Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter 1: Prologue

Superhumans.

That's what they're called now—humans who awakened strange powers through genetic mutations.

It all started in the year X-199. That was the year we learned we weren't alone. Eden, our world, wasn't the only cradle of intelligent life. Far from it.

There were others.

Vampires, Elves, Phoenixes, Dragons, Angels, Demons… and, eventually, the ones who shattered our understanding of reality—Gods.

We were frogs in a well, staring at the sky and thinking it was the world.

When He arrived, everything changed.

His name was Yahweh, a god who descended to Eden. He wasn't cruel or distant like the ones in ancient tales. No—he radiated benevolence. So much so, it turned out to be his core power: [Omnibenevolence].

It was a miracle that he was the one to visit us.

In his presence, the world itself felt lighter. Warmer. Realer.

He came to teach, not to rule.

He told us that every being holds a soul-space—a reservoir that determines how much power they can wield. He called it "power space." Every skill, every trait, every mystical force we call a "power" resides in this space.

Most beings have limited power space.

Normal humans have very little—almost none at all.

Gods don't have a limit. A god's power space is infinite.

They can hold an endless array of abilities—and something beyond regular powers: Authorities.

An Authority isn't just power. It's dominion—rulership over a concept or law of reality.

Even their very bodies—their species, their traits—count as powers. These are called Physiologies.

Most beings only have one. If they try to take more, they fuse or mutate until only one remains.

Gods, of course, are the exception. They can carry many—called forms—because their souls can handle it. Yahweh, by virtue of [Omnibenevolence], had several.

To demonstrate, he shifted forms—revealing a creature known as the White Dragon. His divine body turned draconic, cloaked in white scales that glowed like moonlight. He transformed using one of the sub-powers of [Omnibenevolence], known as [White Dragon Form].

He explained that powerful gods often possess dragon forms—not because they were born with them, but because dragons, in essence, are power. To wear one is to embody strength itself.

He shared everything we were ready to hear.

And before he left, he removed a seal hidden deep within Eden—one that restricted our evolution. Its removal marked the beginning of a new era:

The Age of Superhumans.

A century later, in X-299, the first was born. His power? [Telekinesis].

That moment marked a turning point in human history.

After that, many Superhumans began to appear—and as with any blessing, there came a curse.

Some animals also developed powers, transforming into what we now call 'Monsters.'

Back then in Eden, Superhumans and Monsters were already considered difficult to deal with.

That was a thousand years ago.

Now, it's X-1199.

Other races now coexist with us. Some flaunt their might; others hide in the shadows.

This is the Age of the Supernaturals.

"And that's why you should focus more on your power, Noir. You possess the same ability as the first. Are you even listening—Noir!"

A voice snapped through the classroom.

An adult woman in her forties with black hair scanned the rows of students until her eyes landed on the last bench.

A lustrous black head rested on the desk, with strands of red and blue catching the light.

Sleeping. Again.

She narrowed her eyes. "You bastard…"

Without hesitation, she reached into her desk and pulled out a piece of chalk. Chalk was obsolete in modern classrooms, but she insisted on keeping it around—for moments like this.

"You think it'll hit him?" (Student 1)

"No chance. Sensei's gonna regret it." (Student 2)

A quiet ripple of bets and murmurs passed through the room.

The teacher flicked the chalk.

It whistled forward—and froze mid-air.

It hovered above the silver head, trembling. Then, without warning, it shot back.

Faster. Sharper. Wreathed in heat.

The teacher's eyes widened. The chalk was glowing—red-hot, spinning like a bullet.

"She's going to die," someone whispered.

But before it struck—

"Yaaawn… Man, that was a good nap."

The black-haired boy sat up, stretching.

Now fully visible, his features drew in every gaze. Neck-length lustrous black hair with fiery red and light blue strands. Red and Blue—heterochromatic eyes. Milky white skin. A face so finely sculpted it made gender feel like an irrelevant detail.

The class's unofficial consensus: Noir looked like an anime character.

He blinked slowly. "Why's everyone so quiet?"

Some students pointed.

He turned—and saw the chalk, still floating above his teacher's glabella.

"…Oh."

Realization dawned. In the entire academy, there were only a handful of telekinesis users. In his class? Only one.

"Ahaha…?" He laughed weakly. With a wave, the chalk evaporated. "I… don't know how that happened. Sorry, Sensei."

He bowed slightly.

The tension deflated. Students who had held their breath finally relaxed.

He wasn't malicious. They all knew that. If he were… gulp. Best not to think about it.

The teacher slowly exhaled and gave a tight nod.

"No… It was my mistake. I didn't know your power control was so… complete. You don't need to apologize."

She turned to the class. "Everyone, class is dismissed."

Then she left.

Noir glanced around, muttering under his breath, "Well… nothing exploded this time."

His bag hovered behind him as he strolled out of the room.

"And that's what happened in class today, Director Oak," the teacher concluded, standing rigidly in front of the old man's desk. "That boy is dangerous. I sincerely hope you'll take proper action."

To her surprise, the director leaned back in his chair and let out a hearty laugh.

"Haha! So you finally got a taste of what my boy can do, Miss Lily."

Lily blinked, stunned. Was he… proud?

Her brows furrowed. "Director, I don't think you understand. That chalk could've—"

"I understand perfectly," Oak said, still smiling but with a calming wave of his hand. "I do. And you're right—it could've ended badly. But it didn't, did it?"

She stared at him. "You're defending him."

Oak's smile faded, and he adjusted his posture, tone softening. "I'm not defending recklessness. I'm saying he's in control. If Noir hadn't restrained that power, we wouldn't be having this conversation. There'd be a crater in the classroom and half your students in the infirmary."

"That's not the point!" Lily snapped, her voice rising despite herself. "Since when do you play favorites? You never acted like this when we were in the Colombia branch. What changed after moving to New York?"

There was a beat of silence.

Then Oak sighed, running a hand through his white hair. "You're wrong. I don't play favorites—not then, not now. But Noir… he's different. And I know him better than anyone."

Lily narrowed her eyes. "What kind of relationship do you have with him?"

Oak met her gaze, calm and unwavering. "I raised him."

She froze.

"Noir's been with me since he was a baby. Seventeen years now. We may not be related by blood, but I know how that boy thinks. He wouldn't hurt anyone without a damn good reason. If anything, he's more careful than most adults I know."

Lily lowered her head slightly, trying to process that.

Oak stood up, walked over to the window, and looked out at the campus bathed in late morning light.

"Lily," he said, voice quieter now, "we've known each other a long time. Twenty years, if I'm counting right. So I'm going to tell you something I've never told anyone. But I need your word that it stays between us."

She looked up. "…You have it."

Oak gave a small, satisfied nod. "Good."

He reached into a drawer and pulled out a brown cap, placing it on his head. A pair of thin-framed contact lenses glinted briefly between his brows, completing the shift from administrator to storyteller.

"It was seventeen years ago," he began, eyes distant now. "I still had my hair black back then…"
