Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"It should've been me! Not him!"

I threw my phone across my room with the force of a thousand suns after I finished reading the latest chapter of another novel that turned into horrid nonsense. I just saw the main character turn into a mindless sex obsessed freak as he gained his 5th wife that basically threw herself at him. What a waste man.

It's always the same thing. The MC is given these powers they never take full advantage of, 20 year time-skips where the only buff the MC gets is the ability to take a dump 1.5 times faster than they could before, great premises where the author turns it into a shitty "Gotta Collect Them All!" waifu simulator, I'm just sick of it.

And don't even get me started on how authors have no ideas how to develop upon other characters that aren't the MC. Basically making it a land where everyone is basically 2D NPC's except for the main character.

I think I'll take a break from reading webnovels after this. Maybe come back in a week or two and see if any new good slop comes out. I'll just pass the time by watching videos or something.

I glance over to where I had thrown my phone and see a huge dent in my wall. "Fuck..." If only my day couldn't get worse.

I already live in a trashy studio apartment in New York City, where the rent is so high I wondered if buying a mansion in Beverly Hills would've saved me more money. There was nothing in my unit except the essentials; a mattress, a microwave, and a fridge. It was as much as I could buy without worrying if I would be able to eat for a few days or go into debt. It wasn't much but it's home sweet home for me.

Now to the more serious problem at hand, I have a dent in my wall and a potentially broken phone.

I get up from the mattress on the floor, walking across the creaky wooden floor where my phone is situated on the other side of the room.

I picked it up so carefully you'd think it was an ancient relic of sorts. I flipped of over the screen, peaking at it with one eye open, expecting to see a shattered screen. Instead, when I looked at the screen and I saw there were no cracks. "I almost had a heart attack," I sighed.

But, there's something really weird on my screen. Some type of a system UI panel, like the ones from those Chinese cultivation xianxia or Korean dungeon manhwa.

[Do you wish to leave this world and transmigrate to a new one?]

[Yes / No]

I stared at the screen for a bit. I thought I was just hallucinating so I tried to turn off my phone but it wouldn't shut off. I even set it back down and picked it up again just to make sure.

When I tell you I was so happy I nearly nut in my pants, I almost did.

But now, it was time to lock the fuck in.

I left my apartment, phone in hand, and booked it for the closest place where I could get any sort of protection. I remembered there was a bike store that sold knee pads and the sort so I went straight there.

I bought a full set of gear including a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and gloves then went straight home. I put on the gear then some comfortable gray sweats and a loose fitting white t-shirt. I went to my kitchen in the corner of my apartment. I took my only kitchen knife from one of the drawers and held it in my hand. It's good enough to use to defend myself.

If I'm going to a new world, I'd be damned if I came there empty handed. I look around the apartment to see if I needed anything else. Seeing as I was set, I looked at my phone with the UI still open on its screen.

"Good riddance to this world and my shitty life. Hello whatever waits for me," I said out loud with what felt like the burdens I carried all throughout my life being taken away.

My finger hovered over the Yes button on the screen. I thought about whether or not I really wanted to do this. There's a chance I'd get put in a hellish apocolyptic new world, with me having to take horrendous and grim actions just to survive.

I thought about it for a second before putting those thoughts into the back of my head and deciding to just do it. I pressed YES on the screen and the previous UI disappeared, a new one replacing it.

[Good luck in your new world... You'll need it.]

Wait what? I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to say that. I really was hopping for something along the lines of "What world would you go to?" or "What 3 wishes would you like to make?"

Well, I'm not going to complain about it too much. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, even if it's only one lemon that's very vague and ominous.

The walls of my apartment seeming break apart into a black void. I see them float off into the distance into the abyss.

Now I'm floating in the middle of pitch black. I look down and see myself naked without any of the gear I bought or my knife. Dammit. I came prepared for nothing.

Before I'm able to take in everything, I'm flung to my right with what feels like the might of a freight train. I'm definitely gonna puke.

I'm sent tumbling towards the direction I'm being pulled in. I look towards the direction I'm heading and see a pale blue dot in the distance.

As I'm getting closer, I can see the finer details of the dot. It looked mostly blue with some of it green with hints of it brown and orange. But as I get closer I can only think of one thing this could be.

It's Earth. No... It's most likely an identical planet like Earth.

I'm guessing that's where I'll be going for my new world. I'm so hyped for this. Though I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous and a little scared.

I can already see myself conquering kingdoms or even being a king myself. Kind of like a slime from a specific anime. Or maybe I would even be a mysterious figure that only a select few powerful figures know and fear. But I'm getting ahead of myself now.

The words the screen has left me lingered in my mind. It's still fresh in my mind making me doubt if this world wasn't as it seemed. Worrying about it now would be worthless, I would get to that issue when I land on the planet.

I look at the planet, feeling ready to land. I could feel my heart pumping and that a large smile was creeping on my face. It's blue water, green and brown landmasses, as well as the white clouds swirling in the air above it all welcomed me. It was so close, I could basically feel it calling to me.

That's when I stopped. All of the momentum I had just stopped, leaving me staring at the huge planet.

It was only a few moments before I had been flung to the right again. Not with as much force as the first time I had been launched but still packed a punch. I looked at the planet that I thought I was landing on, slowly get smaller and smaller.

I kept looking at it, feeling a sense of want that I didn't have before. But now, where the hell am I going?

I turned to see a small planet or in this case the moon, getting bigger as I came closer. Instead of the grey color the original moon had, this one had a red hue still having the gray undertone the original moon did. It was devoid of the craters that my moon had and looked like a blank red ball.

Now I understand why the UI had wished me good luck. I really hoped that it blessed me with the luck of the gods.

I kept getting closer to the moon yet, I wasn't slowing down at all. I could already tell it wasn't going to be a soft landing with me going this fast.

I curled up into a ball and closed my eyes hoping for the best. Maybe it wouldn't be too painful.

I felt the planet's gravity start to pull me in combined with the force I had been launched with beforehand.

I felt a brief moment of discomfort on my side before I passed out.
