Chapter 256 - New Year’s Note & Apology to My Readers

Happy New Year, everyone! Here's to hoping this year is way better than the last. Let's aim to live past 2080, or even longer!

I would like to inform you that a new work is available. If you find it interesting, please consider adding it to your libraries: "I evolved as an intelligent zombie in the multiverse."

New Year's Note & Apology to My Readers

First of all, I want to say I'm genuinely sorry for having to bring this kind of news at the start of the New Year. This is not how I wanted to begin, and I owe everyone reading this clarity and honesty.

Over the past months, I had taken a short break from active writing and editing. During that time, due to a serious issue with my Google Drive storage, a large number of my working documents disappeared. These were not just drafts, but hundreds of scripted character notes, unfinished chapters, and chapters that were still waiting for final proofreading and polish.

Some of the chapters you were already reading were safely saved and published on the site, so those are not lost. However, a significant portion of my behind-the-scenes work — material that had not yet reached its final form — has suddenly disappeared.

Losing that much work is devastating, not just technically but creatively.

These weren't just files; they were long-term planning, character arcs, future reveals, and carefully layered ideas that took months to build.

Right now, I have done what I could to recover anything, and I didn't recover a shit, which is just devastating as it was the work of months. At the same time, I want to be honest: some parts may need to be rewritten from memory, reimagined, or rebuilt entirely.

So I want to ask you, my readers:

Would you prefer I take time to carefully rebuild the lost material, even if it means slower updates?

Or would you rather I continue forward, adapting and reshaping the story where necessary, even if some planned elements change?

Either way, this story is not fully abandoned. I care deeply about it, and I care about the people who invested their time, trust, and support into reading it.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for staying with me through an unexpected setback. I'll update you again soon with a clearer plan once I know exactly what can be recovered and what must be rewritten.

Thank you — and again, I'm truly sorry this happened.
