Chapter 197 - Chapter 196: Domain of the Sovereign

Fear of defeat gnawed at the One-Star Dragon's pride. His eyes turned blood-red as he went berserk, a terrifying aura surging outward. A massive crimson ki sphere condensed in his hands and hurtled toward Goku like a falling meteor.

"Ki blasts don't work on me," Goku said, a faint, unreadable smile at his lips. "All they do is make me stronger."

He extended one hand. A devouring pull erupted from his palm, forming a bottomless black vortex that swallowed the One-Star Dragon's projectiles whole. Goku's aura spiked again.

"W-what?!"

The One-Star Dragon blanched. Goku's ceaselessly "impossible" techniques filled him with shock—and the first hints of helplessness.

"It's over. Die, One-Star Dragon!"

Goku flashed forward. His light-sword carved down at an angle—golden radiance flickered—and blood sprayed, punctuated by a ragged scream.

"D-damn you!"

Panting, the One-Star Dragon reeled back. Death had brushed past him by a hair's breadth.

"Oh? You dodged?"

Goku's gaze lingered, mildly surprised. From the dragon's chest to his abdomen yawned a bone-deep gash, raw and grisly.

"Goku, I'll kill you! I'll definitely kill you!"

Nearly cleaved in two, the One-Star Dragon howled at the sky, half-mad. The wound refused to close quickly, stoking his fear into fury. Eyes blazing, he unleashed another storm: ki bullets poured down like rain.

"Hahaha—die! As long as I keep you at range, why should I fear that sword?"

"You do have a brain," Goku admitted as he slipped through the barrage, a wry smile touching his mouth. "But underestimate me, and you'll die for it."

His blade suddenly extended, erupting into a ten-thousand-kilometers arc of light. With a casual sweep, he cleaved downward. Space along the path split like paper, leaving a yawning scar. The incoming blasts were sheared neatly in half and dissolved into drifting motes.

The sword light arrived in a heartbeat, spanning the sky. No matter how the One-Star Dragon twisted, the colossal blade tracked him relentlessly. His lifeline was locked; there was nowhere to run.

"Don't look down on me, Goku!"

Snarling, he forced his aura to its peak. Flames of ki roared around him as he pressed his palms together. A colossal beam gathered between them, then surged up to meet the descending sword.

A cataclysmic detonation shook the void. The universe itself seemed to tremble. Even distant worlds shattered under the spread of that force.

The scale of the devastation defied imagination.

"Oh? You blocked it. So you do have some skill," Goku said, faintly impressed. Then he smiled. "But this isn't its true power. Let me show you."

At his words, a supreme, annihilating sword-intent descended. The blade's radiance blazed brighter, as if given life—regal, absolute, a cutter of all things.

With a wet rip, the One-Star Dragon's giant beam split in two. The sword carved straight down, shattering layers of space, and closed the final span in an instant.

Light flashed.

The One-Star Dragon's muscular body parted cleanly at the waist.

"D-damn it! Losing to a filthy monkey… I won't accept this—I won't! Goku, I swear I'll kill you! Do you hear me? I'll—ahhhh—just you wait—!"

His roar of unwillingness faded as his form grew transparent, on the verge of vanishing completely.

Then the air warped. Four streaks of light shot out of the void and plunged into the fading dragon's body.

Radiance engulfed him. A universe-shaking aura crashed down like a tidal wave.

"Hahaha—Goku! Looks like fate favors me. Today is your death day!"

Laughing thunder rolled across the sky as the One-Star Dragon's tall frame reformed within the blinding light.

"Damn Dimensional Travel System… so it was you messing with me after all."

Goku's face darkened.

---

"What's wrong, Goku? Surprised by my power? And this isn't even all of it. I don't know why the other Dragon Balls flew out, but getting my life back is a gift I'll take. This time, I won't give you a single opening."

As he spoke, two Dragon Balls—five-star and seven-star—appeared in the dragon's hands. He opened wide and swallowed them both. His aura erupted, climbing violently. With a roar, seven orbs glimmered into view across his chest.

"Hahaha! Goku, I've absorbed the power of the other six Dragon Balls. I am the Super One-Star Dragon. No matter how strong you are, you cannot defeat me now!"

Goku's expression stayed grim. Just moments ago, four Dragon Balls he had sealed inside his world ring had inexplicably flown out and merged with the One-Star Dragon, saving his life.

And the culprit was the very device in Goku's control: the Dimensional Travel System.

"So you really are alive… What are you plotting? Spitting out the Dragon Balls so he could absorb them—what's your game?" Goku muttered, face clouded.

Silence answered him.

"You bastard. You dared to cross me. When I have time, I'll deal with you properly," he growled. But the system was formless—there was nothing to grab.

"What are you mumbling about, Goku? Has my aura rattled you? Even if you beg, I won't spare you. Come meet your end!"

The Super One-Star Dragon kicked off the air, the void itself shuddering as he blasted toward Goku like a cannon shell.

Goku's eyes tightened. The dragon's power now vastly exceeded his own Super Saiyan 4 state. He didn't dare be careless. Light-sword raised, he cleaved down.

Cold gleams rippled; space split along the edge.

The Super One-Star Dragon jerked to a halt, springing backward, face grave. Even after absorbing six Dragon Balls, that sword set every instinct screaming.

"The same trick won't work on me twice."

With a snort, he lunged again, fist wreathed in annihilating force, and drove it straight at Goku.

"Fool."

Goku's blade came down without mercy.

A shrill clang rang through the void.

"What?!"

Goku's eyes widened.

Sparks showered from the dragon's wrist. A jagged bone-spur jutting from his forearm had caught the True God Sword and held it fast.

"Heh-heh—die, Goku!"

The dragon's right fist crashed into Goku's chest, the blow riding a hurricane of force.

Boom.

Goku was hurled back, skidding a kilometer through the air before he righted himself.

"So he blocked my True God Sword…"

Surprise flickered across Goku's eyes, then he shook his head. "It's only the Super Saiyan 4 version of the True God Sword—not the Super Saiyan God version. Its power really is limited."

"Goku, now isn't the time to be impressed. Hand over your life!"

The Super One-Star Dragon's ki surged skyward like a pillar, his presence dreadful. He flickered forward and punched.

They met—and at the first touch, a monstrous force bowled Goku away. The impact was so overwhelming it tore at him from the inside; blood touched the corner of his lips as he staggered back.

His blade sang in his grip. With a sharp sweep he sent a streak of light slicing down—only for the dragon's bone-spur to catch and parry it again.
