Miri's Pov
The first half of the school holiday slipped by quicker than I'd expected, and with it came the inevitable goodbye. Caius had stayed back with me and Riven longer than most parents would have allowed, but eventually, the call from his family came.
We left the house Uncle Lucian had given us the morning after, cleaning up every corner until it looked exactly the way we'd met it. Even Riven helped—which, knowing him, was a small miracle. The amount of mischief and chaos that boy caused in those rooms… well, let's just say it took all three of us to undo it. By the time we were done, the place looked spotless, but I couldn't shake the memory of everything we'd done inside those walls. If stone could talk, that poor house would never shut up.
"And you?" I asked just before we moved out. "Where are you going?"
