I ran after the dragon.

That sounds cooler than it actually felt. Because chasing a dragon mid-apocalypse, with flaming buildings, collapsing roads, and shadow beasts clawing their way out of every corner, was definitely not the vibe I was aiming for. But it was my only chance. The portal loomed high in the sky, swirling and shrieking and getting hungrier by the second. I needed altitude, and fast.

The dragon, naturally, didn't feel like landing. Because why would it make this easy for me?

I spotted Ravi near the ruins of an overturned fruit stall, standing atop a crumbling fountain and firing arrows like a divine machine gun. Cultists and beasts alike dropped around her like dominoes. Her warpaint was smeared with ash and blood, and her eyes had the cold fire of someone who'd accepted that she might die and decided she'd kill everything in her way first.
