Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Zatt and a new from Inazuma

"First order, fifty million Mora. This five million can be counted as well. Your commission is 10%, so a total of 5.5 million."

Su Bai counted out 110 notes of 50,000 denomination from the payment and handed them to Baixiao. As a good boss in the new era, he would never delay employee wages.

"Boss..." Baixiao was stunned, staring at the commission Su Bai offered. She didn't know whether to accept it or not. After all, in Liyue, there had never been such a method of settling payments.

"Take it. This is what you deserve. I hope you can secure more orders in the future." Su Bai pushed the money toward Baixiao, inwardly sighing with emotion.

If it weren't for Baixiao, even if the shop's amethysts were completely sold out, it would barely be enough to cover this amount in commissions.

Truly, no businessperson remains completely clean. That little girl Linlang—no wonder she's been visiting so frequently.

But now, thanks to Ningguang, if she hadn't sent such a capable little secretary, we'd probably still be getting shortchanged.

Baixiao no longer hesitated and quietly placed the Mora into her purse, carefully storing each note.

Each note was 50,000. Back when she first joined Yuehai Pavilion as an intern secretary, her monthly salary was only five notes.

Although her salary had increased significantly over the years working under Ningguang, it was still only a little over three million Mora per month.

But now, with just one order, taking no more than half an hour, she had earned over five million—almost two months' salary.

Hmm. For a moment, Baixiao's gaze toward Su Bai softened considerably. After all, who wouldn't like a boss who splurges so generously?

Anyway, her mission included helping to run the shop. Taking the opportunity to earn some extra money seemed perfectly reasonable.

"Oh? Mr. Zatt?" Su Bai, who had been sitting, suddenly noticed a familiar figure entering the shop. Taking a closer look, his face lit up with joy.

"Ah, Boss Su, my dear friend. I've received the wheat from last time; it's already on a ship bound for Snezhnaya," Zatt said with a hearty laugh, his mood exceedingly cheerful.

Because of this, he had even been praised by a Harbinger!

"Hahaha, my friend, you certainly wouldn't guess the purpose of my visit besides thanking you."

Su Bai, however, remained unhurried. While pouring tea, he calmly listened to Zatt build up suspense.

"Mr. Zatt possesses the wisdom of the winter. How could I possibly guess?"

As if he couldn't guess—it was written all over Zatt's face.

Though Su Bai understood perfectly, he still had to save face for the other party. After all, this was a major client.

"Hahaha, indeed, the people of Liyue always know how to make one feel at ease. Boss Su, with your immense wealth, even the Harbingers of Snezhnaya wish to cooperate with you." Zatt didn't elaborate further and shifted the topic to state his purpose.

"Oh? I have such an honor? May I ask which Harbinger?" Su Bai didn't take it lightly upon hearing this. Being targeted by a Fatui Harbinger was hardly good news.

Yet he couldn't understand why a total of just 80,000 kilograms of goods had attracted the attention of a Harbinger. Was it that important?

Or was it like Zhongli—had they sensed the aura from beyond the stars?

Su Bai quietly watched Zatt, waiting for him to explain.

"Have you heard? In Inazuma, a proposal recently passed: the Sakoku Decree and the Vision Hunt Decree." Zatt leaned in and whispered.

"Is that so? But what does that have to do with grain merchants?"

Su Bai first furrowed his brows seriously, then spread his hands.

At this point, Su Bai naturally understood what was going on, but he couldn't show it. Acting this way was also a means to gain the upper hand.

"Ah, doesn't Mr. Su know? The Sangonomiya region has long been at odds with the Shogunate. Now, with the implementation of the Vision Hunt Decree, Sangonomiya has risen in rebellion against the Raiden Shogun."

Zatt clenched his fists, indignation burning in his eyes.

"And Sangonomiya has always been resource-poor, struggling to be self-sufficient. Our Snezhnayan Harbinger, Pantalone, cannot bear to see the rebels suffer. He specifically ordered me to purchase supplies in Liyue to aid Watatsumi Island."

Then, Zatt looked intently at Su Bai, his eyes brimming with excitement.

"Food, weapons, armor—I need everything. Could Boss Su provide them in large quantities at a favorable price?"

After all this roundabout talk, Su Bai finally understood.

This Zatt was most likely a fanatic. Now, due to political necessities, Snezhnaya was aiding Watatsumi Island, and supplies were naturally being procured locally—in Liyue.

Zatt was the one tasked with purchasing and transporting these supplies.

"Favorable prices are certainly possible! After all, we are good cooperative friends!" Su Bai first agreed to half of it, but before Zatt could respond, he continued.

"However, Mr. Zatt, you must understand—I'm just a general goods seller. When it comes to weapons and equipment, I'm afraid I can't help."

"Oh... my friend, that sounds rather distant. What are those on the shelf over there?" Zatt frowned upon hearing this, gesturing toward a broad iron sword and a wooden bow on the shelf.

"Mr. Zatt, I think you've misunderstood. The people of Liyue have a habit of collecting gifts. These are merely retro-style ceremonial items, registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs."

Su Bai spread his hands and explained.

Just kidding. No matter how free Liyue's maritime trade was, it wouldn't permit civilians to sell weapons abroad. From the very beginning, Su Bai had clearly applied to sell ceremonial items.

"How... complicated."

Zatt walked over, took down the bow, and drew it fully with a light pull. The draw weight was low, which disappointed him slightly.

He then aimed at the wall and released, wanting to test the iron sword.

Thwack!

A powerful twang of the bowstring exploded in his ears, startling Zatt. He stared dumbfounded at the arrow embedded deep in the wall, almost piercing through it.
