Chapter 4
"Cassie? Why did you bring Rapunzel here? Why did you bring ME here?!" Varian demanded in her ear, he was NOT happy with Cassandra right now. "I wanted to see what would happen if she had contact with them." She muttered to him. "We're risking her life Cassie!" He softly argued. Rapunzel walked up to the Black rocks and had her hand above one of them. Varian needed to stop her, she could get hurt if she touched them.. "Rapunzel don't! It isn't safe!" He shouted. But as he came to her side, the two siblings put one of their hands on the same rock in perfect sync. They both looked down and saw the spot they touched was glowing now, Varian's side was sapphire and Rapunzel's was gold, before they could let go or even process it, a magic burst blasted them away from the rocks. Cass ran to Rapunzel's side as fast as she could. "Are you okay Princess?" She asked. Rapunzel groaned and nodded, then gasped when she saw that one of her strands of brown hair had turned gold like it was before. "Oh no.." Varian thought. But that was when he saw his OWN hair, his streak of blue was glowing now. "Um.. C-Cassie??" He called out. She then saw Varian, looking very weak and tired. Before Cass could react though, Varian felt an irregular pain in his chest and black rocks shot up from the ground at a rapid rate, getting closer to the three with each one. "You two need to run, NOW! Go!" Cassandra declared to Rapunzel and Varian. They quickly did what they were told while Cass tried to get rid of them. Varian felt extremely guilty for this entire disaster, but he couldn't focus on that, he just stumbled as he ran, the pain in his heart unbearable. The only light now was.. Rapunzel? His vision became clearer and he realized that his sister's hair was sparkling yellow and growing longer. That next shock in him pushed him further and both him and Princess Rapunzel jumped at the same time, but Rapunzel stuck the landing, Varian did not and he collapsed. Cass emerged from the forest after that and saw the waterfall of hair in front of her. "What in the?!" She gasped. Rapunzel picked up the hair and looked back at Cassandra, then Varian caught her attention. "Vari!" Cass cried out, running to his side, seeing that the side of his head was bleeding a little. Rapunzel put her hand on Cass's shoulder, looking down at her brother. He opened his eyes and saw his strand of blue was still glowing. "Ah! Get it off! Get it off!!" He exclaimed, his panic brought the black rocks closer, and they had to run again now. "Go! Go! Go!" Cass told them. Cass had Varian on her back as she ran, she could feel him shudder. Rapunzel followed them as they made their way to the bridge. But then, one of the rocks stuck her hair in place. Cassandra heard Rapunzel exclaim in pain, as she tugged her hair away from the rock, tightening it. This caused pain in Varian too. Cass helped pull Rapunzel away and they ran as the black rocks broke through the bridge under their feet. That's when Cassandra realized, that the rocks were now only coming up behind VARIAN, he seemed to be drawn to them before, but now it hurt him every time they came. He was trembling more now, he was scared, that was why they wouldn't go away, they reflect on his emotions. But right now, they just needed to focus on crossing the bridge. They finally made it after one last jump. The bridge broke after that. "I told you that the bridge was unstable.." Varian weakly stammered before he fell asleep. It had been a long night, but this was just the start of something new. "Well princess," Cass told her, "I guess you're getting an adventure after all." TO BE CONTINUED..
