"Oh no, you! Why did you hit it so hard?!"
Dugu Bo glared fiercely at Zhuge Lan.
Zhuge Lan, knowing he was in the wrong, scratched his head awkwardly.
As the sound of the guards' footsteps grew closer, Zhuge Lan's heart rate involuntarily quickened.
He looked at Dugu Bo with a hint of urgency and said,
"Old Poison, hurry up and think of something; they'll be here any second!"
Dugu Bo's face was grim as he roared in a low voice,
"What else can we do? Don't you have the Time-Space Brush? Use it now! What are you waiting for?!"
Zhuge Lan suddenly understood. He quickly pulled the Time-Space Brush from his Arms and started gesturing frantically, muttering,
"Oh, I almost forgot about this thing."
Just then, the guards' voices could be heard clearly:
"Those inside, listen up! You are surrounded. I don't care how you got in, surrender yourselves obediently!"
Fine beads of sweat appeared on Zhuge Lan's forehead. While trying to concentrate on using the Time-Space Brush, he cursed loudly,
"This broken brush, don't fail me at a crucial moment!"
Dugu Bo stared intently at the main door, his entire spirit power surging.
He was ready to respond to any sudden situation at any time. He kept urging, "Faster, faster!"
The person in charge of guarding the library was also very puzzled:
"I've clearly been guarding here the whole time, and I didn't see when they entered."
A moment later,
the guards surrounded the library. One of the guards held a circular plate and inserted it into a circular hole on the main door.
At this moment, a faint spirit power shield on the main door deactivated.
Finally,
just as the guards were about to break through the door, Zhuge Lan finally completed the Time-Space Brush's spell.
The Time-Space Brush emitted a faint glow, enveloping him and Dugu Bo. Their figures instantly blurred.
The guards rushed into the room, only to see an empty space and the overturned books.
They looked at each other, their faces filled with disbelief.
"Where are they? How did they disappear?"
A guard asked in confusion.
"This... how is this possible? Could they have learned invisibility?"
Another guard's eyes widened, unable to believe the scene before him, as he carefully examined everything around him.
At this moment,
the middle-aged man received the news and rushed over.
"Sir!"
The guards quickly bowed in salute.
"Where are they?!"
The middle-aged man shouted loudly.
He walked into the library and saw the chaotic scene, his face instantly becoming extremely grim.
"What happened here?"
He asked angrily.
The guards quickly saluted, and one of them answered nervously,
"Sir, we rushed over when we heard movement inside, but when we came in, the people were already gone, only these books…"
Another guard quickly added,
"We've been standing guard outside the door the whole time. They definitely didn't enter or escape through the main door, but this library only has this one passage…"
The guard's voice grew less confident as he spoke, as if he truly believed he had been distracted and hadn't noticed.
The middle-aged man frowned and carefully examined the surroundings, especially the tightly shut main door.
He snorted coldly and said,
"It must be those two, Zhuge Lan, who possess some evil magic that allows them to pass through walls and burrow into the ground."
"Sir, what should we do now?"
A guard asked cautiously.
The middle-aged man pondered for a moment and said,
"Issue an order to strengthen the security of the entire Spirit Hall, especially all entry and exit points. They can't have gone far; search for them!"
"Yes, sir!"
The guards took the order and left.
Meanwhile,
Zhuge Lan and Dugu Bo had already been teleported to the backyard of a certain house by the Time-Space Brush. They gasped for breath and looked at each other with lingering fear.
"That was close; we almost got caught."
Zhuge Lan said, patting his chest.
Dugu Bo rolled his eyes at him and said,
"It's all your fault for insisting on looking for treasures there. Now look, we almost lost our lives."
Zhuge Lan smiled helplessly and said,
"I didn't expect this to happen. But speaking of which, there really are a lot of good things in the Spirit Hall's library. It's a pity I didn't have time to grab more."
Dugu Bo said irritably,
"You only think about treasures. Don't forget our purpose here is to save someone. But then again, it's your old flame we're saving, so why am I more anxious than you? It's like the emperor isn't worried, but the eunuch is…"
Zhuge Lan smiled awkwardly and said,
"I know, I know. So what do we do now? We still have to save Su Biluo."
Dugu Bo thought for a moment and said,
"Let's find a place to hide first, observe the movements of Spirit Hall, and then figure out how to save her."
"That's all we can do."
Zhuge Lan agreed.
So, the two found a hidden corner and hid.
After a while, Zhuge Lan couldn't help but ask,
"Old Poison, who do you think that middle-aged man was? He seemed very powerful, and all those guards listened to him."
Dugu Bo frowned and said,
"I'm not too sure either; who knows. But to have such a position in Spirit Hall, he's definitely not a simple person. He's probably the head of those Spirit Hall guards."
"Then we've really gotten ourselves into big trouble this time."
Dugu Bo sighed.
Zhuge Lan, however, didn't think so and said,
"What's there to be afraid of? When soldiers come, we'll block them; when water comes, we'll cover it with earth. There's always a way out. Since we're here, we must save her."
Dugu Bo gave a fake smile and said disdainfully, "Hmph, you say it so easily."
"Quickly sense Su Biluo's location."
Dugu Bo said.
Just as they were discussing their next plan, they suddenly heard footsteps approaching from not far away.
The two immediately became alert, held their breath, and quietly observed the situation outside.
They saw several Spirit Hall guards walking past their hiding place, carefully searching for their whereabouts.
They were still discussing amongst themselves:
"Where do you think those two ran off to?"
A guard said.
"Who knows, maybe they've already escaped from Spirit Hall."
Another guard replied.
"Impossible. Spirit Hall is so heavily guarded; how could they easily escape? I think they must still be hiding in some corner."
An older guard said.
"You know, those two could enter and exit our library as they pleased, and the library's main door was always closed."
A guard said, his tone full of disbelief.
The older guard next to him also chimed in,
"That's right, if he hadn't suddenly hammered the door from inside, we would still be in the dark and wouldn't have known anyone had entered."
The guard next to them interrupted their conversation:
"Alright, since that's the case, we need to search every place even more carefully. If we don't find them, the Sir will definitely blame us."
