Lilith lay on the soft grass, gazing up at the Avalon sky. The sun, high above, was filtered by drifting clouds that spread a gentle warmth, casting dancing shadows across the ground. The peaceful interplay between light and shadow painted the grasslands in hues of gold and green.
A calm breeze blew past, twirling her long, golden hair and lifting a tuft of grass that swirled toward the sunlight. The faint, earthy fragrance of the greenery washed over her, serene and rejuvenating.
Nearby stretched an immense flowerbed that brimmed with every type of flower Lilith could recall from herbology. The outer rim was vibrant enough, but it was the center that pulsed with color and enchantment. Those central blossoms shimmered with reflected sunlight, giving off rainbow-like trails that lured butterflies into a rhythmic dance.
Beyond the flowerbed was a vast, crystalline lake.
It mirrored the blue sky so perfectly that it seemed like liquid sapphire—more vivid and pristine than any gemstone Lilith had ever seen.
Drawn in by the beauty, she found it hard to tear her eyes away. Her attention fixed on a lone green boat anchored in the center of the lake. It had been sitting so still that it seemed to merge with the water itself.
The lake's stillness echoed the ancient silence of Avalon—
until soft noises drifted across from the other side.
That distant edge merged into an ancient forest sprawling toward the towering snow-capped mountains. The forest canopy was a mix of giants—massive trees with thick boughs—and smaller varieties: tangled vines, dwarf trees, and thick undergrowth, resembling a myriad of forest spirits in motion.
Sunlight filtered through the scattered clouds, casting broken golden rays that danced over the forest. The light fell on various small animals—white rabbits, foxes, squirrels, and even cats—frolicking through the meadows, under the trees, and among the blossoms.
Two cats wandered toward the grass and flopped down into a shallow nest of long-fallen leaves. Unconcerned by Lilith's presence, they immediately began mating.
"Shameless," Lilith muttered, her cheeks flushing as she averted her gaze and looked toward the solemn, snowy peaks.
The mountains loomed beneath a heavy shroud of clouds, barren and colorless. A pure sheet of snow wrapped them like silken death shrouds—soft, immaculate, and silently chilling.
A breeze swept past, bringing with it a deep breath of time itself. It stirred the trees, grasslands, and flowerbed, as if Avalon were breathing.
Lilith didn't fully understand the sensation, but her heart stirred with reverence. This place carried a holiness even greater than her first glimpse of Hogwarts.
She recalled Dracula's parting words—Turn it on. The Avalon Gate.
Lilith rose to her feet.
"So this is Avalon?
The Avalon—the land of King Arthur, who drew the sword from the lake?
That lake… the Lake of the Lady? And Merlin…?"
Her eyes gleamed.
"This is truly Wonderland!"
Every young witch and wizard had grown up with the legend of Arthur and Merlin—their earliest heroes.
Lilith had been no exception.
Despite being cursed with virus magic, her body felt light, almost weightless, and her soul seemed to harmonize with the land itself.
Suddenly, her eyes widened.
"Oh no—Moriarty!"
She had come to Avalon to save him.
He had fallen under Dracula's control.
"Moriarty! Moriarty—where are you?"
Her voice echoed through the garden.
She drew her wand and swept it in a grand arc, pulling grass into the air.
Using the Ten Thousand Bullets casting method, she launched a vibrant plume of green grass upward like a signal flare.
A firm voice rang from afar, calm and steady.
"Lilith!"
She turned quickly.
Moriarty stood within the flowerbed, staff in hand, wearing a warm smile.
His eyes shone with clarity—no trace of Dracula's influence remained.
A surge of relief flooded her heart. Tears sprang unbidden to her eyes as she sprinted toward him.
With a sweep of his staff, Moriarty summoned a spiral of blossoms.
The petal-formed platform rose beneath her feet and carried her gently to him.
Lilith wiped her tears before she landed, and she touched down with a light hop, arms folded.
She tilted her chin at him.
"You made us worry."
A smirk tugged at her lips.
"Now, explain yourself. Why the act? And how did you break free from Dracula's control?"
"Would Dracula have brought us to Avalon willingly if I hadn't?" Moriarty asked, lips curled in amusement.
"To enter Avalon requires a unique combination of dragon and elven incantations. I can cast them—but the particular spell was known only to Dracula."
He lifted his staff thoughtfully.
"He chanted the spell, and we were drawn through his alchemical matrix. Who would've guessed that Merlin hid Avalon within a brain-dimensional space he crafted himself?"
Lilith nodded slowly, awed.
Moriarty's grin widened.
"As for breaking free from his control—he told us how during our first encounter."
"He did?" Lilith blinked. Then, comprehension dawned.
"Wait… Don't disturb the sleeping dragon?"
"Exactly," Moriarty confirmed.
"That was the original seal spell Merlin used to imprison Dracula!"
He raised his staff again and pointed toward the mid-region of the snow-capped mountains.
"Look closely. The Headless Horseman—he's scrambling up the slopes. After I expelled him from the matrix using that phrase, he fled like a banshee. I'd bet anything his head is buried at the summit."
Lilith's eyes sparkled as she spotted a small, silver glint moving rapidly across the snow.
It was Dracula—armored, headless, trudging unevenly through the drifts.
"He made us run in circles," Lilith muttered.
"Let's end this! I'll roast him myself."
Moriarty raised his staff with a chuckle.
The air swirled with wind magic.
In resonant dragon-tongue, he chanted:
"Don't disturb the sleeping dragon!"
BOOM!
The spell's resonance echoed through the valley.
Moriarty waved his staff again to protect them.
"Close the Earplugs and Listen!"
The words muffled the explosion as an avalanche roared down the mountainside.
Ice and snow cascaded into the lake like tidal waves.
Lilith huddled close to Moriarty, both shielded by a glimmering ice barrier.
The collapsing snow uncovered something dark beneath—jagged and vast.
Lilith stared.
"What… is that?" she whispered, eyes wide.
"It's not just rock," Moriarty muttered. His brow creased.
A shout came from above.
"Oi! Sir! Lilith!"
Jericho appeared overhead, waving enthusiastically.
He held two bucks—one in each hand—and wore a triumphant grin.
"Look what I caught!" he called. "Winter's gonna be cozy!"
He landed beside them, dragging the deer.
"They woke me up licking my face. Can you believe it?"
"And your thanks was killing them?" Lilith raised a skeptical brow.
Jericho laughed.
"It's an honor. Better than rotting in the woods."
Then he turned to the avalanche.
"What happened? That noise nearly killed me! Where's Dracula?"
"Buried, hopefully," Moriarty said, eyes fixed on the mountaintop.
"Notice anything? The virus magic—it's weakening here."
Jericho and Lilith nodded—
but before they could respond, another tremor rocked the ground.
The dark shape atop the peak shifted.
Then it rose—unfolding like a serpent awakening from centuries of slumber.
The mountaintop wasn't a mountain.
It was a dragon.
Lilith gasped.
"Merlin…"
Jericho dropped one of the deer in shock.
Moriarty's staff trembled.
The coiled black neck of the massive creature rose into the sky.
The head alone was the size of the entire Quidditch pitch.
It opened its colossal maw—
and in deep, resonant dragon language, it spoke:
"Do not disturb the sleeping dragon!"
Inside its jaws… was Dracula's head.
With a mighty snort, the dragon hurled it from the mountain.
Dracula crashed into the snow, trailing black smoke.
Virus magic exploded outward like a cloud of poison.
"MERLIN!" Dracula screamed.
"You can't seal me again! Your prison was broken—by Hogwarts students! You can't trap me anymore!"
His voice rang with fury.
His head radiated shadows.
The virus surged like a tidal wave.
Lilith turned, eyes wide.
"Wait… Merlin is that dragon?!"
Her jaw dropped—
and for once,
she was utterly speechless.
