Chapter 197 – My Long-Lost Younger Sister

[MC POV]

After an uncomfortable conversation with my old classmate, Jisoo, I returned to my seat, feeling unsettled.

'I never thought I'd run into her here…'

She had always been a good student back in school, but I never imagined she'd end up working at the Choi Han Group headquarters.

For six years, she constantly belittled and ignored me.

If she had been a guy, I probably would have hit her. But at the time, I was into sports and worried I wouldn't be able to control my strength. Things could have gone too far, so I just let her words pass—one ear in, the other out.

Now, seeing her again at work only brings back those memories. And naturally, it doesn't sit well with me.

'And to think she's my senior in the same department…'

She probably doesn't want her past coming to light either, so I doubt she'll try to provoke me. Still, it's uncomfortable having to work alongside someone I disliked for years.

'Let's just keep it professional and ignore her.'

There was no point in stirring up anything. It's best if we stick to work and avoid unnecessary interactions.

I was not interested in bringing up the past or using it against her. As long as we stay out of each other's way, it should be fine.

"O-oh, it's been a while… O-Oppa."

"Ah, yeah! It has been a while, Sojin."

Then, apart from Jisoo, I saw another familiar face—one that brought a genuine smile to my face.

"Hehe… You, you remembered me."

"Of course! I cried so much the day you were adopted."

"I—I missed you too, Oppa…"

Jin Sojin—my junior by a year, with long hair that nearly covered her eyes—was now a member of my team.

She was like a real younger sister to me, someone I spent years with at the orphanage.

'She hasn't changed much.'

Back then, she was shy and introverted, someone who didn't mix well with others. That part of her still seemed the same. She couldn't meet my eyes properly, and her face had turned bright red.

"Are your parents treating you well?"

"Y-yes… They think of me as their real daughter and raised me with love…"

She may have started life in an orphanage, but she was lucky enough to be adopted young and brought up in a warm home—something many kids can only hope for.

'That's a relief…'

Growing up in an orphanage and becoming an adult without support is incredibly tough. I'm glad she didn't have to face that.

I struggled with part-time jobs and deliveries to make ends meet before I was even an adult. Knowing she had a better path eases my heart a little.

"H-how have you been, Oppa?"

"Yeah, well… I've been living in a good place."

"That's good… Hehe."

There were tough times. But after meeting Yeonji, my life has been filled with happiness.

'Well, there's also a hellish presence here…'

I glanced over at Jisoo, and she quickly looked away, flinching under my gaze.

She seemed nervous, clearly unsettled by my presence.

"Do you have plans for lunch today?"

"Yes… I do, but… shall we eat together for the first time in a while?"

"Y-yes!"

Her eyes looked like they might tear up at any second, and just hearing the invitation seemed to overwhelm her. I immediately decided to change my lunch plans.

'I should let Yeonhee know.'

Usually, I had lunch with Yeonhee or the team leader, so I rarely ate with anyone else. But starting today, I figured it'd be good to eat with Sojin now and then.

'Come to think of it, everyone here seems to prefer eating alone or in pairs.'

Yeonhee used to eat alone, but now she often eats with me. The team leader also used to eat by herself while working, but lately, she seems to enjoy eating with me instead.

Sojin, with her quiet and timid nature, avoids big groups and usually eats alone as well.

It might be awkward to eat all together, so for now, we'll stick to eating separately. Today, though, I decided to go out for lunch with Sojin.

...….

[POV Change]

'To meet Oppa again… Is this fate? Are we meant to be together?!'

After being adopted, Sojin had lost all contact with him. She never imagined she'd reunite with him like this—by pure chance, at work. Her heart pounded uncontrollably.

Meeting her first love from childhood in such an unexpected way, it was hard not to believe it was fate.

Back then, her adoptive parents didn't want her associating with anyone from the orphanage. She had no choice but to let go of Oppa and move on. Over time, she thought about him less often—but never truly forgot.

Because of her timid personality, she had always struggled to get along with the other kids. She spent most of her days alone. But Joohyun Oppa was the one who approached her first and offered his hand.

Whenever she was by herself, he would come and play with her. Thanks to him, her shyness slowly began to improve. Even after being adopted, she would think of him whenever she tried to make new friends at school.

Later, when she had grown up, she tried to get information about him through the orphanage. But by then, he had already left, and they had lost all contact. She assumed they would never meet again.

Even when her friends encouraged her to date, she couldn't bring herself to be with anyone else. Her feelings for him never faded. She lived quietly and alone—until this fateful moment brought him back into her life.

"Then, let's go eat something you like for lunch."

"Y-yes… There's a place I go to often nearby."

Since she liked Japanese food, she decided to take him to a nearby restaurant with partitions, perfect for quiet, solitary meals.

"It's really nice seeing you again, Sojin. I never imagined we'd run into each other like this."

"Yeah… I didn't expect it either, Oppa. You don't hate it… right?"

"Of course not. I'm really happy."

She had asked cautiously, but when she saw his warm smile and heard those words, her heart began racing again.

'Oppa♥ You've gotten so fit… If I end up in those arms, I won't be able to escape… Hehehe♥'

"What's wrong?"

"Huh? N-nothing!!"

She almost got carried away in her thoughts but snapped out of it and glanced back at him.

'You've become my ideal type♥'

Sojin's ideal man had always been someone tall, strong, and broad-shouldered.

Looks didn't matter to her as much as the body. She herself was also quite well-developed in certain areas, which made her a little self-conscious about her weight.

That's why her ideal type had always been a man strong enough to lift her with ease. She used to fantasize about Oppa being that kind of person, but she never thought he would actually grow up to match that image perfectly.

'Isn't this really fate!?'

For someone who had always dreamed of a destined encounter, it felt like her destined partner had finally appeared.

"You were cute when you were little… but now you are beautiful."

"T-t-thank you… O-Oppa, you've become so manly."

Sojin's face turned bright red at the unexpected compliment. Her heart raced so fast she could barely think straight.

'B-beautiful!? Is this a confession!?'

To Joohyun, it was just an honest compliment. He was surprised by how much she had grown and how beautiful she had become. But Sojin was already imagining their future together—down to their great-grandchildren's names.

"Hehe… I-I guess I've become a little more feminine… maybe."

Squeeze…

"Y-yes… you have…"

As if to prove her point, she subtly cupped her large chest and pressed her arms around it to emphasize the change.

'I'm so embarrassed… But Oppa's staring♥♥'

Her breasts had started developing early and never seemed to stop. They had become so large that finding the right bra was a constant struggle, and she often felt physically uncomfortable.

She had even thought about getting breast reduction surgery, but it was too expensive. Worse, the doctor said there was a limit to how much they could be reduced because of their size.

'I'm also too scared to go through surgery…'

She had always considered her breasts a burden. But now, for the first time, she was grateful to have them—especially since they caught Oppa's attention.

Still, like a gentleman, Joohyun didn't stare for too long. After a quick glance, he politely looked away.

"Your food is here."

"Let's talk more while we eat."

"Y-yes… I'm really hungry too."

Sojin, who usually ate small portions to avoid gaining weight—especially in her chest and hips—felt unusually hungry today, likely due to the nerves and excitement building up since she'd seen Joohyun again.

She typically watched her portions carefully, knowing her body tended to store weight in certain areas, but today was different.

'Eating with Oppa again after so long… Hehe♥'

Back in the orphanage, the two often sat together at mealtimes, just the two of them, and she remembered those moments fondly. Sharing a meal with him again brought back that same warm happiness, and she couldn't help but smile.

"By the way, Sojin, do you have a boyfriend or anything?"

"B-boyfriend?! No! Absolutely not! I've never had one!!"

"O-okay…"

Flustered by the question, Sojin blurted out her answer louder than she intended, emphasizing that she had never even dated anyone before.

'I-is Oppa asking because he's interested!? Is this… a proposal?! Hehehe♥'

Already lost in dreams of becoming his girlfriend and even fantasizing about their future family, Sojin gathered her courage and asked with a trembling voice:

"O-Oppa, you… Don't have a girlfriend, do you?"

She was sure he didn't. She had already pictured herself as his girlfriend—no, his fiancée.

"I do… I'm even engaged."

"…Huh?"

Clatter…

Sojin's chopsticks slipped from her hands and hit the table.

Her mind went blank.

For the rest of the day, she sat at her desk in a daze, unable to concentrate on anything.
