Chapter 39.

After hearing Xiaodou's confirmation, Li Yue didn't waste another word. By now, he had already brought Homelander high above the unfinished building he had just bought.

"This is the building you paid for. Naturally, you'll be the one to destroy it!"

With that one sentence, Li Yue didn't give Homelander a chance to speak. He ignored him completely, as if his intention was to finish him off for good. And honestly, it wasn't just a figure of speech—Homelander's red, furious eyes stared daggers at Li Yue, burning with rage and defiance.

Without hesitation, Li Yue flipped Homelander upside down and began a brutal dive toward the skeletal skyscraper below.

The force of freefall combined with Li Yue's own added power caused them to break through the sound barrier almost instantly.

The building—hundreds of meters tall and spanning dozens of floors—was incomplete but structurally built. It lacked doors and windows, but the framework was solid… or so it seemed.

Boom! Boom! Boom…!

A rapid series of thunderous impacts echoed through the city—each one a floor smashed by Homelander's face as they plummeted downward. Reinforced concrete crumbled like cheap plaster under the force of impact, chunks of debris scattering as if a meteor had struck.

BOOM!!!

In mere seconds, the two had torn through the entire structure, crashing all the way into the ground below and sending up a massive cloud of –dust and rubble. The resulting tremor shook the nearby streets.

People blocks away felt the shockwaves. Some thought it was an earthquake. Frightened, many ducked under tables or took cover, only to peek out minutes later when the ground had stopped trembling.

Li Yue and Homelander had hit the ground with such force that they left a pit several dozen meters deep. The building, overwhelmed by the damage, finally gave way and collapsed entirely.

Boulders and debris rained down around them, the crashing sounds deafening. Fortunately, the area had been evacuated and no civilians were hurt.

Of course, the rubble posed no real threat to either of them.

Li Yue stood in the center of the destruction, –gripping Homelander by the back of his neck with one hand. The once-mighty hero now dangled like a broken doll, limp and battered, completely stripped of his pride.

His famous blue costume was in tatters, barely covering anything. Blood flowed from countless wounds across his body.

"Damn," Li Yue said, lifting him higher to examine, "Your skin really is thick. Still didn't mess up your face."

He grinned mockingly. Of course, he would never admit that calling Homelander "thick-skinned" meant he might be even tougher than himself.

"But anyway," Li Yue muttered, his expression turning cold, "This has gone on for more than three chapters. Time to wrap it up before readers start complaining."

With that, he placed both hands on Homelander's head, preparing to snap his neck.

"Thunder… please wait!" Homelander suddenly pleaded, his voice hoarse, desperate. "We're both powerful. We're meant to rule this world. I have a plan—an actual plan! Let me live, and together we can conquer everything!"

Despite all his injuries, Homelander was still alive, though completely paralyzed. Li Yue's grip around his neck, combined with his electrically charged hands, had sent currents through his open wounds and disrupted his nervous system.

He couldn't even twitch a finger. He was helpless, begging for his life.

Even someone as proud as Homelander, once hailed as the nation's protector, feared death enough to bow his head in surrender.

Crack!!

"Sorry," Li Yue said flatly. "I'm not interested in your world domination plans."

He didn't hesitate, didn't drag things out like a typical movie hero. He simply twisted his wrists and snapped Homelander's neck with brutal finality.

But afterward, Li Yue wasn't sure how he felt.

Had he done this because Homelander killed innocent people? That should've been the reason—but somehow, it didn't feel like justice had been served.

No, the real reason, he realized, was personal.

Back when he was weak, he'd been forced to watch helplessly while Homelander killed without remorse. Li Yue had pretended not to care, pretended to be indifferent. But inside, he had hated his own powerlessness.

Now that he was strong, killing Homelander wasn't about saving others. It was about redeeming himself. Making up for his own cowardice.

He thought to himself, 'I'm still the same Li Yue. I can save strangers when there's no danger… but when things get real, I'll still choose myself first.'

Secondly, looking at Homelander's corpse—this so-called invincible figure of power—Li Yue realized something chilling.

No matter how strong he became, there was always someone stronger out there in the vast universe.

Right now, he seemed powerful, sure. But just like Homelander, he could one day end up crushed, his neck snapped by someone even stronger.

He shivered at the thought.

"…Damn, why am I thinking so deep all of a sudden? I've got teleportation! Worst case, I just run!"

And with that, he shook off the uneasiness and smirked again—Li Yue was back.

"How do I deal with his body?"

Li Yue pushed aside his messy thoughts. As he looked at the body of Homelander, he couldn't help but feel a headache.

Then, as he accidentally looked up at the sky, a bright idea flashed in his eyes.

"Right, that's it!"

Having thought of a solution, Li Yue immediately grabbed HOMELANDER's body. He bent his knees like a spring-loaded cannonball and launched himself into the sky, breaking through the sound barrier repeatedly. In just a few moments, he soared out of the Earth's atmosphere and entered the vastness of space...

Meanwhile...

"Oh my God! What happened here? Why did this entire building suddenly collapse?"

A crowd had gathered, drawn by the deafening noise and massive collapse of the Rotten Tail Tower. They arrived at the scene only to find a pile of rubble where the building once stood. Confusion and shock filled the air.

"I just saw someone flying above it—pretty sure it was HOMELANDER. Then the whole building collapsed! He must be behind it!"

"HOMELANDER again? Is he out of his mind? –What kind of superhero buys a building just to destroy it?"

"I found something!" a young man holding a smartphone shouted. "The building was just purchased minutes ago—and guess who the buyer was? HOMELANDER!"

"Unbelievable. Rich people are so weird–. Buy a whole building and demolish it for fun?"

"You don't get it. He's a superhero! Maybe he did it for us. That building took up a lot of space—maybe he plans to build public facilities there!"

"Yeah! HOMELANDER is amazing!"

As bystanders speculated, Li Yue had no idea what they were saying—and even if he did, he wouldn't care.

At that moment, Li Yue had already carried HOMELANDER's body into outer space. Looking down at the beautiful blue planet beneath his feet, he felt how insignificant it was in the boundless universe.

It was his first time in space, but he didn't feel the slightest discomfort. Perhaps it was due to his evolving body—he didn't even need to breathe.

The freezing temperatures, well below minus 200 degrees Celsius, didn't harm him. Instead, he only felt a fleeting chill on his back, which was quickly repelled by the heat radiating from within his body.

Facing the sun, without the Earth's atmospheric protection, he basked in its intense light and heat. The sun's radiation—several hundred degrees Celsius in intensity—bathed his chest in warmth, making his cells feel energized and alive.

Of course, Li Yue only had the power of a "knockoff Superman"—nothing like the real deal. He couldn't absorb solar energy to become infinitely strong like the original.

Still, the fact that he could survive in space made him feel very satisfied.

He gazed into the distance at the brilliant star at the center of the solar system. Then, with a single thought, Li Yue vanished with HOMELANDER's body.

When he reappeared, Li Yue had arrived at the heart of the solar system—floating just tens of thousands of meters from the surface of the Sun.

The Sun was massive—about 109 times the diameter of the Earth and over 1.3 million times its size. Li Yue couldn't even see its edges.

The scorching solar radiation—around 6,000°C—instantly vaporized all the remaining clothes on both him and HOMELANDER. But HOMELANDER was already dead, so it didn't matter. And Li Yue didn't care either.

The intense heat burned against his skin, but he only felt a momentary sting. His adaptive evolution ability kicked in, and the discomfort quickly faded.

"After I return to the Marvel Universe, I definitely need to visit Wakanda and get a Vibranium suit."

Li Yue made a mental note. He'd been too busy with dimensional travel after returning from Asgard and had forgotten. Now, in the burning light of the sun, it suddenly came back to him.

Shaking off the thought, he looked at HOMELANDER's body one last time.

He extended his arm and gave a gentle push. For someone of Li Yue's strength, even a "gentle" push sent the body hurtling at incredible speed toward the solar surface.

In the vacuum of space, there was no air resistance. Within seconds, the body was engulfed by the searing flames of the Sun, vanishing from sight.

"I hope in your next life, you'll become a real hero."

Li Yue said softly.

He had no deep hatred toward HOMELANDER. In truth, the man's origins were shrouded in mystery. He had no family, raised in a lab from birth. Maybe this fiery end was the most fitting conclusion to his tragic existence.
