Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Taro v Nomu

Moments later, Taro arrived as well. He did not look hurt, only roughed up, no blood on him, just a small grin on his face and eyes that showed his inner excitement. He rolled his shoulders and stretched his neck.

"Come on, don't tell me that's all it took"

He said, his voice sounding disappointed however the smile on his face told he was expecting the creature to get up, his expectations were confirmed as the Nomu's caved chest began to heal, its bones snapping back in place.

'It can absorb my punches, absorbing their force and shock, making them less effective, but that's all it does absorb'

Taro inwardly thought, as he recalled his earlier attack on Nomu, He remembered that when He struck its abdomen earlier it bulged before settling back to normal, almost as if its body didn't even get attacked.

Under normal circumstances, he would say the creature just might be unbeatable. However, he also remembered when he hit it with his full power. Though it took no damage, it still was pushed back.

'Meaning it just has shock absorption, not nullification, and there's a limit to how much shock it can absorb'

This was supported by the fact that when he used both his flight momentum and physical might, it was enough to send it flying, meaning that kind of power was too much for its shock absorption.

"Ohhh Yeah! Lets fucking go!"

He touched the ground and waited for his opponent to get back up, since his foe had shock absorption then that meant, each punch had to be 120% of his power, dig deep into his untapped potential and strike it with everything he's got.

That would no doubt be incredibly taxing and exhausting, he didn't know if he had the stamina for that, not only that but he didn't think he could truly beat Nomu.

That uncertainty brought him a sense of unease, one he pushed aside and ignored. What if he couldn't do it? What if he lost?

The young lad shook his head, dispelled such nonsensical thoughts but they didn't get dispelled, his confidence waned.

Aizawa on the other hand was in disbelief, firstly because he thought Taro was way in over his head, yet the results spoke for themselves, the kid was holding his own against a creature that completely had a pro hero like himself beat.

The second thing that surprised him was also the fact that, seemed to have multiple quirks, it wasn't the quirks it had thar were curious but how unrelated they are to each other.

At first he had thought the reason his own quirk didn't work on the Nomu was because its quirk was a mutant type, and its strength was a simply a result of its mutant body. Similar to how he can't turn off Mina's pink skin.

However that may be untrue, and that the Nomu simply had multiple quirks and that rendered his quirk useless. Of course someone having two quirks is not uncommon however despite that Aizawa can still cancel them out simultaneously, this is because in most people those quirks are the result of a single quirk factor expressing itself in two different ways.

Aizawa's quirk essentially turns off that quirk factor and essentially cancels out the quirks however if someone had more than a single quirk factor then turning off one will have no effect on the other.

"I wouldn't be celebrating if I were you, It will take more than that for Nomu to go down"

Just as he said those words the Nomu got back on its feet, proving Shigaraki's words true, its chest fully healed, without a single scratch left to show the damage it took.

"Humph, that's what I'm hoping for, Bozo!"

Taro answered, his stance changing to a battle ready stance. He figured that it's better to use grappling instead of just punching it hard, otherwise he'll get tired quicker.

Shigaraki did not need to even give the order, Nomu launched itself at Taro without a second thought.

Taro met the creature head on, ducking under its large fist aimed at his head before crashing onto its torso with significant force and tackling it to the ground.

As they both hit the floor it shook, however Taro wasted no time, he immediately grabbed one of its legs and used one of his own to stomp on its abdomen to keep it steady before he proceeded to twist the leg with all his might breaking bones before he pulled the leg off and tossed aside.

"Shock absorption doesn't protect you from getting your legs broken"

He said as Nomu thrashed about and threw wild swings at him, almost striking him on the chest, however he blocked the hit with both his arms but it sent him flying back.

Luckily he can fly so he immediately stopped himself however the slight painful tingle on his forearms told him to be careful when blocking.

"If I can't damage you with punches, then why tire myself out trying to do that when I can just damage you in different ways"

He said watching the creature regenerate its leg, bone began to grow out of the stump and it would soon have muscles wrapped around it before nerves and skin followed suit.

Taro waited, he didn't attack, if there's a limit to its shock absorption then there's a limit to its regeneration, he just has to break enough bones and tear its limbs enough time to over tax its regeneration.

"No no no! What the hell is this?!! This brat wasn't supposed to be this strong!"

Shigaraki began frantically scratching his body, his irritation and frustration mounting as witnessed the Nomu that was supposed to kill All Might get bested by a kid who wasn't even a hero yet.

"Calm down Tomura Shigaraki, the Nomu hasn't lost, its strength is still superior."

Kurogiri tried to calm him down; however his words did nothing to help the situation, as Shigaraki increasingly became frantic and unstable.

"Nomu!! Kill that Kid, Kill him, rip him to shreds, that's an order!"

Nomu's leg had done healing and hearing such an order from its master, it let out its first roar ever since this whole incident began.

Its body launched itself at Taro, at such speeds that a blink would be considered slow.

The Nomu crashed against Taro, tackling him; however , the young man had been ready and met its tackle head on.

BOOM!

Their clash produced a powerful shockwave, Taro's feet dug onto the concrete floor, his feet creating two ruts on the ground as the Nomu pushed him back, overpowering him.

The lad frowned, doing his best to plant his feet and get a foothold. However, under the might of the Nomu, the concrete floor had no strength to resist.

The two fighters had their hands clasped together as they pushed against each other, The Nomu's height and size gave it the advantage, as it forced Taro's elbows to bend.

'It's pushing me back!'

He thought as he did his best to resist and mustered up all his strength to push back, but it was to avail Nomu's strength wasn't to be understated. Taro began to think of a way to get out of the situation.

Unfortunately just as he had figured it out, Nomu lifted him off the ground, pulling him up by his arms before the creature proceeded to slam him onto the floor with enough force to create a crater and cause the ground to shake violently.

His back was on the floor once again. However, this time Nomu was on top of him, and its large fists ready to rain down on him.

He only had time to put up his guard before the first strike hit, shaking the floor as it connected with his force arms.

The sting of pain peppered across his arms, warning him that taking any more such powerful punches would be detrimental. Unfortunately, he had nowhere to go.

As if imitating Ralf from that one arcade game Nomu rained down rapid fire punches, in such succession that there was barely any pause between the punches and each punch was enough to shake the earth creating small earthquakes.
