Chapter 11 - Calm days, part 2

Math class, the most hated or most loved class by some students, as well as any other normal class. For some, math was a hell with numbers and for others, a chance to shine and reach the podium as one of the best in some subject.

For Adrian? Math was the simplest and most boring thing in the world, just like any other class. He had already learned everything he was "teaching" him now, so it was as if he was being forced to watch a movie he had already seen a million times.

He was already the best in the class in all subjects simply because he had already learned them in his life, so there was no real reason for him to be there. But as he couldn't keep telling everyone that he had reincarnated, he was forced to quietly accept his new reality.

Most of the time, Adrian didn't even pay attention in class and didn't even bother to pretend to care. He often looked at the window enjoying the birds flying high or simply fell asleep in the middle of class, to the chagrin of many teachers.

For them, Adrian was a good student and had a great future ahead of him, but he was lazy and easily distracted, which were not very pleasant characteristics. Not that Adrian cared much about what they thought.

Math class was usually one of the calmest and easiest to follow, because the teacher, Samantha Park, was strict and did not tolerate any kind of joke. She was the kind of teacher who made students afraid of even breathing loudly.

At 35 years old, Samantha had short black hair, blue eyes and very detailed features, the kind of woman that teachers (especially Mr. Fisher, who was married) wanted to be able to have a date.

And some of his colleagues shared a similar opinion. He had even accidentally heard some older students talking about how beautiful she was in the hallways.

But that was none of his business. Now Preston's thoughts?

' He looks so beautiful when distracted... '

That was his business.

After that incident where he accidentally saw some strange thoughts of Preston, he focused all his telepathy around him to make sure he hadn't heard wrong. And for his bad luck, he heard much more equally strange things.

It seemed that every minute that passed, 10 other thoughts about Adrian de Preston emerged. And as I said before, they weren't very nice things.

' He seems to be focused on class today... strange. Is the teacher teaching something of his interest? '

' No, I'm focused on listening to your suspicious thoughts ' Adrian wanted to be able to say that to Preston's face, but decided to refrain from revealing his powers.

Getting deeper and deeper into Preston's head, Adrian saw a lot of details about himself that not even he knew. Preston even vividly remembers the color and brand of the shoes he only wore once that year.

It was sick. And in a way fun, because he finally understood well how that little pest's mind worked.

Preston liked Adrian, a kind of admiration that was almost an obsession. Whether for his appearance or his supposed genius, Preston admired him from the first time he saw him. But because of his social weaknesses, he didn't know how to get close to him, so using an extremely childish logic, he came to the conclusion that he would get closer to Adrian if he started to annoy him often, because that would make the 2 closer.

And you can say that he was kind of right, because the 2 were somehow very close. Both knew the other's likes and dislikes, were interested in similar activities and always tied in almost everything they tried to do that involved the other. A little more than rivals and a little less than friends, in a very summarized way.

The desire to laugh was great, not because he thought it was funny, but because it was simply so absurd that he only realized it when he used his powers. A small smile formed on his lips and a sound similar to a laugh escaped.

Maybe Preston wasn't as boring as he pretended to be in recent years.

' What a beautiful smile his... '

Or maybe not.

' Man, you literally sit at the back of the room, in a very dark corner, and the seat is literally the opposite extreme of that. How the hell are you seeing me so clearly? Adrian wondered mentally.

" Mr. Luciano " Teacher Samantha's voice brought Adrian back to reality " Since my class is not of your interest, please tell me the answer to the operation on the board "

Small laughs formed while Adrian let out a sigh and looked at the bill on the board.

123 x 236 - 4 + 8 ➗3

"The answer is 29,027. Rounded number because I didn't want to put commas " Adrian replied after thinking for a while.

"It's... correct" The teacher said as impressed as the rest and just turned to continue the class as if nothing had happened.

Another skill Adrian had gained was a hyperactive mind. He thought of speeds that should not be possible for normal humans and reacted at the same speed as he thought. Obviously, a simple operation like that was not a problem for him.

' He's so smart... '

And obviously, Preston couldn't control himself and let out another mental compliment to him. It was already a standard at this point.

Lunch time, one of the best times for students. A time to stop looking at the notebooks and rest your mind while eating something good.

And where did the students spend this time? Obviously in the school cafeteria, one of the best facilities of the institution, and that would be even better if it weren't for the constant sound of conversations and laughter.

Because the students of all classes and classes mixed there, you could say that it was a particularly noisy place but good to be in case you had someone to talk to.

In Adrian's case, he was just reading the book from earlier while eating the apple he bought earlier. As said before, he almost didn't need to eat, so that apple would be enough for him.

Adrian didn't have any friends at that school. He didn't need it. They were all a bunch of clueless children who would only take away their peace and make their tortuous childhood life even more difficult.

It wasn't their fault, after all he was the adult of the situation, but he still preferred to be that way.

Normally, he would just be reading the random book he rented from the school library while ignoring the noise around him, but today, specifically today, he couldn't concentrate.

He didn't know why, but he kept reading Preston's thoughts. And every minute that passed, he felt more and more observed when listening to his thoughts.

Then, with a sigh, he closed the book, got up and walked towards Preston's table.

The table of the rich as it was called. It was where the students sat children of rich parents or as a financial situation above the other children. The other students did not approach because they felt intimidated by the expensive clothes and the "high-level conversations". Adrian didn't care about that.

Standing in front of the table and stopping right behind Preston, Adrian let his shadow hover before they finally noticed him, his height preventing him from being ignored.

Preston soon turned around with the most smug expression in the world and asked: "My dear Adrian, how can I help you today? "His smile and tone made it clear that he was mocking more than anything.

' Oh my goodness, he came to talk to me! I wonder what he wants? It was, I'm so nervous! '

But his mind betrayed him for the thousandth time that day alone.

Adrian really didn't want anything with him, he could have just ignored and continued his day as if it hadn't happened, but for some reason he decided to do the opposite. And he was already there, so there was no way to go back now.

Thinking of the most credible excuse he could find at that moment, a light in Adrian's head lit up when he had the perfect idea.

"Your drawings" Adrian replied in a purposely vague and ambiguous tone.

He didn't need to use his telepathy to see how confused Preston got.

"What do my drawings have? " Preston asked still with a smug expression but now a little more confused.

"Let me explain better. I started to be interested in drawings and art these days, but since I'm not good with any of these things, I wanted you to teach me " Adrian explained.

That wasn't a lie. Preston was the best of his class when it came to art, he was simply amazing at it and didn't even seem to make an effort.

As for Adrian, he was not bad, he was even decent, but the comparison between what he did and what Preston did was simply unfair, because Preston was simply better.

Adrian wasn't interested in art, he just wanted an excuse to spend more time with Preston and have more time to see what was on his mind, and it turns out that that was the easiest way.

"Do you want ME to teach you? Preston asked with a little laugh at the end "Okay, what do I get out of this? "

' Does he want to learn? YES! I waited so long for this day, miracles really happen! '

Adrian has never met someone who contradicted himself so much and so often.

"Well, you're always trying to prove that you're better than me at everything, and by asking you to teach me, I'm admitting that you're better than me art, which should be enough for your ego" Adrian replied "In addition, you'll still have the right to yell at me as much as you want if I do something wrong" He added with a smile.

Preston seemed to think for a while, but Adrian already knew he would accept.

"Okay, I accept" Preston replied with a victorious expression.

"Good. So is it going to be at your house or mine? " Asked Adrian shrugging his shoulders.

"Obviously in mine. I would never waste my valuable time just to go to your house "

"Cool" With this last sentence, Adrian just turned his back and went back to his table.

In the distance, you could still hear Preston's mental screams of joy. Honestly, they were kind of funny.
