Chapter 454 - Chapter 453: Extorting Obito

Chapter 453: Extorting Obito

While Tsunade and the others were deciding to implement anti-Sharingan specialized training for Root and Anbu, Fugaku Uchiha received a personal letter from Iwagakure, sent by Ishiro.

Fugaku hesitated for a long time before finally opening it.

The letter's contents were blunt. Ishiro told Fugaku directly that Sōkai's training had serious problems and asked for guidance on how to instruct him.

Fugaku wasn't surprised by this. Izumi Uchiha, whom he was currently training, also had average talent.

Although Izumi had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, her fundamentals were poor. He was currently teaching her how to rapidly master the new powers that came with the Sharingan's evolution.

The Uchiha clan frequently encountered this mismatch between ocular power and actual skill, and they had a systematic training method to address it.

But seeing Ishiro's description of Sōkai, Fugaku was still astonished. "Is that kid's talent really that bad?"

After some thought, Fugaku wrote down the detailed training methods for Sōkai and handed the reply to the Iwagakure intelligence ninja.

The Akatsuki Organization's joint Chunin Exam was still about a month away, but Ishiro couldn't sit still in the village and decided to head to the Land of Rivers early.

Using his Porcelain Release, Ishiro flew Squad 6 (Sōkai, Chiga, and Ayumi) and Kanako toward Obito Uchiha's new base.

Along the way, Ishiro listened somewhat speechlessly as Kanako chatted with Sōkai and the other two.

"Ayumi, did you use up all the exploding tags yet?" That's how Kanako opened the conversation.

Afterward, in the face of the three rookies' stunned expressions, Kanako spent the entire trip explaining countless tactics and skills utilizing exploding tags.

These combat methods were undeniably effective; their only drawback was the cost.

What normal ninja could afford so many exploding tags?

Even if they could afford them, wouldn't that silver or those contribution points be better spent on new jutsu scrolls or weapons like kunai and longswords?

Therefore, no one else ever considered combat strategies based on the mass consumption of exploding tags.

Clutching the tags Kanako had given them, the three students felt they had learned invaluable lessons.

Soon, the five arrived above Obito Uchiha's base.

This time, Ishiro didn't just attack without warning. He threw a Porcelain Release kunai—with an exploding tag attached—at the ground.

The kunai landed, and the tag exploded.

Ishiro then sensed more than a dozen White Zetsu clones cautiously emerging to check the situation.

Naturally, many of the Zetsus saw the porcelain platform in the sky and, near the edge of the platform, the large characters Ishiro had shaped from porcelain mud: NEGOTIATE!

The White Zetsu clones looked at each other in confusion. Soon, one of them dove underground to notify Obito Uchiha, Black Zetsu, and the main White Zetsu body.

When Obito heard Ishiro was back again, his whole body trembled.

It wasn't that he was afraid of Ishiro; he just didn't want to experience the debilitating weakness that followed summoning the Gedo Statue again.

The last time he summoned it, he was unconscious for some time.

If he were forced to summon the Gedo Statue again this time, he wasn't sure he'd survive. He absolutely would not do it.

Black Zetsu's expression was also ugly. Why was this man so damned persistent? How did he find them again?

Obito said to Black Zetsu, "What does he want to negotiate? Does he expect me to surrender?"

Black Zetsu shook his head. "What he wants isn't important. What's important is how he found us. If he can find us every time we move, our Eye of the Moon Plan will be impossible to achieve."

Just then, the main White Zetsu body interjected, "Black Zetsu, didn't you leave a part of your body in the Tsuchikage's hands?"

"Could he be using that to track us?"

"Impossible. No one in this world possesses the mastery of Yin Release required to utilize my body," Black Zetsu stated unequivocally.

White Zetsu pouted. "What about a Mangekyo Sharingan dōjutsu? Didn't you say last time that the Uchiha Sōkai kid's technique is tracking?"

"With the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan, are you one hundred percent certain it still can't utilize your body?"

Black Zetsu faltered. He had seen the abilities of many Mangekyo Sharingan, and he knew their techniques were practically on the level of Sage arts. It was just that the abilities were singular, and the users lacked the Sage-level chakra to support them, so they never reached their full potential.

Seeing this, Obito snorted coldly at Black Zetsu. "Black Zetsu, stay away from me from now on. Don't drag me down with you."

Black Zetsu: ...

Obito ignored whatever Black Zetsu was thinking. He activated Kamui and went to the surface alone.

Soon, Obito appeared on the ground. He looked up at the word "Negotiate" hanging in the air and, suppressing his anger, shouted, "Tsuchikage, what do you want to negotiate?"

Ishiro said, "I'll trade you information for the items Madara Uchiha left behind."

Obito frowned. "What information?"

Ishiro smiled. "My information is: your location. I promise to keep your location secret, and in return, you give me the items."

Obito gritted his teeth. He wanted to refuse this ridiculous demand, but he didn't have the leverage. He had been completely drained. He did not want to move bases again.

Just then, Obito heard the White Zetsu attached to him whisper, "Obito, Black Zetsu says to tell the Tsuchikage that Madara-sama's belongings were all destroyed by Iwa last time."

Obito's eyes lit up under his mask. He yelled at Ishiro, "The items were in the Land of Fire base! You already destroyed them last time! Not even dust is left!"

Ishiro laughed coldly. "You definitely put the important data into your special dimension. Don't try to fool me with that excuse."

Obito gritted his teeth. It was true.

When Ishiro had just awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan, he had raided Obito's base. Back then, Ishiro had taken Madara's weapon.

Ever since that incident, Obito stored everything Madara left behind in the Kamui dimension.

Seeing the lie wouldn't work, Obito suddenly remembered the nickname Ishiro had given him during the battle at the underground shrine, just to provoke him.

In that instant, Obito desperately wanted to just turn around and leave. Forget the Gedo Statue, forget being exposed, he didn't care anymore.

Just then, the White Zetsu clone attached to him said, "Obito, calm down. Let's hear what the Tsuchikage has to say."

Taking a deep breath, Obito yelled at the sky, "How do you want to trade?"

Ishiro smiled slightly. "I want all of Madara Uchiha's training notes. Not just the five basic natures, but also the notes for Yin and Yang Release."

"And: the 'Creation of All Things' technique that comes from fusing Yin and Yang."

Hearing the first part of Ishiro's demand, Obito wanted to refuse. But the last sentence stunned him—how did Ishiro even know about that?

Obito immediately replied, "Don't even dream of the notes for Yin-Yang fusion. I won't even give you the Yin and Yang Release notes!"

Ishiro just laughed. "Well then, Genius, are you ready to summon the body of the Ten-Tails for the third time?"

Obito: ...

"Damn you!" Obito snarled.

At this moment, Black Zetsu's instructions came again via the White Zetsu clone: "Obito, trade him the five nature scrolls, and give him the Yang Release notes."

"The Tsuchikage's affinity leans toward Yin Release, so we cannot give him the Yin notes. Even if we give him the Yang notes, he can't use them."

Taking several deep breaths to regulate his mindset, Obito said, "The five nature scrolls, plus the Yang Release scroll. That is my bottom line. If you don't agree, you can just take the Ten-Tails' body!"

Ishiro smiled. "Good! Bring them out."

Obito activated Kamui and vanished. After a moment, he reappeared, this time holding six scrolls.

Ishiro used his Porcelain Release to retrieve the six scrolls, handing them to a Shadow Clone for careful inspection. The clone then said, "This Fire Release scroll is a duplicate of the one I took last time. Give me a different one."

Obito raged, "Impossible! You took the original last time! I don't even know what was written on it!"

"Exactly. You don't know, but I do. And it's identical to this scroll," Ishiro's Shadow Clone said, holding the fire scroll.

Obito: ...

The White Zetsu clone spoke: "Obito, Black Zetsu says just give it to him. We already gave him six scrolls; what's one more?"

Obito's three-tomoe Sharingan glared fiercely at Ishiro. After staring for a long time, he vanished again.

A moment later, Obito reappeared and threw a single scroll high into the air.

Ishiro casually caught it with his Porcelain Release and handed it to the Shadow Clone.

The clone reviewed it and nodded to the main body.

Seeing the clone nod, the real Ishiro spoke to Obito: "Alright, the information trade is complete. Now, let's discuss the rent for you occupying my Land of Earth territory."

The moment his voice fell, Ishiro's Mind's Eye sensed Obito's aura below explode as his chakra spiked to its peak. He figured the Sharingan in Obito's eye must already be spinning into its Mangekyo pattern.

Ishiro didn't care; he nodded to Sōkai beside him.

Sōkai activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and peered over the edge of the porcelain platform.

He said nothing, but in Ishiro's Mind's Eye, the furious Obito who had been ready for battle instantly vanished from his senses.

Ishiro smiled faintly and continued speaking to the empty ground below: "No need to get excited. Just give me whatever. Rent is due once a month."

"I accept the five nature scrolls, and I'll take Yin and Yang Release notes, as long as they aren't duplicates. Furthermore, I'll also accept taijutsu notes, genjutsu notes, or sword technique notes."

"I'm not picky. Even Sharingan training notes or Wood Release training notes will do. I'm an easy guy to talk to."

Obito: ...

Black Zetsu: ...

White Zetsu: ...

The Four Disciples: ...

Ishiro shot a glare at his four traitorous disciples. What are those looks for?

After a long while, Obito reappeared, threw another scroll at Ishiro, and immediately vanished via Kamui, clearly unwilling to speak another word.

Ishiro's clone caught the scroll. Ah, Wood Release training notes.

"Heh, that Obito. Still throwing a tantrum," Ishiro muttered with a chuckle.

Then he shouted loudly to the ground below: "Transaction complete! You've already been here for half a month. I'll be back in another half-month to collect the rent!"

With that, Ishiro took his four disciples and left.

Underground, atop the head of the Gedo Statue, Obito reappeared, radiating a violent aura that warned everyone, friend or foe, to stay away.

Black Zetsu and White Zetsu knew better than to poke the bear right now, remaining perfectly silent.

After a moment, Obito collected his aura and spoke to White Zetsu: "Three things. First, immediately find any powerful missing-nin in the shinobi world."

"Second, adopt a batch of talented children. I will train them personally."

"Third, search the Uchiha clan. See if there are any other geniuses capable of awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan."

White Zetsu replied, "No problem."

Black Zetsu interjected: "Searching the entire world for talented children has too low a probability and the cost is too high."

"We've lost too many White Zetsu clones; we don't have the manpower or energy for that."

"Why don't we just pick from the major villages? First, we provoke a war between the great nations, and then we infiltrate their villages and take the kids."

"It's much easier to find geniuses among the bloodline clans."

Obito considered this. "Isn't Yahiko hosting the joint Chunin Exam?"

"Do you think Konoha, Suna, and Kumo will join forces to attack the Akatsuki?"

Black Zetsu thought about it. "It's possible."

Obito then asked, "Which village is the most suitable target?"

Black Zetsu pondered. "Konoha or Kirigakure. Konoha produces the most geniuses. Kiri has many bloodline clans, and we are more familiar with it."

Obito thought for a moment. "Then let's go with Kirigakure."
