Chapter 48 - [Chapter —48]

Markus waited for the remainder of the minutes left for his status to update, as soon as it did he sat up from his bed with a small anticipating frown.

[—Ding! System has been Updated!]

[—Change Logs :

- Status Screen has been remodeled and streamlined for better usability.

- Mission Logs have been updated — Missions aligned to your moral alignment have been made available to the user.

- Rewards have been reshuffled, narrowing down to items, traits and abilities better suited for the user's build while also factoring the random nature of the Core Systems Random Reward Function.

- Skill Ranking has been changed from the Alphabet Tier system to the Numerical Tier system to streamline Status Clogging.

- Abilities have been recalibrated to allow growth, this allows the user the capabilities to increase the power and usability of abilities like they would a skill but with a much higher tiering up sequence.

- Ability Ranking has been changed from the Alphabet tier system to the Numerical Tier system to streamline Status Clogging.

- Perks have been restructured, turning them into Traits imbued into the genes, minds or souls in some way in order to allow the user better usability with, allowing the user achieve feats that were normally not part of the Traits Core Descriptions.

- Perks have been granted Tier specialisation, allowing the user to see their rarity and universal tier.

- The Inventory Feature has been repurposed, allowing an infinite amount of System Items to be stored and taken out at the users leisure without fail while also adding 100 slots for any other items the user may need to store so long as the user can lift said item overhead himself.

- A Menu screen composed of every function the System has' has been created.

—System Notice - Initiate Changes into the Users being?[The User will go unconscious to facilitate the changes]

— Yes?/Yes?]

Markus scoffed as he read through the last line.

What was the point of giving him a choice in the matter if there was only one choice given?

Thinking about it though he was atleast appreciative of it, it would give him some time and initiative in the changes that were sure to come from the changes so he could make plans before it or in case he was in danger or in a crowd at the time, get somewhere safe.

So with that said, he quickly connected through his Hive of Clones, not knowing whether they too would be included in the update and thus be unconscious too even if they had some semblance of autonomy he granted them to not clog himself.

He gave them orders, bringing one of the 'Mad Doctor' clones to watch over him incase they didn't pass out like him.

With the clones and himself prepared, he breathed in deeply in anticipation and accepted the update.

And just like a light switch he felt his consciousness darken immediately, feeling his mind slow to a hull before a screen appeared before him, his last sight before even his thoughts were no more.

[—Update initiated!... Collecting Data.... Recalibrating Core System Functions....]

—[? Days Later]—

" Fuck!" Markus grunted, his body lethargic but mind as sharp as ever if not a bit better.

He put that thought at the back of his head for a second though, mentally feeling for his clones and sighing in relief after he got the mental ping that none of them were indisposed as he had.

He also got a mental a mental information dump on how many days he had been out of it, alongside what the clones had gotten to in the same time.

Smiling at that even if he had wasted time with his impromptu System update, his clones had still went on as normal— normal being to spy on the town, study and experiment with the little supernatural genetic material they had while also studying their lone captured ex-hunter.

They had also done renovations though, fortifying the Sigil Wards and adding more to it alongside upgrading their equipment to facilitate their abilities needs.

And on the note of renovations, his small cubic of space which was located at the corner of the warehouse was also renovated.

Everything having been repurposed and upgraded with the use of their growing catalogue of crafting skills and he now even had a computer in his room, looking slightly more advanced with the magical enhancements and runic or sigil scripts running through it.

His room wasn't the only thing upgraded though, the warehouse was fortified using scrap metal laying around to make it more difficult to break through, new rooms were created with the warehouse now being a two story amalgamation of a property.

There were plans to make an underground base too, though those plans would have to come later.

For now though he had other things to take care of, mostly being looking through his System.

He had already read through the change logs granted to him, now he simply had to see for himself and that's what he immediately did.

So he called forth his Status.

[—Menu—]

—[Status]—

—[Inventory]—

—[Missions]—

—[-]—

He scoffed seeing that no new function had been added, still being the same three options he had already had but with changes.

One change he was happy for though, that being his inventory function.

No longer will his System bar him from storing his things or items obtained through it after taking them out, heck, now he can put other things in them so long as he can lift them.

That to him was a boon in itself, with this he can now wait before he goes on to experiment and create 'storage items' with resources that he really didn't have much off.

But now it was time to see what became of his Status.

" Huh?" Markus exclaimed, a bit surprised at seeing the sudden lack of his other information.

Looking closely at his system he realised something quickly.

His system had been broken down to five separate screens, his statistical information laid in the first screen which was what he was seeing.

And for the most parts, everything was what it should've been while factoring in that he had been growing stronger in the time he had been in seclusion.

But then he noticed the second title he had.

' What the?'

He didn't stay confused for long though, as when he clicked on it and read through the information presented to him he cursed.

" Oh fuck off!? The fuck is this?!" He shouted at the top of his lungs, miffed and angered.
