Chapter 45 - Planet Umbrae - Day 4 Part 6

Sil and Layla stood on the large vine, her blade aimed at his face. He wasn't able to detect her despite having qi perception as an ability. He could only assume it was the result of the black sword's nullification. Sil then and there decided not to use his clones to attack her, afraid of going too far.

"You know, I never really trusted your sword, especially since it has a celestial marking on it," Sil spoke intently.

Layla didn't say anything, but held her stern glare. Sil had a feeling that this Layla might not actually be Layla as he was quite familiar with others taking control of his body. Something about the way she acted put him off.

Sil made the first move and commanded several vines to grow and surround Layla. They shot towards her, forcing Layla to move her attention to cutting them down. When the vines were gone, she then turned around to slice at Sil but he had teleported away at the bottom of the large vines. He looked up to see her flying above him, and she flew down, slashing her sword at him. Sil teleported a few feet away again.

Again and again, Layla flew to wherever Sil teleported to. It surprised him how quick she could move in the air. Even using a speed ability and teleportation, it seemed like she was able to catch up in no time.

Using foresight, he saw where her next move was going to be. Right as Layla was flying at him, Sil flung his arms upwards, causing several roots to take hold of her, slowing her down.

Before she could recover, he slammed Layla into the ground with the roots, causing the entire temple to shake as a large crater formed around her body.

Sensing no movement from her, Sil ran up to her body, making the roots let go of her, and swapped out an ability for healing. He checked her wrist to thankfully find a heartbeat, and began to heal her. Still, he had several more smaller roots primed and ready incase she was to attack him again.

Layla groggily opened her eyes, her vision blurried. She mumbled a simple "Mmuh…?" Before falling back asleep.

Sil flew back to his larger ship, back to planet Umbrae. He ran to the medical room, following behind him was an unconscious Layla being lifted with telekinesis. Hearing the commotion, Swinn followed the sounds, and spotted Sil placing a woman with horns onto a medical bed.

"What happened? Who is she?" Swinn asked worriedly.

Sil turned around, surprised by the sudden intruder in his space. He let out a quick sigh remembering who it was before returning his gaze to Layla.

"She's someone from my planet. I don't know what she's doing out here, but something is wrong."

Sil then reached over for a communicator, and began typing away.

[Log 208,759] {Sil} Logan, Vicky!

{Sil} Guys, it's important!

{Logan} What's going on?

{Sil} It's Layla, I found her all the way out here.

{Vicky} Haha, real funny, now what's actually happening?

{Sil} I AM!

{Logan} Describe what happened. What's her condition?

{Sil} She attacked me suddenly, and I fought her off. I tried to heal her, and I'm sure she's alive, but she's not waking up.

{Vicky} Oh shit.

{Logan} Sil, I need you to scan her and send the files over to me. I will do my best to examine her condition from here.

{Sil} On it.

Immediately, Sil got up and searched around the medical room. The place was relatively small, with light blue walls and white cabinets. Not only that, but the counters were marbled a dark gray.

He opened up a cabinet, and took out a grey handheld machine before closing it and aiming it at Layla. A green light projected outwards onto her body, and a few numbers appeared on the machine's screen.

Once it was done running the numbers, Sil pressed a button, and out came a thin cable that he connected to his messaging device.

{Sil} I'm sending the file information now.

{Sil} Scan_163.txt

{Logan} I will be examining it this second.

{Vicky} Is it actually her? Not some illusion one of those celestials made?

{Sil} I recognize that sword anywhere, there's no way she's not Layla.

{Vicky} Should we get Vorden and Raten here?

{Sil} Not yet, we don't know the full situation, and it's better to tell them all at once.

{Logan} After examining the information, I can conclude that Layla will be fine. However, she has overworked herself. You need to supply her with nutrients now.

{Logan} SubjectLnutrients.rep

{Logan} I sent a file of the most ideal solution to aid her. Is your replicator fixed?

{Sil} It is.

{Logan} Get your replicator to make one.

Sil then looked up from his device and looked at Swinn, concern etching his very body. He telepathically sent a message over to his clone, then walked up to the chiropteran.

"Is she going to be alright?" Swinn cautiously asked, looking over the unconscious woman.

"She will, I'm already having someone get her help."

Soon enough, Towel ran into the room holding an IV solution with a pearlescent purple coloration to it, and handed it to Sil. He hooked it up on a stand, and injected it into her. Once that was done, Sil typed away at his device.

{Sil} I got her on the IV, now what?

{Logan} Despite my many years of researching Richard Eno's logs, I am no doctor.

{Logan} What I am able to understand from your scans is that Layla had traversed a long distance to get to where you found her, and that she did so without taking any breaks, resulting in the lack of nutrition.

{Logan} Thankfully, Layla is a vampire subclass and is incredibly resilient too. She will be fine if you continue to give her nutrients regularly.

{Logan} Layla should at most be bed ridden for a week, and at least a day if my calculations are correct.

{Vicky} Doesn't she feed off of negative energy? If you just think bad thoughts next to her, she'll probably wake up in no time.

{Sil} I don't know if that's how it works.

{Logan} You can try if you so desire as doing so will provide no consequences aside from a potentially foul mood. Still, I would not personally recommend it.

{Sil} Thanks for the help, Logan.

{Logan}

{Logan} If you can, provide regular updates on her well being. We still do not know why she traveled all the way out there.

{Logan} My best guess would be that she tried to find Sam, but if she attacked you, then there may be reason to believe it can happen again. I urge you to be cautious.

Sil didn't know what Logan was so worried about since he was easily able to dispatch Layla even after a fight with a celestial. Still, the reason behind her being easily taken care of was likely the result of being weakened from traveling for so long. He recalled the time that she disappeared compared to now, and it made him wonder if she traveled that distance without a personal ship like he did.

"Swinn, you should leave," Sil began, "Layla— my friend here, has tried to attack me. Thankfully, I'm strong enough where it shouldn't matter if she goes after me, but you don't seem like the fighting type."

Swinn nervously chuckled "Oh come on, I'm not that weak," he flexed his arms to try to show off his muscles, but they simply looked like thin sticks. Swinn dropped his arms, solemnly looking at Layla, "But…you're not just going to leave her here alone, are you?"

Sil shook his head, "I'm going to need to lock her up in this room. I'm thankful that my ship's constructor used some of the strongest material from my home solar systems, so any locked room works as well as a jail. I'll have a clone and a camera on to keep an eye on her just in case. As much as I would love to wait until she wakes up, it's likely going to take a few days before I can ask her any questions."

The two left the room, but not before Sil placed a note for Layla to read when she recovered detailing where she is, and to not panic. Swinn went home soon after Sil gave him a hefty payment.

Now that Sil was alone, he turned on a computer screen, and opened the program to create a new log.
