Chapter 324 - chapter 122

Hou pushed off the figure behind him and dashed backwards, feeling a light sense of Fear. With it, came it's power.

It manifested within himself–

***

Hamar, too, fought against two alone. Though now he did not have a city to protect, they were in a mindscape and he was free to attack without care.

But! He couldn't reveal that, not yet. The longer he could make them think everything was normal, the more advantage he would have.

'But how do I use the power? It's emotions but how? And what do they do?'

He carefully held his hand out in front of himself Nd tried to use Causality, though when he "felt" it flow out, nothing happened.

'So Causality can't be used...' Hamar glanced at the figures he was to fight, they stared back with hungry eyes.

'I guess there's only one way to figure it out,' Hamar floated in the air, though it worked as if he was using aura, he knew he wasn't. It was more like "floating" was a setting of this world.

He walked forward, towards the enemies and pulled at his sword. Unlike Hou, Hamar carried a physical sword with him and therefore it was carried into the mindscape.

Pointing it towards one of the two figures, he stepped forward. One emotion above all others carried him forward, curiosity. It wasn't his deepest feeling but it was brought to the forefront by the situation.

Curiosity welled and bubbled to the surface. The two figures steadied their stances, ready to defend when–

Fwoop!

He vanished from their sights, they tried to use their Causality to cause them to see where he went but that was when they realised it couldn't be used.

The one who was specifically targeted by Hamar turned around, it was only logical to move to some behind back!

Too slow, Hamar thought as he plunged his sword deep into their shoulder. He was aiming for the neck but from twisting around, he missed the target.

He kicked off their body and shot backwards, 'So that's...something.' a smile grew upon his face and Hamar felt a sense of accomplishment.

'Would it be different for each emotion?' he theorised, and while moving backwards thought of different scenarios.

The sunlight shining down, children's laughter, a nice breeze, the snickering of the common people...happy memories came through his mind.

At the same time, the two figures dashed towards him. The one who was stabbed in their left shoulder focused on Hamar's right side, the other figure kept on the other's left to make up for the injury.

Their 'faces', if you could call them that, stayed completely blank as if they were machines. Jab, hook, forearm block, slash across the surface, grapple! The non-injured figure grappled into Hamar's open hand and pulled him down.

They started to fall and Hamar felt the happy emotions he was filling himself with bubble to the surface, he maintained that mental image; sacrificing his advantage.

A vague feeling entered his body and Hamar held out his hand, he pointed it towards the already-injured figure, 'It's better to take one down, I'm at a number disadvantage!'

He unleashed the Happy power, a sunlight pierced the clouds and shined upon the injured figure. The golden light scattered in the blurry figure's 'skin'.

The stab wound, visible through a reddish hue on the blur, knitted itself shut and once again the skin returned to the blurry black form.

Hamar chuckled to himself, "Maybe I shouldn't have experimented", he was still happy despite the healing of his enemy.

While this was happening, he was still falling, being pulled down through the air by the grappling figure on his arm.

He twisted his body and shoved his sword i to the grappling figure, or at least he tried. As it scratched the surface, the now-healed figure dived down and pulled upwards son the pommel of the sword.

Frustration.

Hamar's breathing quickened unnaturally and hot steam plumed from his nose onto the grappling figure then rising up into Hamar's face and the other figure holding his sword up.

Curiosity now, emotions fluctuated quickly. One moment he felt Happy, Angry another, he was at his emotions' whim not the other way around.

The curiosity peaked, he knew what it would do...or he guessed. He had previously teleported behind the figure he was targeting with his sword, it should be the ability to teleport behind one opponent.

The emotions bubbled over and he focused his attention on the figure holding his sword away. If it worked though, he though, would it teleport just himself or the enemy grappled into his arm?

That thought peaked more curiosity, he teleported over behind the figure. The grappled figure did not come with him, neither did the sword he was contesting with.

He was now behind an enemy, who had his own sword, without a plan. Before they had time to think, he sunk his teeth into their neck.

***

Hou vanished, from his perspective the world went dark. He saw two blobs of light in the darkness, "The figures?" He thought.

But soon after, he came back. The Fear he once had, had vanished and been replaced with Curiosity. The Fear's ability had vanished, he came back with a punch being launched his way by the other figure (the one who had not launched their bile spit)

Hou's Curiosity, before he had time to utilise it, turned to Surprise. A pink miasma-like bubble popped around himself and pushed the punch back.

The figure felt Anger, a small amount, perhaps even Frustration. Their fingers felt itchy, they curled three fingers leaving the pointer finger and thumb extended.

While they did, the other figure continued with disgust. Spit seeped into heir mount, turning into a corrosive bile which they spat towards Hou after his pink bubble pushed everything away from himself.

Hou dodged backwards, "Disgust still? How can they stay so consistent? I couldn't keep Fear and Curiosity long enough to even use them?!"
