll kick out all the demons and demon lovers from Buena village. Finally, Reeve Pete, will declare us the new protectors of the town.

Roxy POV

"Lunch Delivery!" I announced out loud for Paul and Laws to hear me on top of the watchtower. As I waved my right hand at them, saying hello. Afterwards, I climbed up the watchtower ladder and both of them greeted me.

"Oh, Roxy. Thanks for going through all the trouble to bring me my lunch." Paul said, as I handed him the woven basket with his lunch inside.

"It's fine, I had the free time and nothing else was going on today," I replied. When I looked at Mr.Laws he was staring at me with a surprised look on his face.

"Something wrong, Mr.Laws?" I responded with a frown on my face.

"Oh no, sorry! Your hair is…It looked green a second ago." Mr.Laws explained, while stuttering a little.

"Oh. That's right, my hair can do that depending on the lighting…"

"You know, I heard townsfolk saying they saw a Superd the other day…"

"You saw one!? Where!? In the village? On the road!? In the forest!? Why are you standing around all relaxed, for? We need to evacuate everyone now!" I reported and panicked like my own life depended on it. I don't wanna get killed and eaten by a Superd.

"Uh, sorry, I was just kidding. I didn't actually see one." Laws replied, displaying a guilty look on his face for teasing me like that.

"Jeez, don't scare me like that," I reported with my cheeks puffed up, with my head turned away from Laws and Paul. Because I didn't want them to see my blushing red face.

"So the demons are scared of the Superd just like the humans, huh?" Paul responded.

"Well of course! You know the story…If you stay up too late, the Superd will sneak on you and…SLURP! CHOMP! HEAD FIRST, GRR!" I replied, showing a somewhat spooky look on my face.

"It sounds like a scary story to make children behave and not stay up late at night." Laws said with a skeptical look on his face. Expressing that he doesn't believe that the Superd race really exists.

"If you ever meet one, if you do anything that bothers them, even just a little…They'll destroy your entire race in the blink of an eye. Never have anything to do with them. Or you'll risk your own survival."

"Is that so…?"

"Yes, also the reason why my hair turned green is due to the lighting, causing my hair to look pretty green to the naked eye. Because my parents told me that our people are closely related to the Superd and we were treated harshly at one time. Though it is not so bad anymore." I explained.

"Really!? What is your race called and where do they live exactly?" Paul asked, looking somewhat surprised that I'm closely related to the Superd.

"I am a Migurd, from the Biegoya Region of the Demon Continent. My people live in an isolated village within a desert region, and no one ever leaves." I answered and continued. "It feels like the entire world has forgotten my people even exist. So I wonder, in another few hundred years…Will the Superd really be just another fairytale?"

"Oh…" Paul and Laws said at the same time. Looking quite surprised, hearing about the Migurd race and where they inhabit is very different compare to the Asura Kindom.

After I delivered Paul's lunch and explained why my hair sometimes turned green. I said goodbye to Paul and Laws. Then I went back to the Greyrat household to have lunch with Rudy, Lilia, and Zenith. Then all of us tended to the garden; once we were done.

Rudy, Sylphy, and I decided to help the farmers by using our magic to water their crops and wheat fields. When we finished helping them, we returned home for dinner at dusk. Afterwards, we had dinner together; it was another normal day as usual, until we heard a sudden knock on the front door.

WHAM—WHAM~

"Huh, what's that?" Paul uttered with a confused facial expression. Then he got up and opened the door for their surprise guest.

"Sir Paul, it's an emergency. Everyone is saying that Somal and the boys haven't come home yet. The people of the village split up to go look for them, but…" Reeve Pete explained, with a worried look on his face.

"That's not good and it's almost nightfall too. It's dangerous at night, so tell everyone to go back home. Laws and I will go look for them." Paul ordered Reeve Pete and he rushed back to warn the villagers.

"Oh! Sir Paul, I saw those boys this afternoon. They asked me if I was plotting to do something bad in the forest. They followed me, so I told them to go back home, but…Maybe they didn't listen to me and went into the woods despite my warning." I responded to Paul and told him where the boys might be located.

"Damn! Those stupid children got themselves lost in the woods." Paul replied with a frustrated tone in his voice.

"I'm coming with you," I responded with a serious look on my face.

"Sorry to bother you, but I could really use extra help. Let me know when you're ready." Paul said, requesting my assistance.

"Okay!" I replied and we gathered our weapons and our cloaks. Then we exited the house and hopped on Paul's horse Caravaggio and his trusty steed galloped through the road at breakneck speed, so we could reach the forest in time. Before someone or something attacked the boys in the middle of the night.

Eventually, Paul and I reached the forest outside of the village. Where Laws possibly await us to help in the search effort or come to report good news that he has found the boys, safe and sound. At least that's what I hope to hear.

"Hey, Paul!" Laws, called out while waving his right hand toward us.

"Did you find them?" Paul asked, with a hint of concern in his voice.

"No, unfortunately." Laws answered and continued. "We did our regular monster culling in the afternoon, so we don't need to be too worried, as long as they didn't go deep into the forests, but we should work fast all the same. You never know what trouble children will get themselves into."

"Agreed, Roxy, since you're a saint-rank water magician, I figured you'll be okay on your own, against the monsters around here. But just to be sure, I wanted to ask you if you're alright on your own?

"Yes, of course!" I answered Paul, with a confident smile on my face.

"Oh! So brave, but you don't know the lay of the land, do you? So stay close to the road while you're searching." Paul explained.

"Okay, so the three of us are going to search the area separately. If you find them, signal us with the whistle blower, got it?" Laws explained.

"Got it. Just in case I see them, I'll throw a spell into the sky." I warned them.

"Okay, be careful out there Roxy."

Once Paul, Laws, and I separated to search different places in the forest for the boys. I began walking through the dirt road with an abundance of trees, bushes and tall grass on the right and left sides of the pathway. While I shouted out for Somal, Teo, and Arlo.

SOMAAAL!

TEOOO!

ARLOOO!

If I keep on following the road like this, I'll pass through the woods completely, won't I? Back then, what did the children say to me? I think I said…"Up to no good deep in the woods."

Those fools didn't really go into the forest, filled with monsters and dangerous animals, did they?

Are the children from bountiful lands with few external enemies really this oblivious to danger? It really is…different from the Demon Continent that I was born and raised in.

Somal POV

"Hey, the woods aren't scary in the daytime at all!" I responded to my friends as we bravely walked through the forest.

"Yeah, the grown-ups always make scary faces and tell spooky stories about why we can't go into the woods at all, but they were just trying to frighten us." Teo said, confidently.

"Maybe they're really just trying to hide something fun. They're always keeping us kids down!" Teo suggested.

"Is that it? The grown-ups are so unfair." I replied while glancing back at my other friend Arlo who was looking a little scared behind us.

Mmm, I should tease him. "Why aren't you saying anything Arlo, are you scared?" I responded and pointed my finger at him with a sly smirk on my face.

"I'm not scared!" Arlo shouted.

"OH NO! It's a venomous snake!"

"EEEK!" Arlo screamed and hid behind Teo's back like a scaredy-cat.

"Psych! It's just a tree branch."

"Quit, trying to scare me Somal!"

"Oh! Look at that…." Teo said, pointing at a bush that was further away from us.

"Not you, too Teo! I told you guys to quit scaring me, already." Alro said, blushing with embarrassment while shivering behind Teo.

"No, I'm not trying to scare you Arlo. I'm talking about those raspberries over there." Teo replied and pointed at the bushes in front of us. It was filled with ripe berries.

"Oh yeah! You're right!" Arlo said.

"Mom and dad don't usually let me have too many of these berries!"

"YAY! There are a whole bunch of them."

MUNCH, MUNCH~

"YUM! So sweet!😋You were right Teo! The grown-up are just hiding good stuff in the forest, for themselves.

"Hey, I want some raspberries too." I responded, shoving my friend's shoulder, so I could eat some delicious berries too. We all happily ate the raspberries together until we all heard a strange sound nearby.

"Uh-oh, whatever it is…It's coming closer." Teo said, noticing that someone or something is coming towards us.

"Oh no, this is pretty bad." Arlo replied, shaking in his shoes, looking super scared.

"Stand your ground brave heroes of Buena Village, there's three of us, so we can definitely outnumber and defeat whatever lives in these woods, no sweat!" I responded with a courageous tone in my voice. While each of us grabbed a stick to defend ourselves.

"B-But, what if its a big scary monster or animal that wants to eat us Somal?" Alro asked.

"Then we'll hightail it and run back home before it eats us." I suggested.

"AAAAAAH! Here it comes!"

"АAАААН! Go away!"

"Guys it's me."

"EH…? AAAH! It's the demon!!" We all said at the same time.

"Yeah, yeah, its me, the demon. Anyway you boys shouldn't go deep inside the woods like that. There's dangerous monsters and animals that will eat defenseless children like all of you." The blue-haired demon hag said.

"Shut up, demon! We came here to get rid of you! We know you're up to no good out here. You may have won the grown ups affection. But we'll defeat you once and all." I argued and snapped back at the demon hag.

"Yeah! We know you're planning something evil in the forest, so quit lying." Teo responded and pointed at the demon hag, alongside Arlo.

"I came to look for the three of you…And I'm glad all of you are safe and sound." The demon said honestly, while showing a relieved smile on her face. She looked very glad that we are all right and not hurt.

"HMPH, whatever." I replied, while blushing.

"Yeah, well I guess we can let this one slide. Since you went out of your way to bring us back home." Teo said and turned his back away from the demon, to find his blushing red cheeks, just me and Teo.

Roxy POV

"Since I found all of them unharmed. I better shoot an explosion spell into the air to warn Paul and Laws that I found the boys.

"Oh flame that slumbers in the earth and sky, gather and surge at my command. Ignite the air, unleash your fury—Explosion!💥"

"Whoa!" Teo and Arlo said at the same time. Both of them gazed in awe, by my explosion spell that was launched in the sunset sky.

"Wow! It's kinda similar to the knight's son's fireworks show from last year's harvest festival." Somal murmured to his two friends. They looked quite impressed by my explosion spell.

"That takes care of that, now we just gotta sit tight until Mr.Laws and Sir Paul arrive."

GRAAR!🐺

GRRR!

"What is that sound?"

"AHHH!😱It's a pack of wolves!"

"All three of you, stay behind me."

"Oh crimson flame🔥, heed my call! Take up thy burnt blade and pierce through thy enemy! cut down my foe without mercy! Flame Slice!"

I shot forth a blade of fire that sliced through two wolves, killing them instantly…Agh I can't keep on shooting spells like this. The wolves might attack the boys from behind. I need to kill them one at a time until Laws and Paul arrive to save us.

"Oh august fairy of earth! Hear my voice and heed my command! Enfold me in armor of magnificent stone! Earth Fortress!!"

I summon forth a large, stable, earth dome. providing a secure and long-lasting shelter against the wolves; for the time being. I also added a hole above the earth dome so we don't suffocate to death, due to a lack of air.

"Hey! why can't you go out there kill all those wolves already, demon!"

Somal reported and pointed at me.

"Well I could do that, but then I'd have to get rid of the Earth Fortress." I said with an annoyed facial expression.

"Then what's your plan?"

GRRR!

Mmm, it seems like the wolves are tackling my earth dome. But their brute force won't break it.

"EEK!😖" Teo and Arlo shrieked when they heard the wolves banging at the earth dome. Then they cuddle towards me, out of fear.

"Umm, if we stay inside here like this, we'll be safe…Right demon lady?!" Arlo said, looking quite frightened as he tightly grabbed my shirt.

"Uhh, Somal? What's wrong with you?"

"I gotta pee." Somal responded, while his legs began shaking.

"Seriously! Well don't pee in a tiny space like this!" Teo said, waving his hand toward him to shoo him away.

"I don't care, I can't hold it for much longer."

"Mmm, maybe all those raspberries you were eating. Must have caused you to go pee?" Arlo suggested, while watching him struggling to hold his pee. Then a wolf poked its head into the hole that was on top of the earth dome and began growling at us constantly.

"ACK! A wolf! Why the heck did you leave a hole on the top?!" Teo protested.

"For air! Or would you rather suffocate to death?!" I reported.

"AAААН! It's coming in!!" Somal screamed in terror and panicked.

"Don't worry. If they come one at a time, I could fight the wolves all day." I replied, doing my best to reassure Somal that he isn't in any moral danger. So long as I'm here protecting him and his friends.

GRAAAR!

"EEK!😨" Somal shrieked and fell backwards.

Suddenly the wolf that was piercing its head into the hole that was on top of the earth dome disappeared. And we began hearing a whoosh and slash sounds outside of the earth dome.

"Oh, no! Did a bigger one show up or something?" Somal responded, with teary eyes.

"Quit saying scary stuff like that!" Arlo replied, while he and Teo clung onto my waist out of pure terror.

"It got quiet, all of sudden." I said, noticing that the wolves stopped growling.

"Roxy! Its me Paul, me and Rawls took care of all of the wolves." Paul responded to us outside of the earth dome.

"Thank you for saving us, Sir Paul and you too Mr.Laws." I express my gratitude to Paul and Laws while dissolving the Earth Fortress spell.

"Are we really safe now?" Arlo said, completely frightened, as his legs began trembling right beside me.

"Whoa!" Teo, looking quite stunned by all the dead wolf bodies.

"Are the children okay Roxy? They didn't get bitten by the wolves or anything right?" Paul asked, looking a little worried that the boys might've been injured badly.

"As you can see…All three boys are safe and unharmed." I answered.

"And what about you, Roxy?"

"I don't have a scratch on me either."

"Wow! You're so strong Sir Paul!" Teo said, admiring Paul's strength and power against an entire pack of wolves alongside Laws.

"Knights are so amazing and cool!" Arlo said, complementing Paul, alongside his friend.

Afterwards, Paul bonked Teo and Arlo on the head for foolishly entering the woods and nearly getting themselves killed.

BONK—BONK~

"OWW!"

"Hey! What was that for!?"

"You know the forest is a dangerous place for you kids. You could've gotten yourself killed ya'know! Say you're sorry for what you did!"

"Sorry!" Teo and Arlo replied and bowed their heads to Paul to show remorse.

After seeing Teo and Arlo getting lectured by Paul. I glanced back at Somal and noticed that he accidentally wet his pants, probably because the wolf frightened him.

"Uh…Oh no." Somal murmured, feeling completely embarrassed that he pee in his pants. So I walked towards him and wrapped my brown cloak around him. That way, his soaked pants aren't shown to everyone.

"Can you stand?" I asked with a gentle smile on my face.

"I-I'm fine!" Somal shouted, while blushing bright red in front of me. Then the children's parents suddenly appeared. They quickly called out to the boys and hugged them in a warm embrace.

"Teo!"

"Arlo, are you okay…?!"

"WAAAAH! Mommy, I'm so sorry." Arlo cried out while hugging his mother.

"I was so scared! There were a bunch of wolves trying to eat us." Teo said to his father, while shedding tears.

"Is that so? You're really going to get a hollering when we get home. Best be prepared now."

"SOMAL!"

"Mommy, I…"

Before Somal could utter another word, his mother slapped him on the face.

"How dare you cause Sir Paul trouble! You unruly child!" Mrs.Ada said in an angry tone and was getting ready to slap her son again until Paul intervened and grabbed her hand to stop her.

"Now, now, I think that's enough😅. It looks like he's already learned his lesson and repented for what he did." Paul replied with a nervous smile on his face.

"Oh my, do you truly think so? Thank you very much. You really are the very image of the ideal father, Sir Paul." Mrs.Ada said, complimenting Paul, while she blushed happily.

"Naw. I just did what any resident knight's supposed to do." Paul replied, brushing aside her words of flattery.

"Hey Paul, it's about that time we head back home too." Laws responded.

"Y-yeah! We'll be taking our leave now Ada."

"I understand, thank you so much for saving my son, Sir Paul!"

"Come on, we're leaving." Mrs.Ada said, as she grabbed her son's hand and departed out of the forest. The other parents and children also exited the woods as well.

"Hey Roxy, do you want a cold one when we get back home?" Paul asked, looking a little tired.

"Sure, I could use a good drink, after enduring this stressful day," I answered.

The Next Day—Middle of the Morning~

"Roxy, sweetie, could you please take this bag of herbs to the clinic for me please." Zenith responded, kindly asking for my assistance.

"Okay, Ms.Zenith." I answered.

"I'll go with you Ms.Roxy." Rudy replied, generously offering to help too.

While me and Rudy were walking through the dirt road with wheat fields on our right and left sides. Somal, Teo and Arlo, started to provoke me once again. I guess children have a short attention span and are quite forgetful.

"Stop right there outsiders! We are the knights of Buena village and we shall defeat the demon and her faithful servant, on this glorious day." Somal reported, while pointing his wooden stick directly at us. From a short distance away.

"Yeah! Get ready to be, vanquished demon hag!" Teo responded, waving his wooden stick around, pretending it's a sword.

"What is it? Are you and demon lover boy over there scared or somethin'?" Arlo said, trying to mock us.

I guess this is just how children are, these days. Well except for Rudy and Sylphy, are one of the few children who are actually nice and respectful towards me. They never judge me for being a demon with blue hair.

"Uhh Ms.Roxy, do you want me to get rid of Buena Village's trio of troublemakers?" Rudy asked with an annoyed look on his face.

"Yeah sure, since they don't know when to quit harassing people like me and Sylphy." I replied, giving Rudy permission to get rid of Somal and his demon hating friends.

Rudy used melding magic to create mud balls and shot several of them at the boys' faces and bodies. Until they run away, in utter defeat. Besides, they pretty much deserve it. Since they tormented me yesterday and made their parents worried sick, when they recklessly endangered their lives by entering the woods.

"I can't believe they tried to attack you like that Ms.Roxy. Despite the fact that you saved their lives when they were attacked by a pack of wolves in the forest." Rudy said, with an angry tone in his voice.

"Those boys either have short term memory loss, they're very stupid or simply don't care. Because they only desire to play their stupid game where they pick on the demon, due to the legendary tales of the Human-Demon Wars that the adults tell the children, causing them to think that demons are always the enemy." I explained to Rudy, so he would understand why the children would do this.

"Ahh I see, I guess me and Sylphy are the exception because of the way we were raised and how we lived our lives thus far." Rudy, expressing pity for my circumstances.

"Either way, I'm glad that such nice and sweet children like you and Sylphy…Come along now, best not waste our time and deliver these herbs to the clinic as soon as possible."

"Okay🫡."
