As soon as Midnight announced the start of the round. Every team went after the targets they had planned. Each student displaying quirks and using them smartly to either immobilize the opponent or distract them long enough to snatch their headbands.
Present Mic commented "It hasn't even been a minute since the round started and we already have a few headbands snatched."
Kazuto and Jurota stood at one edge of the boundary. Just as Kazuto had expected, Shoto, Bakugo and Midoriya were charging towards them.
Present Mic commented "Only three teams are going after the first place. His display of power from earlier managed to scare away a lot of students."
Shoto's team took advantage of Iida's speed and were charging at Kazuto. Bakugo's team used Mina's quirk to make it slippery under her feet and using Bakugo's explosions, they were moving at high speeds. Midoriya's team used Mei's gadgets, her jetpack and her boots to move at speeds that matched the other two teams.
Jurota turned to his right to run from them when Kazuto looked at him and asked "What are you doing?"
"What does it look like I am doing? Running away from them." Jurota answered.
Kazuto looked at the three teams and said "Jurota, don't you know that offense is the best defence."
Jurota lookedt at the three teams charging at them and said "I hope you know what you are doing."
Jurota's muscles started tensing up. Kazuto felt the change in his body. In a few seconds, his whole body had bulked up. The fur covering his body also grew. Jurota, now completely transformed into his beast form, charged at the three teams.
Present Mic commented "Kazuto's teammate Jurota transformed into a beast and instead of running to keep their points, they are charging right at their opponents. What is Kazuto thinking?"
As soon as they got closer, Kazuto, with his observation haki, noticed Shoto's hand move and said "Jurota, jump to your right."
Jurota didn't know why, but did as he said. A second later, the place they were in earlier, had a small layer of ice.
"How did you...." Jurota wanted to ask, but Kazuto cut him off and said "jump back again".
Jurota jumped back again and a second later, weird white substance was on the ground. It was Mina's acid.
Kazuto said to Jurota "Make sure you are always to Shoto's left."
Midoriya used the distraction caused by the two teams and used the jetpack and boots at their max power to charged at Kazuto. Midoriya had his hand reaching for Kazuto's headband and since they were in Kazuto's blind spot, they were expecting it to work.
As his hand got closer to Kazuto'a forehead, Kazuto immediately moved his head back and looked at Midoriya. Midoriya zoomed past Kazuto and stopped a few metres away.
Midoriya said "I knew it wasn't going to be this easy, but we can confirm that he can sense his surroundings."
Midoriya's team turned back to face Kazuto and that's when they saw Kazuto had a headband around his neck.
Uraraka looked at Midoriya's forehead and said "Midoriya, your headband."
Present Mic commented "Kazuto stole Midoriya's headband while also dodging attacks from three teams. Kazuto is merciless."
Seeing Kazuto steal Midoriya's headband, Mina looked at Bakugo and said "Bakugo, maybe we should go for other teams and come back to Kazuto later."
"Do you want to die as well racoon eyes? We are definitely going to kill him and finish this round at the top." Bakugo said.
Bakugo looked at Kazuto when suddenly, he felt a hand on the back of his head.
Present Mic commented "Taking advantage of the chaos, Monoma from Class 1-B stole Bakugo's headband."
When Bakugo heard Present Mic, he understood what happened. Bakugo turned around and saw Monoma wearing their headband around his neck. Monoma had managed to take the headband by pulling it from the back, making it difficult for Bakugo to notice it getting stolen.
Monoma noticed Bakugo looking at him and let out a maniacal laugh "Hahahaha.... Class 1-A is so simple minded. When Midnight mentioned 'first round' we knew that they weren't going to eliminate many students, around 40 made sense. So, we made sure not to display our quirks and just made sure we were in the top 40."
Kirishima looked at him and said "You finished the first round as a class."
Monoma said "A few from our class didn't agree though."
Monoma's horse, Tsubaraba, looked up and said to Monoma "Monoma, let's not waste our time talking to him, you will be on the same level as him."
Monoma looked down and said with a mocking smile "You are right". He then turned to Bakugo and said "See you later. Next time, I want to hear how it feels to get attacked by villains every year, especially the sludge villain attack. Must've been humiliating."
Bakugo was fuming inside and it was also visible on the outside. Tiny explosions went off over his palms and he spoke in a deep voice "Kirishima, change of plans".
Kirishima looked at Bakugo and he could see rage in his eyes. He said "Bakugo, cal down. Only then we can regain our points."
Bakugo let out a small explosion and said "Forward Kirishima, I am very calm right now".
Kirishima looked ahead and said "We're counting on you" while running towards Monoma.
While this was happening, Shoto had closed in on Kazuto and they both just looked at each other.
Kazuto, while maintaining eye contact with Shoto, said to Jurota "Follow my instructions without fail. This idiot can get our headband if we are not careful."
Jurota, focused, looked at Shoto and nodded. Jurota was following what Kazuto said and positioned himself to Shoto's left. This would prevent Shoto from openly using his ice attacks on them, since Iida will be in the way.
Kazuto thought 'This is going to be interesting. On my own, these idiots wouldn't even make me sweat. Now that I have a teammate, the difficulty increased. I have to look out for Kaminari. Based on what I know, he can use his electric burst at full power once or at half power twice. They would've asked him to use only half power, since they also need him to defend when they get points. Or I could be wrong.'
Just then, he noticed Momo create a insulating sheet slowly from her back with his observation haki.
After she was done, Shoto immediately shouted "Now Kaminari" and sparks started from Kaminari's body.
Kazuto immediately shouted "Jump as high as possible". Kazuto wanted to break the closed circuit by jumping up from the ground.
Jurota did just that and when they were high up, Kazuto noticed that the power was way less than even one-fourth of Kaminari's power. That's when he realized, it was their plan to get him in the air.
"Jurota, they are after you" Kazuto said and immediately when he finished saying that, ice rose from the ground and approached them rapidly. Shoto planned to eliminate Jurota out of the picture, that would leave Kazuto with no way to escape.
Jurota shouted "What do we do?"
Kazuto held Jurota tightly with his legs and punched with all his strength to his right. This created air pressure that pushed him slightly to his left. The ice just barely scratched Jurota and they managed to escape the attack.
Kazuto immediately shouted "Jurota, you now have a path straight to our target".
Jurota, using his quirk as a beast, used the ice as runway and charged at Shoto. His claws dug into the ice and provided him the grip he needed. Shoto reacted in time and sent out another wave of ice, but now since Jurota had a solid platform to move, he easily dodged them and when he got close to Shoto, he jumped over him. Shoto had already released two huge waves of ice and the fatigue was getting to him, giving Kazuto an open window to get Shoto's headband.
Jurota landed behind Shoto and the crowd went crazy. Present Mic screamed "Kazuto and Jurota snatched Shoto's headband after an epic battle. With this we have reached the halfway point and except Kazuto, everyone from class 1-A have zero points."
Shoto glared at Kazuto, planning how to get their points back. He was interrupted by Momo "It would be better to go for other teams and increase our chances of winning."
Shoto glared at her, but then nodded and they shifted their focus to other teams.
Tokoyami looked at Midoriya and asked "Are we still going for Kazuto's points?"
Midoriya tightened his jaw and said "We have no other choice".
And just like that, Shoto, Bakugo and Midoriya were all fighting amongst themselves for the remaining points.
Present Mic said "All teams have given up on the 10 million points and are now fighting for the smaller points. Kazuto not only managed to keep his 10 million points, but also stole points from the teams after him."
Jurota said "That was crazy, but we now have space to breathe".
Kazuto said "Not so fast, your classmates are on their way after losing their points. Run fast to your right."
Jurota turned to his right and started running. A weird white substance was at their previous previous place. This was Kojiro's quirk from class 1-B. Jurota continued running and the ground behind him looked soft.
That was Juzo's quirk that can turn anything soft. Jurota stopped when the Kazuto talked his back. Kazuto asked "Who do I need to look out for?"
"Only Juzo and Kojiro can immobilize us. The rest have either offense or defensive quirks. Even though she isn't here, you should look out for Setsuna from our class. She can split her body parts and freely control them." Jurota said.
"Jurota, enough running. Charge at them." Kazuto said.
Jurota looked up and asked "Why? They don't have headbands."
"We need to set an example for others" Kazuto said.
Jurota again decided to follow Kazuto and charged at Kojiro's team. Manga Fukidashi from their team said "BONK!" and the letters literally appeared out of thin air above them.
Jurota was about to dodge, but Kazuto said "I will take care of that. You focus on Kojiro and his glue."
The letters closed in on Kazuto and that's when Kazuto observed Yui Kodai throw something at them.
It was something tiny, but it rapidly grew in size and the words 'BONK!' grew in size and approached them. They were bigger than the letters falling on them. This was Yui's quirk that could manipulate the size of objects.
Kazuto changed strategy. Initially he wanted to punch through the letters falling on him. Kazuto caught the letters and threw them at the ones approaching them.
The collision caused a huge dust cloud. Debris flew everywhere and Kazuto caught one flying towards him. Kojiro decided to take advantage of the dust cloud and started spraying his glue everywhere.
Kazuto said "Jurota, jump back and Jurota followed his instructions.
Present Mic said "Fukidashi and Yui used their quirks smartly and Kojiro didn't waste the opportunity and used his glue to immobilize Kazuto's team. A brilliant strategy. How will Kazuto get out of this situation?"
Exactly when Present Mic was done, Kazuto and Jurota jumped out from the dust cloud. Present Mic said "Kazuto again managed to escape."
Kojiro heard Present Mic and asked Yui "What do we do now? He is stronger than expected."
Yui just stared at Kazuto and noticed him holding something. She could tell that he was about to do something and said "Kojiro, he might attack. Be careful."
Kazuto threw the debris in his hand at Kojiro, admitted at his leg. None in their team reacted in time and the debris hit Kojiro's left leg. He lost control over his left leg for a few seconds. Since Kojiro was supporting Yui, the sudden loss of support caused him to topple to his left, bringing down Yui and Fukidashi with him.
