The slave trader laughed from the side as she spoke to them, but Morena ignored him and finished paying the price. The seven war slaves were not cheap, but they were cheaper than hired mercenaries and easier to control.

The trader handed her the ownership papers with a wide smile.

"Pleasure doing business, fine lady."

"Give me the chains as well."

"Of course, of course."

He waved for one of his men to bring them over.

Morena looked over the seven again and rolled her eyes. They were injured and frail from not getting proper nutrition; so she would have to feed them and train them well before she could use them.

She didn't bother speaking to them any further, or even asking their names; instead, she led them back toward the inn where Darron's caravan was staying. Elaine stayed exactly where she told her to, and noticed her return quickly.

The moment she noticed the seven new slaves, her eyes narrowed slightly, but Morena paid her little mind; Darron noticed too.
