"The talents of these two guys are stronger than even Zephyr," said an elder Marine from the side.
The four had been recognized early on as part of the "Marine's Four Stars."
However, even among the gifted, there were differencesāsome shone brighter, while others lagged slightly behind.
"But it doesn't matter. The gap in strength isn't too wide anyway," Zephyr said, clenching his fists before shrugging and smiling.
Zephyr was content enough with his current strength. Although he was still slightly inferior to Garp and Sengoku, he wasn't concerned.
"Hahaha... well done, Garp."
An old, heavily scarred man who had been knocked aside earlier limped over, grinning at Garp.
"So, can we leave the Holy Land, Mariejois?" Sengoku asked eagerly.
They had spent countless years training in this isolated place.
Now, Sengoku was itching to sail out and hunt down the infamous pirates rampaging in the New World!
"Of course."
The reason why the Five Elders had kept Garp and the others training in Mariejois for so long was to hone them into true pillars of Marine strength.
Their goal had been to mold these four until their might reached the highest echelons of the world.
Now, under their exhaustive tutelage, the strength of Garp, Sengoku, Zephyr, and Tsuru had finally reached the level they desired.
The combined combat power of these four could be said to rival the mightiest figures alive!
"I can't wait to throw that bastard Ayr into Impel Down!" Garp said, clenching his fists excitedly.
"No, Garp. Now isn't the time to hunt pirates in the New World," one of the Five Elders interrupted.
"Why not?" Garp asked suspiciously.
After enduring endless years of harsh, monotonous training, the sole motivation fueling him had been the thought of capturing monsters like Ayr.
Now, hearing that they should hold back left him bewildered.
"Recently, we received word from MarinefordāRoger has surrendered himself. We've decided to assign the credit to you. A week from now, the world will witness his public execution."
"After Roger's execution, you Marines will advance into the New World to strike at the pirates."
During the long absence of figures like Garp, Sengoku, Zephyr, and Tsuru from active duty, Marine influence in the New World had waned considerably.
As a result, chaos reigned, and countless nations lived in panic.
But now, with Roger's capture, the World Government intended to stabilize the situation by assigning the glory to Garp and the Marinesāclaiming that they had been executing a secret anti-pirate operation during all these years.
The execution of Roger would signal to the world that the Marines were reasserting dominance over the seas!
"Roger surrendered himself?" Garp was shocked.
After all, secluded in intense training, Garp and the others hadn't received the latest news.
"Yes."
"But why would Rogerāof all peopleāturn himself in?" Sengoku asked, frowning.
Roger was the first man to reach the final island, Laugh Tale.
This feat had earned him the title of "Pirate King."
Logic suggested that this should have been the beginning of the Roger Pirates' full domination of the seas, not the end.
Why would a man like Roger surrender now?
"Because of a terminal illness," explained one of the Five Elders gravely.
"A terminal illness?!"
Garp, Sengoku, Zephyr, and Tsuru were all stunned.
No one had imagined that the King of the Seas himself was secretly afflicted by a disease he could not defeat.
"You are to return to Marineford immediately and prepare for Roger's execution. Once it's over, the campaign to purge pirates like Ayr will begin in earnest. We trust you won't let us down!"
They had full confidence that, with Roger gone and the growing power of the Marines' Four Stars, figures like Ayr could be eliminated.
Especially now, since they suspected that Ayr's mysterious abilities couldn't be fully utilized without specific conditions.
Time was on the Marines' side.
"Understood!" the four Marines answered in unison.

Meanwhile, in the New World, on the shores of a remote islandā
A massive pirate ship, flying a unique golden lion figurehead, was docked.
It was the legendary flagship of the Flying Pirates, commanded by Golden Lion Shiki himself.
A pirate sprinted across the deck and reported breathlessly.
"Admiral Shiki! Big newsāRoger has been captured by the Marines!"
"Roger... was captured?" Golden Lion Shiki froze for a moment.
Rogerāthe man hailed as the Pirate Kingāwas one of the few opponents Shiki genuinely respected.
The very idea that Marineford's forces had captured Roger was almost unthinkable.
"Yes! The news is sweeping across the seasāno doubt about it. Marineford has even announced a public execution in Loguetown, in East Blue, set for one week from now!"
"Admiral Shiki! With Roger's fall, the Flying Pirates can seize the chance to dominate the world!"
"Yes, Admiral! Plus, Ayr has been laying low after his major battles! And with our alliance with the Beasts Pirates, victory will be within our grasp once Roger is gone!"
The ship buzzed with excitement and ambition.
BOOM!
Suddenly, a pistol rang out.
Golden Lion Shiki had drawn his flintlock pistol and fired directly at the pirate who had brought the news.
The shot hit the man in the leg, sending him crashing to the deck, screaming in pain.
"Hisss... Admiral Shiki...?"
The deck fell into stunned silence as everyone froze, staring at Shiki in terror.
Why had he shot his own man?
"You dare suggest that Rogerāthe man who reached the end of the Grand Lineāwas captured by those cowards at Marineford?" Shiki said coldly, a cigar dangling from his mouth.
Ever since the Battle of the Valley of the Gods, Marineford had barely dared to send forces into the New World.
The Marines had entrenched themselves behind safe borders.
Golden Lion Shiki held nothing but contempt for the Marine forcesābelieving them utterly incapable of capturing a man like Roger.
"Admiral Shiki! The information is accurate! Roger was captured by Vice Admiral Garp!" the injured pirate gasped, clutching his bleeding leg.
BOOM!
Another shot rang out.
This time, Golden Lion shot the pirate's other leg, expression filled with icy rage.
"Stop talking nonsense, you bastard!" Shiki snarled.
After blowing out a cloud of smoke, he tossed the pistol aside and started striding toward the gangplank.
"Admiral Shiki, where are you going?!" the other pirates called out anxiously.
"To Marineford!!!"
Leaving those words behind, Shiki leapt from the ship with a stormy expression.
He would never believe Roger had been captured without seeing the truth for himself.
He would storm Marineford if necessary!
The remaining pirates on board stared at each other in horror.
"Is he serious? Admiral Shiki's going to invade Marineford?!"
"The Naval Headquarters has countless elite Vice Admirals and Admirals in reserve! Even Admiral Shiki can't fight them all alone!"
"We have to stop him! If he charges in, he'll be killed!"
"No... Admiral Shiki's already gone. We can't catch up now!"
