Malakai's world went dark. It happened so suddenly that it was as though a switch was flipped.
As the slap landed, Malakai didn't hear the boom of the explosion that came from it. He didn't even feel the slap land.
All Malakai felt at that moment was the roaring wind slamming against his body as he cut through the terrain.
Sound came back to him. And the first thing he heard was the wind howling around him, then the countless booms he left in his wake as he slammed through multiple obstacles.
As his momentum was stopped by what Malakai assumed was a boulder, the pain came.
It felt as though his body had been crushed beneath a barrage of countless boulders. There wasn't a single bone in Malakai's body that didn't feel broken at that moment.
Malakai wheezed, then exhaled slowly, intense pain roaring through him. Breathing felt like countless bone shards were cutting through his lungs.
