Clearstar Wei's smile became cruel. He was enjoying this. "Since you've offended this young master, you'll need to make amends." He pointed at his expensive boots. "Lick my foot clean. Then kneel at the gates of Clearstar Estate for three days. Perhaps then I'll forgive your transgression."

The crowd went silent. Even for the capital, this was excessive. Humiliating even. But no one spoke up. No one dared to.

Kael stared at the young master speechlessly. This was the first time he'd heard something this atrocious. His silver eyes turned cold, void of emotion. "No."

The single word hung in the air like a blade.

Clearstar Wei blinked. As if he couldn't process what he'd heard. "What?"

"I said no." Kael's voice was quiet. But it carried. "I didn't bump into you. You weren't watching where you were going. There's nothing to apologize for. If someone is to apologize, you should be apologising to me."
