Chapter 5 - I WAS JUST CHILLING, AND BOOM! I'M A MILLIONAIRE!

E.Y.E.S: FRACTURED DESTINY

Arc 1: Sync of Destiny

At the heart of Zyphoria stood a building unlike any other in the surrounding skyline.

It wasn't just another skyscraper. It was the center of technological civilization, the beating heart of innovation that had reshaped the world.

Miracle of Technology.

From the outside, the building looked like a monolith straight out of the future. Its glass structure, crafted from nano-reflective materials, glowed softly, reflecting the endless sea of neon lights that illuminated the sleepless city.

Dozens of security drones hovered around the structure, their optical sensors capable of detecting even the slightest movement. At its peak, a series of transmission antennas connected countless artificial intelligence networks, managing an information flow more complex than the human brain could ever hope to process.

Inside, the world's brightest scientists worked around the clock.

Holographic screens filled every corner of the building, displaying real-time data, blueprints for cutting-edge innovations, and quantum mappings of ongoing experiments.

The entire facility was alive.

Machines hummed softly. Electrical currents vibrated beneath the floor. Blue-green light flickered across control panels, casting an eerie glow over the researchers at work.

At the center of the main research chamber, surrounded by a circular array of monitors and control panels, stood Dr. Fushida—a world-renowned scientist whose intellect was said to be generations ahead of his time.

His neatly combed silver hair shimmered beneath the neon lights, but his eyes remained fixed on a single object.

A red gemstone suspended inside a glass cylinder.

This was no ordinary stone.

A deep red light pulsed within it, almost as if it possessed a heartbeat of its own. Its energy was so powerful that the electromagnetic field surrounding it seemed to tremble.

Dr. Fushida studied the rapidly changing figures on his monitor, carefully measuring the amount of energy radiating from the gemstone.

The other scientists watched in absolute concentration.

They knew they weren't dealing with some ordinary artifact.

This was a source of energy that defied human comprehension.

"Synchronization is still unstable... but the intensity keeps increasing," Dr. Fushida muttered, his fingers dancing across the touchscreen in front of him.

Around the chamber, sophisticated measuring instruments recorded every fluctuation in the gemstone's output.

Ionic sensors vibrated. Energy spectrum panels flickered erratically, as if the gemstone were attempting to communicate with something beyond the limits of human understanding.

But far above them—beyond the reach of their sensors and watchful eyes—a threat was already moving into position.

On the rooftop of a skyscraper overlooking Miracle of Technology, a gloved hand tapped a series of tiny buttons on a portable electronic panel.

The hand belonged to someone wearing a mechanical glove reinforced with Kevlar.

The faint red glow of the device illuminated the face of a figure hidden behind a carbon-fiber tactical helmet.

Two other figures stood ready behind him.

Their eyes were alert, their hands gripping electromagnetic weapons designed to neutralize security systems without leaving a trace.

"We're in," the team leader's raspy voice crackled through their encrypted communication channel. "The cloaked drones are already inside the ventilation system."

Deep within Miracle of Technology's ventilation network, several tiny drones—no bigger than mechanical spiders—moved in absolute silence.

Their bodies were coated in adaptive reflective material that adjusted to the colors of their surroundings, making them nearly invisible to security sensors.

They crawled through narrow gaps, slipped past motion detectors, and clung to walls like invisible shadows.

Each drone carried a frequency-scanning device, recording the electromagnetic wave patterns emitted by the red gemstone inside the research chamber.

On the team leader's helmet display, the building's internal map gradually began to unfold.

"Signal's stable. We're almost there."

Back in the research chamber, Dr. Fushida suddenly felt something was wrong.

He paused his work and glanced around.

Something was different.

Something...

That shouldn't have been in the room.

Under the watchful eye of the facility's supposedly impenetrable security system, the mechanical spiders continued toward a concealed room buried deep within the research complex.

There was no label on the door.

Only a biometric scanner and a layer of red laser beams that made it inaccessible to unauthorized personnel.

But the drones didn't stop.

One of the mechanical spiders leaped onto the scanner and activated a high-frequency signal.

Within seconds, the security system suffered a brief disruption—just long enough for the door to slide open a few inches.

Enough room to get inside.

Within the chamber stood a black box surrounded by a laser containment field.

Engraved on its side, almost faded by the passage of time, was a single word:

E.Y.E.S

An old project.

Unstable technology.

An artifact locked away in time.

The tiny mechanical legs crept closer.

Some of the drones began hacking the laser field while the others prepared their lifting mechanisms.

In a matter of moments, they managed to lift the box and began retreating.

Unfortunately, the universe had never been particularly generous to thieves.

BEEP!

A piercing alarm echoed through the chamber.

The security system activated.

Motion sensors detected the anomaly, and within a fraction of a second—

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The spider drones exploded one after another.

Blue lasers swept across the room, obliterating them with flawless precision.

The chamber doors burst open.

Several armed guards rushed inside, their weapons still smoking from the shots they'd just fired.

One of them—a man wearing a captain's insignia on his chest—furrowed his brow.

His gaze settled on the smoking remains of the drones.

"Strange," he muttered. "They shouldn't have been able to penetrate a system this secure..."

He crouched down and examined the scorched metal fragments.

Then his eyes narrowed.

"No way..."

His fingers brushed against a small opening in the ventilation shaft.

An opening that looked...

As if someone had deliberately left it there.

Yet while everyone was focused on the wreckage, no one noticed one crucial detail.

THE E.Y.E.S BOX WAS GONE.

Meanwhile, on the rooftop of the opposing skyscraper, the masked figure grinned triumphantly.

A small drone approached from the distance, carrying something more valuable than the combined assets of every technology company on Earth.

E.Y.E.S.

"Finally..." he hissed, his eyes gleaming with victory.

He stretched out his hand, ready to receive the mysterious box that had existed only as a legend for so long.

But just as the drone approached—

THE BOX WAS GONE!!!

In its place sat a single piece of paper.

Not E.Y.E.S.

Not even a damn decoy.

Just a piece of paper with enormous letters printed across it:

"A SHARK GOT BEAT UP WITH A WOODEN PLANK. YOU GOT TROLLED, YOU FUCKING IDIOT."

...

...

...

"HUH?!?!"

His heart practically launched itself into his skull.

"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS THIS?!"

He frantically flipped the paper back and forth, hoping there might be something written on the other side.

Nothing.

Absolutely fucking nothing.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE?!"

HE'D JUST BEEN HIT WITH THE SUPER DELUXE PRANK PACKAGE.

He'd been preparing to become the king of technological crime.

Instead, he'd become the victim of the century's most disrespectful trolling.

"YOU MOTHERFUUUUCKER!!!"

CRAAASH!!!

Suddenly, someone grabbed him violently by the collar.

His female teammate—armed with two circular throwing blades—was absolutely LIVID.

"YOU FUCKING IDIOT! HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?!"

She shook him like a baby bottle.

"WHERE'S E.Y.E.S?! WHERE'S THE FUCKING BOX?!"

The masked man stared at the paper again.

Still the same words.

YOU GOT TROLLED, YOU FUCKING IDIOT.

He swallowed hard.

"H-hey... c-calm down. We can... w-we can still..."

KABOOOM!!!

The woman's circular blade shot past him and buried itself in a pillar right beside his head.

Her breathing was ragged.

Her eyes were practically on fire.

"WE CAN WHAT?! HUH?! WE CAN WHAT?! WHAT THE HELL CAN WE DO?! BUILD A FUCKING VILLAGE ON ANOTHER PLANET?!"

The masked man immediately lowered his head.

"S-SORRY!"

BUT THAT WASN'T THE END OF IT.

Their third teammate—a massive, heavily built man—suddenly joined in.

"WHOOOOOOOOOOY!!!"

His voice was so ridiculously bass-boosted that the neighboring building practically shook.

Fifty floors below, people on the street turned their heads toward the rooftop.

"Huh?!"

Office workers enjoying their lunch break looked up at the sky.

"SHIT!" the woman snapped, clutching her head.

She immediately grabbed the big guy by the mouth.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU ABSOLUTE UNIT!!!"

The big guy continued gasping for air, but finally shut up after receiving a little show of affection.

By which we mean she drove her knee straight into his chin.

The masked man was now experiencing a full-blown national emergency.

"W-what do we do?! T-THE BOSS IS GONNA DEEP-FRY ME IN A GIANT FUCKING WOK IF WE FAIL!!!"

The woman still had a death grip on his collar.

Her eyes blazed.

Her teeth ground together.

Her breathing sounded like a Dragon Ball character charging up a final attack.

"...We've been played."

"...We've been played, YOU MORON."

She shook him even more violently.

"HOW THE HELL DID YOU FALL FOR A PRANK LIKE THAT?!"

"I-I DON'T KNOW! I THOUGHT... I THOUGHT..."

The woman looked at the paper again.

YOU GOT TROLLED, YOU FUCKING IDIOT.

Her eyes went distant.

"We've been made fools of..."

The wind howled across the rooftop.

They stood in silence.

And then—

SHE BEAT THE ABSOLUTE SHIT OUT OF THE MASKED MAN.

"STOP STANDING THERE LIKE A USELESS PIECE OF FURNITURE! FIND THAT FUCKING BOX!!!"

Elsewhere...

Inside Miracle of Technology, a suffocating silence had fallen over the entire facility.

Scientists, technicians, and security guards stood there with their mouths hanging open.

Some were still holding tablets or interacting with holographic displays, frozen like NPCs that had just encountered a game-breaking bug.

The box.

The E.Y.E.S box.

MISSING.

GONE.

VANISHED.

One guard blinked repeatedly and slapped his own cheek.

"WAIT... WAIT A SECOND..."

"AM I DREAMING OR WHAT?!"

A scientist lunged toward a monitor in a panic.

"CHECK THE CCTV! CHECK THE SENSORS! CHECK FUCKING EVERYTHING!!!"

Everyone sprang into action, moving faster than employees during a flash sale.

"WHAT'S THE LAST RECORDED DATA?! WHO CHANGED THE SYSTEM?!"

"WHY DIDN'T THE MOTION SENSORS TRIGGER AN ALARM?!"

"WHY DOES OUR CCTV FOOTAGE LOOK LIKE A CORRUPTED FILE?! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?! DID SOMEONE TURN ON BEAUTY MODE?!"

Amid the chaos, the security captain—who was supposed to be the very definition of composure—was PANICKING TOO.

SWEAT RAN DOWN HIS FACE.

HIS MOUTH OPENED AND CLOSED LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER.

"THE... THE BOX! WHERE THE HELL DID IT GO?! HOW CAN IT JUST DISAPPEAR?!" he shouted.

Meanwhile, one scientist was clutching his head and gasping for breath.

"FUCK! I'VE SPENT DECADES OF MY LIFE WORKING ON THIS PROJECT!!!"

Another frantically tapped through holographic keyboards, staring at a mess of data that looked like the exam results of a kid who hadn't studied a single damn thing.

"WAIT, WAIT, WAIT! THE E.Y.E.S DATA IS GONE TOO?! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!"

Scientist: "..."

Technician: "..."

Then someone asked the single DUMBEST QUESTION IN HUMAN HISTORY.

"HEY, WHAT IF THE BOX JUST FELL UNDER THE TABLE?!"

Silence.

Everyone turned to look at him.

"..."

A scientist slowly stepped forward.

He stared at the man.

Deeply.

With the kind of hatred usually reserved for humanity's greatest enemies.

Then, with extraordinary tenderness...

HE SMACKED THE GUY UPSIDE THE HEAD.

"THIS IS BILLIONS-WORTH OF TECHNOLOGY, NOT YOUR PHONE THAT YOU LOST IN BED!!!"

Meanwhile, the security captain was still gasping for air, caught in the middle of the collective meltdown.

He wiped his forehead and stared at the ceiling.

MEANWHILE...

ON THE SCHOOL ROOFTOP...

KRISHNA.

HE WAS LIVING HIS BEST LIFE.

He glanced up.

Blue sky.

Thin clouds drifting lazily overhead.

A gentle breeze.

He raised his hand, tracing the distant clouds with his fingers.

"Haaaah... this is so peaceful."

And because he was so damn comfortable, he lay down.

Hands behind his head.

Legs stretched out.

A faint smile on his lips.

"No one's bothering me..."

"No Evana..."

"No student council..."

"No guidance counselor..."

"Man, this is fucking paradise."

His eyes slowly closed.

The world felt peaceful.

...

...

BUT AT THAT VERY MOMENT... HIGH ABOVE THE CITY OF ZYPHORIA...

A tiny spider-shaped drone was hurtling through the sky at incredible speed.

This was the very drone that had just stolen the E.Y.E.S box.

And now...

The drone was suddenly experiencing a SYSTEM ERROR.

"Bzzzzzt—system unstable—zzzt—WARNING! WARNING! SYSTEM IS EXPERIE—"

The drone hiccupped.

Yes.

IT FUCKING HICCUPPED.

Bzzzzzt!

HIC!

Bzzzzzt!

HIC AGAIN!

"ZZZTT! DAMMIT! WHY THE HELL AM I HICCUPPING AT A CRITICAL MOMENT LIKE THIS?!"

Its motors sputtered.

Its tiny wings began wobbling.

Its camera spun in every direction like someone who'd just woken up after a twelve-hour nap.

And then things got even worse.

THE DRONE SLAMMED STRAIGHT INTO A BALI MYNA.

CRASH!!!

The bird shrieked in panic.

"SQUAAAAAAWK!!!"

BAM!

The bird went tumbling.

The drone was knocked completely off course.

It fell.

Faster.

And faster.

And then—

THUD!!!

IT LANDED DIRECTLY ON KRISHNA'S HEAD.

"OW, YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!"

Krishna winced, immediately clutching his head.

SOMETHING HAD JUST FALLEN OUT OF THE SKY...

AND SMACKED HIM RIGHT ON THE DAMN SKULL!

His eyes snapped open.

His head was still throbbing.

His heart had nearly jumped out of his chest.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!"

He grabbed the object.

His fingers slowly closed around it.

He took a closer look.

And the moment he realized what he was holding—

HIS JAW FUCKING DROPPED.

His mouth hung slightly open.

His eyebrows shot up.

His breathing slowed...

Because in his hand...

Was something that made ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.

Krishna's eyes flew wide open.

One hand still clutched his throbbing head.

He scrambled upright, only half-conscious.

His eyes darted around, searching for whoever had just committed an act of airborne assault against him.

...

AND RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM...

WAS A BALI MYNA.

THE BIRD WAS ALSO HOLDING ITS OWN HEAD.

ITS EYES WERE SPINNING.

ITS BODY SWAYED FROM SIDE TO SIDE.

IT LOOKED AT KRISHNA.

KRISHNA LOOKED AT IT.

THEY STARED AT EACH OTHER.

"..."

"..."

ONE SECOND.

TWO SECONDS.

THEN THE BIRD SCREAMED.

"SQUUUUAAAAAAWK!!!"

KRISHNA SCREAMED TOO.

"HOLY SHIT!!!"

The bird stumbled past Krishna, took off in a crooked flight, and immediately crashed into a corner of the rooftop.

Meanwhile...

Krishna finally noticed something.

A small black box lay beside him.

He stared at it.

His eyes narrowed.

The box.

He picked it up and turned it around in his hands.

Its design was sleek and sophisticated, black and elegant.

Like something straight out of the distant future.

Krishna scratched his head.

"Goddamn. Who the hell threw a pencil case at my head?"

He casually stuffed the box into his bag.

Then lay back down.

Krishna sighed.

And went right back to sleep.

Meanwhile, somewhere across the city...

Scientists, secret agents, and criminal organizations were still tearing the world apart searching for a box that was now sitting inside the backpack of a high school kid whose main hobby was sleeping on rooftops.

E.Y.E.S had finally found its way into the world.

And its new owner couldn't give a single damn.

We're hanging, but it's not like we're in a relationship or anything. 😜
