Saturday had arrived, and as Renji woke up, a particular gleam was visible in his eyes.
When the clock struck 1:00 PM, Renji stepped out and headed to the Tokyo gymnasium, where everyone would be gathered.
On his way, he ran into Oikawa and Iwaizumi, who accompanied him.
[ A few minutes later ]
"Ohh, the monsters of Kitagawa Daiichi are here..." Kuroo shouted with a mischievous grin.
As he arrived, Renji scanned everyone. Ushijima and Tendō were stretching, the Miya twins were arguing, Bokuto was approaching him with energy, Kuroo had just spoken, and Kamori was there as well.
[ The annual monster gathering was about to begin. This gathering would take place every first Saturday or Sunday of the new school year to assess everyone's progress. ]
Renji stepped into the court and put his belongings away, followed by Iwaizumi and Oikawa. The others also joined them to do the same.
Once everyone was ready, Renji spoke up:
"Alright, we'll warm up and then move on to the game. 2 set, 21 points. As for the rest, no need for too many explanations, just one thing... don't get your butts kicked too hard today."
Atsumu: "Tchhh... so arrogant."
Kuroo: "He has the skills to back it up," he said as memories of the elementary school training camp resurfaced in everyone's mind.
Tendō, noticing this, smirked and said mockingly:
"Looks like you all suffered a lot back then."
Ushijima: "I've changed... This time, I will win," he said, obeying Renji.
Oikawa: "Hahaha... Either way, I'll be on Ren-chan's team."
Iwaizumi: "Me too."
Very quickly, the first teams were decided:
Renji's Team 🔴
Renji, Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Osamu, Kuroo
Ushijima's Team 🔵
Ushijima, Tendō, Atsumu, Kamori, Bokuto
Tendō: "Hehehe... Let's begin, let's begin!"
Renji: "Give it your all. In the end, I'll treat you all to ramen."
Bokuto: "Yessss! I'm fired up, Ren-chan!"
Renji: "Yeah, yeah... I'll let you taste some ramen after you've tasted despair first."
Kamori: "We'll see about that..."
The two teams stepped onto the court, and the tension was at its peak.
