Chapter 40 - chapter 40: Momo and Mina 2

"Sorry my brother always said, never talk strangers unless you can beat them in a fight or outrun them"

She said with the confident smirk still on her face. She reached on her pouch and took out a smoke bomb.

"oh does that mean you can outrun me?"

He questioned as he lifted his hand up, taking aim. If she ran away, he did not mind. In fact, the chase was more fun anyway.

"I don't know. Maybe, maybe not"

She dropped the smoke bomb and in an instant as soon as it touched the ground, the smoke exploded out and the room was instantly clouded by a thick chalk white smoke that filled the entirety of the room. Momo was quick to act; she spawned infrared goggles using her quirk and put them on and then moved.

Her opponent fired another shot of concentrated air that pierced through the smoke and created a visible path to the wall, however by sheer luck Momo had moved to the side a split second before the shot was fired, allowing her to use the smoke as her cover.

"Really a smoke's screen? I didn't think UA students were cowards"

He barked in annoyance. However, the young girl paid him no mind. Instead, she hurriedly and silently ran up to him, making her way behind him.

He fired another shot in another random direction, but that only succeeded in creating a small pocket of air that stretched to the wall, never coming close to striking Momo.

He couldn't see anything except white smoke and unfortunately he was not well versed in tracking the sounds of footsteps or breathing, so all he could do was shoot in random directions, however Momo had already managed to make her way behind him.

Clenching her hand onto a hard fist, she swung it and struck him right on his left flank, where the ribs would be, the electrocution glove crackled into life as the azure lighting sparked. His torso was armoured, but that didn't matter.

The electricity ignored the armor and traveled into his body. The pain of the electricity from the glove running through his body registered in his brain, and he let out garbled screams as he felt his skin being fried.

The glove had been made to hurt Taro. However, she only set it to its highest voltage when she plans to electrocute him. Against normal people, it had slightly higher voltage than a typical taser

Air-gun's body clammed up before it twitched and jolted uncontrollably as the electricity ran throughout his body, delivering a pain that was completely unfamiliar to him but it felt far greater than any he has felt so far.

Before his body could drop to the floor, Momo spun and kicked him on the ribs, sending him staggering back onto the wall to his right. She then ran up to him, full sprint, jumped up, and delivered a devastating drop kick to his chest, kicking him straight through the wall and sending him rolling onto his stomach.

Momo was quick to get up, and on her feet, she heaved a sigh when she witnessed her enemy unmoving on the floor.

She had expected it to be a lot harder to fight however it seemed that she was mistaken, if anything it looked like her opponent was not a seasoned villain like she had assumed or perhaps his arrogance had caused him to underestimate her.

"Regardless, it's over"

She said, walking closer to her enemy while also making a steel wire, it was the same type of wire that she used against Taro during the exercise, it was obvious that even though Taro could snap it in two effortlessly, anyone without strength comparable to his would have a difficult time trying to break it.

As she approached, already unwinding the coiled wire in preparation to tie him up, there was a resounding thud that resounded throughout the room, like someone had carelessly dropped a heavy sack of fruit on the ground.

"PLEASE SHOUJI! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU! STOP THIS!"

Mina's screams echoed, her voice pleading as if she was begging for her life, yet Momo could tell her she wasn't begging for her life.

Momo jerked her head to turn however she quickly realized that she had to secure her opponent before going to help Mina with her fight, unfortunately that moment of distraction was enough for her foe to launch an attack.

A sudden hit to her chest, forced all the air out her lungs, it was like a cement brick had collided with her chest and sent her flying back, her body entering into the room she had previously left and crashed onto its wall.

She dropped into her knees and gasped for air, her body panickingly doing its best to suck in as much oxygen as possible, this caused her to begin coughing furiously, small drops of blood splatter on the floor.

Her eyes had bulged open like saucers, the pain in her chest made her want to drop and roll around like a child, somehow she felt far more pain than when she got hit in the gut and seeing her own blood caused her to tremble in sudden fear.

The smoke inside the room had begun to clear as it leaked out into the other room, making it much easier to see. However, the visibility did not improve by much.

She looked over to the room her opponent should have been in and saw that he was just getting up, and that last attack from him was more than likely to get her to back off and give himself some space.

Without hesitation, Momo took out two smoke bombs and threw one of them on the ground, letting one smoke clout the room once more before running towards the room Mina and her enemy were fighting in.

...

Mina did not have many friends growing up, despite it being common for people to develop quirks that make them look less human it was still quite easy to be discriminated against, due to this Mina only had two friends in her childhood, Kirishima Eijiro and Mezou Shouji

The same Mezou Shouji, who at the moment seemed determined to kill her. but this was a mistake, a misunderstanding, and her friend was not a villain.

Mina after having been slammed onto the ground with such force that she nearly passed out from both the impact and pain but she gritted her teeth and power through it, she then pleaded with him, trying to get him to stop however her words were met with silence.

One of his extra arms struck her stomach, forcing a painful groan out her mouth, however before a second attack could land she used her hands to grab both limbs stopping the incoming barrage of punches before they began.

Two of his limbs were on her shoulders and kept her on the ground making it difficult for her to move, two of the extra limbs were being held by her hands keeping them in place, however ShojI had six Arms, three on one side and three on the other.

"What happened to your dream of becoming a hero!"

She asked, her voice practically begging, but He did not answer.

Four of his hands were occupied. However, the other two were not. Mina's attempt at stopping his attack was futile. In fact, even if she could stop all his arms, he is able to create more.

His free arms rained down a barrage of punches to her torso, rapidly as if he was attempting the chain punch technique. He struck her stomach, her ribs, her sternum ceaselessly, and Mina could not help but let out a scream as each punch connected, and her brain registered the pain from each consecutive punch.

She hadn't wanted to fight him. She wanted answers, why was he like this, what happened after she moved out of her hometown. He used to be such a kind person who cared even about the people who called them freaks, determined to prove them wrong.

She could feel herself getting dizzy, each punch delivering unbearable pain that made her mind feel like it was on a roller-coaster. The tears had built up and obscured her vision, making it difficult to see. She began to see smoke, the figure of her friend barely visible through it.

Momo had thrown the smoke bomb in the room, right as she rushed out and delivered a powerful kick on the man that was on top of her classmate sending him tumbling back disoriented, his knees buckled nearly passing out as the kick had struck his jaw.

She did not wait to see the results of her attack and quickly took Mina off the ground and dragged her out the room before properly helping her stand up and then running away, pulling Mina by the Arm.

...

A/N: Honestly I considered writing a flashback rather than just telling but I decided against it.
