"Do you think I would be with you if I knew where to get him?" Lucien scoffed bitterly. The stranger's lips curled in cruel laughter.
"You do not call the shots," he paused. His gaze settled on Lucien like a lion staring at its next meal.
"You will do as told," his lips twitched. Lucien opened his mouth, but his body was roughly tossed to the side, and his ass landed on the rough tar.
"Before sundown is all you have," the words echoed like a forgotten lyric. Lucien bit down on his lips bitterly. This was how failure felt.
Everything had been going just fine, and Blair had to step in and destroy it all. The vision of his plans was well-planned, but now he could taste the bitterness of failure on the tip of his tongue.
Lucien picked himself up, watching the car speed into the distance. He walked off to the pavement and continued his tired journey back home.
