After the dust settled, Bakugou groaned as he stood back up, feeling a bit of a headache. He coughed a bit before looking around and saw the enemy bomb on top of all the rubble
"Hell yeah!!"
He said with a smile on his face and quickly jumped to grab his prize. He was definitely going to rub this victory on Taro's face.
Unfortunately, he was forced to halt his steps as All Might announced through the speakers all over ground Beta.
"Team B.Y.H. has been disqualified, Team T.Y.K wins"
"What!!"
Bakugou screamed in shock. He quickly looked around and saw that the wall was still standing, which confused him for a second, but he was quick to realize that he was on the floor below the one he and Todoroki were fighting in.
"Fuck!!"
He exclaimed in frustration and at the realization that Taro was not going to let this go without making a big deal out of it.
…..
"Good work, students, that was quite the riveting match; of course, there are some things you did wrong, but for our first class, I wouldn't say I'm disappointed."
All Might spoke as he looked at the six students before him, the other students were already told to go prepare and wait for his signal.
"Is there anything any of you would like to point out about your match? Something you think you did wrong?"
He asked and looked at their faces; out of the six students, there were about four who showed outward emotions. Taro and Bakugou displayed similar faces of frustration; no doubt Taro was frustrated at Bakugou for costing them the match, and Bakugou was seemingly frustrated that his team lost.
Toru Hagakure showed a face of dejection; all Might guessed it was due to the fact she felt she was of little help and had been practically useless; there was also the fact her quirk simply didn't work the way she wanted.
'Let's see if she'll seek a consultation'
He thought, On the other hand, Momo showed a mixture of emotions; it was obvious she was happy that her team won, but she did not seem happy with the way she won.
Thinking about it, he doubted Momo's team could have won any other way.
At All Might's question about things they might have done wrong, Toru raised her hand, although she did so reluctantly.
"I think my team would have benefited if I had simply hidden the bomb and then assisted them in searching for the other team's bomb. I focused too much time on trying to turn it invisible that I risked us losing the match"
She explained, her head lowered a bit and her tone conveying that she wasn't feeling at all happy right now.
All Might waited for a moment before responding, looking at the others to see if her teammates would agree with her or defend her.
"Don't feel bad Toru, it's this loser who cost us the match"
Taro came to her defense, accusing Bakugou of the loss, All Might could see that the young man had frustration on his face, and that made it obvious that Taro was not the type who liked losing.
"I fought Two people!! How many did you fight?!! At least I put in work unlike you"
Bakugou immediately responded that he did not appreciate the accusations as if he wasn't the one that did the most work out of the entire team, and besides, it was not his fault the enemy used his weakness against him.
"Oh! You fought two people? That's great, buddy; then why didn't we win? Oh that's right you got us disqualified"
"You act like you weren't there! as if you weren't so useless yourself, what good is having 3 quirks if you're going to be useless"
"Better to be useless than be the guy that sabotages the whole team!"
The two young men began going at each other, shouting back and forth before All Might decided to put a stop to it.
"Enough!"
He said with a small shout, immediately causing the two young men to clam up and shut their mouths; the small scowl of displeasure on His face conveyed the seriousness, something that looked a bit out of place on the hero's usually bright and smiling face.
"This was a Team exercise; all three of you did not come together as a team to make a plan; you didn't try to do anything as a team; you just wanted to win. That's not how heroes act. Heroes cooperate and cover each other's weaknesses, you did none of that."
Two out of the three shrunk into themselves, feeling the guilt and taking All Might's words to heart. It wasn't fun being lectured, but they understood their mistakes and wanted to do better.
Taro, on the other hand, did not particularly care; he doesn't care about being a hero, so what a hero would do is irrelevant to him; he is here to look out for Momo and have a bit of fun since he had a vague feeling that this place might be fun.
However, he supposed that All Might was right about working together when in a team, but he did not want to acknowledge that.
" From all three of you, I want a thousand-word essay detailing all the things you did wrong and what you could have done right; submit it by the end of the week."
The hero stated his tone, leaving no room for negotiation or any room for discussion, and unfortunately, the students could do nothing but nod their heads in agreement.
"Now onto you guys, what do you think was your mistake or something you did wrong"
He said looking over to Momo's team, who had been quiet watching. After hearing his question, Momo was the first to raise her hand and answer the question.
"After I had trapped Taro, I didn't consider the idea of Taro being willing to take the risk of being disqualified and I didn't consider having my traps securely hold his legs so that he couldn't stretch them open to escape."
She stated and All Might nodded in agreement to her words. Unlike the other team, Momo and her teammates actually came up with a plan of attack.
They correctly made plans to counter their most troublesome opponents to ensure a smooth victory. While they did win, the win couldn't be attributed to their strategy, unfortunately.
"That's correct; as a team, you three managed to work together cohesively and managed to push even Bakugou to his limits and force him to use his trump card, which resulted in them being disqualified. In a sense Young Lady Yaoyorozu's plan to beat Taro by forcing him to be disqualified worked but on Young Bakugou instead"
All Might explained that had their plan been made for Bakugou, it may have worked. However, Momo couldn't be sure it would work as she did not know Bakugou as well as her brother. Her plan ended up failing because she underestimated her brother.
"However, I believe you should have had a backup plan in place, when your plan failed on Taro, He simply went to secure his team Bomb and made it difficult for you to get it since you had no way of beating him"
After their plan failed, Taro chose to forget capturing their bomb and left that task to Bakugou; he then went back to protect his bomb, thus creating a sort of stalemate where neither Kirishima nor Momo had the power to beat him.
"Had Bakugou not disqualified them, Taro could have told Toru to hide the bomb or leave it to him to make sure you don't find it and then have her look for your team's bomb, I doubt both of you could have slipped past him and chase after her to stop her from finding your bomb"
"So in the end, if they hadn't gotten disqualified we wouldn't have won"
Todoroki said so in his usual monotone and received an affirmative "yes" from All Might. That was a confirmation that Momo didn't particularly like hearing; she was already having mixed feelings about it, but the fact her team won purely because of luck soured her mood.
She was nowhere close to proving that she did not need her brother's protection. A small frown showed on her face, her frustration showing, but inwardly, she vowed that next time, she'd do better.
"Alright, good. You can go to the showers; I'll let the next match start."
"You aren't going to give them a thousand-word essay? No fair"
Taro complained but All Might ignored him and walked toward the control panel to announce that the other students could start anytime
Seeing his complaint unheard, Taro could only grumble as he floated away and made his way to the showers.
