When the undergarment reached her waist, Zayd lifted her gently, positioning her so that her back leaned against his chest. In one swift motion, her undergarment slipped down and fell to the floor, leaving her completely exposed in front of him.
The silence that followed was deafening. Lilith wished the ground would swallow her whole. There was nothing thrilling about standing naked before her captor, the man she despised most. Instead, shame crawled over her skin, and what stung more was the helplessness that came with it. There was nothing she could do.
She swallowed hard, anxious, waiting for him to carry her again but nothing happened. Just as she was about to turn and ask what was going on, she heard a faint rustling and frowned.
