"Ming... understood."
Approaching Ayr at such close distance, the pirates turned pale with fright.
Now, he didn't dare ask why Ayr refused this commission.
He just wanted to get out of this place as quickly as possible.
"Besides, go back and help remind Shiki not to target Roger," Ayr said calmly, glancing at him. "Or he'll end up regretting it."
"I... I know, I'll tell Admiral Shiki when I return," the pirate nodded repeatedly, not daring to meet Ayr's gaze.
"So, is there anything else?"
"No! No, Mr. Ayr, we'll leave immediately!" the pirate shook his head frantically.
This pirate, whose bounty approached one billion berries, was quite famous even among the Flying Pirates under the Golden Lion, holding considerable status.
But now, in front of Ayr, he had completely lost his former arrogance.
The only thing running through his mind was a desperate urge to escape this terrifying place!
"You can go. Remember exactly what I said ā report it word for word to Shiki."
"Understood!"
Hearing this, Ayr took one last glance at them, then leaned back into his chair, continuing to drink lazily.
The few pirates standing near the door looked at each other nervously.
Without the slightest hesitation, they scrambled to leave the place at the fastest speed.
ā
New World, unknown island.
Inside a vast grand hall, the Golden Lion, Shiki, sat high upon his throne.
Hearing the reports from the pirates, Shiki's expression darkened, his face serious.
"That guy Ayr⦠he has a deep connection with Roger," Shiki muttered, his voice heavy.
Originally, Shiki planned to leverage Ayr's network to track down Roger's whereabouts.
Unexpectedly, Ayr instead warned him ā directly and without hiding his disdain.
This was a development Shiki hadn't foreseen.
Around him, the pirates gathered in the hall looked at each other uneasily.
One of them finally asked, worried, "Admiral Shiki, are we still going to investigate Roger's crew and try to rope them in?"
Though on the surface they spoke of 'recruiting,' everyone here knew very well: if they met the Roger Pirates in the New World, it would almost certainly end in war.
And if that happened, Ayr would not stay silent.
The pirate who had visited Ayr recalled the terrifying aura Ayr released that day.
Since that encounter, an unshakable shadow had settled over his heart.
He was now absolutely terrified of meeting Ayr again.
"Why wouldn't we?" Golden Lion snorted coldly, shaking the room with his Conqueror's Haki.
He understood better than anyone else: if he wanted to dominate the world, he needed Roger's strength alongside his own.
Otherwise⦠even if all the other pirates in the New World joined forces, just Ayr alone would be enough to crush their ambitions!
"If we really start investigating Roger, Ayr will definitely intervene, Admiral Shiki. That could be disastrous for us," another pirate warned cautiously.
Golden Lion fell into a heavy silence.
After a moment, he suddenly laughed.
"We need a helping hand," Shiki said, a dangerous gleam in his eyes.
This man ā Roger ā was someone Shiki was determined to either recruit or destroy.
Although Ayr's interference made things far more complicated, it wasn't entirely hopeless.
If Shiki could form an alliance with another great pirate of the New World, they could contend with Ayr's overwhelming strength.
Even if Ayr came to stop them, they would have the power to push back!
"Admiral Shiki... you mean to join forces with another major pirate?" someone asked hesitantly.
"Exactly," Shiki said, lighting a thick cigar.
"But... who would be willing to ally with us?"
The pirates exchanged uncertain glances.
After all, most of the major pirates ruling the New World were arrogant monsters, unwilling to bow their heads or cooperate with others.
"Relax. I already have a suitable candidate," Golden Lion said, grinning wickedly.
ā
Several days later, Wanokuni.
Inside the great hall of Onigashima, Kaido sat on his throne, guzzling down wine.
Beside him stood Jhin, silent and imposing as always.
At that moment, Quinn burst into the hall, waving a weapon excitedly.
"Brother Kaido, it worked!"
"Quinn, you idiot, why are you barging in here with a weapon?!" Jhin growled, his wings flaring slightly.
"Shut up, Jhin!" Quinn snapped back, clearly irritated. "I'm not here to fight you today."
Though both were part of the infamous "All-Stars" of the Beasts Pirates, the relationship between Jhin and Quinn had always been strained.
They argued constantly, often escalating into near-violent brawls.
Their rivalry was well-known among the crew.
Kaido frowned at the commotion.
"What is it, Quinn?" he asked impatiently.
Upon hearing Kaido's question, Quinn immediately shifted gears.
"We discovered seastone in Wanokuni some time ago, right? The mineral that suppresses Devil Fruit powers?"
"Yeah, so?" Kaido leaned forward, interested.
"I've been researching a way to forge it into weapons. And guess what? We've finally succeeded! We've already started mass production!" Quinn announced proudly.
The reason Devil Fruit users feared the sea was because of the mysterious PYROBLOIN element infused in seawater.
Seastone contained this same element.
However, seastone itself was almost as hard as diamond ā nearly impossible to shape with conventional methods.
For years, despite discovering seastone deposits, the Beasts Pirates couldn't use it effectively.
But Quinn never gave up.
After relentless experimentation and trial and error, he had finally found a method to forge seastone into deadly weapons.
"Oh? Is that true?"
Kaido's eyes gleamed with excitement.
"See for yourself, Kaido-oniisan!" Quinn said, handing over a gleaming weapon.
Kaido grasped the blade by its seastone-forged tip.
Instantly, his body reacted ā beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and he felt a sudden, crushing weakness.
His normally monstrous abilities, even his natural Zoan transformation, were momentarily suppressed.
Kaido quickly shifted his grip to the normal steel hilt and roared with laughter.
"Gyahahaha! Excellent, Quinn! This is magnificent!"
In today's New World, many top pirates relied on their Devil Fruit powers.
With an arsenal of seastone weapons, the Beasts Pirates could counter these Devil Fruit users easily!
This innovation gave Kaido a massive boost in confidence.
Armed with these weapons, he no longer feared any big pirate in the New World ā not even those who had eaten powerful Mythical Zoan fruits, like Marco's Phoenix fruit or the ancient dinosaurs.
From now on, the Beasts Pirates would no longer just be a threat.
They would be unstoppable!
