Chapter 93 - A Despicable Past

Anna: So, who are you? You seem to have a different self inside if you agree with what you're saying.

****: Actually, I think about this question all the time, but I don't really know who I am either.

Anna: Why do you think that?

****: Anna, it's normal not to understand this, but...

Anna: Wait, wait, wait! Why? Am I stupid?

****: No, I didn't mean that.

Anna: What did you mean then?

****: What I meant is, Anna, if we really want to learn who we are, we need to understand ourselves. But as humans, we do nothing to know ourselves; we just continue the fixed norms of popular culture to fit in with others.

Anna: You're not really someone who fits those popular culture norms, are you?

****: How do you know that?

Anna: I don't know, you just don't seem like that kind of person, and you're a hacker, after all.

****: Does hacking have anything to do with this?

Anna: Leaving hacking aside, you've always talked to me by criticizing cultural norms, so that's why I said that.

****: It's not important; let's drop this topic.

Anna: Yeah, you're right. Let's forget it.

****: Yes, it's really time to talk about serious matters.

Anna: Yes, the time has come.

****: Anna, do you really have feelings for me?

Anna: That's a tough question, but I'm surprised you asked me that.

****: Why are you surprised?

Anna: If I didn't have feelings for you, do you think I would be here?

****: You're right, but I don't know; it seems strange to me that you've made this choice after always bullying me on the camping trip.

Anna: You still don't understand me, ****. I wasn't a good person back then; I was going through storms inside me every day, facing different problems. To cope with those issues, I tried to push them away by bullying others. I was a despicable person.

****: Do you really think that? Did you do this to everyone? I mean, I'm not a sensitive person, but others might not be like that, Anna.

Anna: I was a bad person, ****. Please don't push me on this.

****: So why did you decide to call me a robot when you were giving me those nicknames? Did you have some criteria in mind?

Anna: No, it just came to my mind. I thought of you working with software-related stuff, and my subconscious created that. It just popped into my head.

****: Interesting.
