Thane
I, Joshua, Wanda and wale were all seated at church an hour before the time that the church meetings would start. It was something that we had gotten accustomed to so that we could bond and discuss before church started.
"So that lady that broke her glass reward and dramatically left the stage like she had seen a ghost, is your wife?" wanda said as she crossed her legs and laid her hands back on the bench.
"Yes."
" I thought when the two of you meet, it would be a rather lovely seen. I did not expect her to be that scared of you." Wale said while reading the bible, he prioritized his bible study before church when we gathered really early. Adding his own opinion and going back to the holy book.
"She must think you are the same person, cheer up Thane! She will come around " Joshua said, patting my back lightly, I felt comforted; I could always count on Joshua for comfort and encouragement.
" Why would she want to come around? I mean, you must have hurt her deeply. If I was to be in her shoes, I would have done the same. I would forgive you but I would make sure to avoid you with all that is within me." Wanda said under one breath, I felt an impetuous wave of worry come over me, her words were not minced at all. Wanda did not bother hiding any of her thoughts from anyone. She was free and expressive.
" I do know, if I was to also be in her shoes, I would also do the same but I am not going to give up." I said, trying to comfort myself.
After she spoke, she looked at me with the same face she would give me at work when I want to review her work. " I am sorry." She said curtly and looked to the side where other people sat like someone had called her name over there. she was aware of how brazen she could be. My joy was that she recognized it as a flaw and went for therapy sessions every end of the month.
" Wanda you really are something, you should have thought before you spoke, huh? That is why the bible talks about in James 3 verse 8 but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil full of deadly poison. Do you want to poison our boss here? I mean, do you know what it means to be separated from your lover for a whooping five years? Do you know how many women send confession letters to our boss through his email. He did not budge to anyone of them, his heart beat only for his wife and no one else. I can only imagine what our boss is going through?" I massaged the back of my neck, and I held my smile but I am sure people could still read that I was smiling. He did not really have to lash out at her like that, I wasn't really bothered. i wanted to say something when Wanda got up and lashed out at Joshua.
" Hey Josh, it is not fair, I apologized…I – I did, why do you sound like someone who has been in a relationship before?" I saw a look of amusement on her face while she asked. I smiled and I folded my arms, I felt intrigued whenever they had arguments like these. Just playfully pinching one another but not enough to make any of us argue verbally. Just light perks and remarks.
" Hey, no wait, Just because he talks about christ's love and quotes scriptures doesn't mean he is a saint completely. I saw him with a beautiful lad jumping up and down the whole villa literally." Wale lowered his bible and he quipped playfully.
Joshua scratched his head and smiled while closing his eyes. " I caused some casualty to her so I accompanied her as a sort of penance."
" I see penance indeed." Wale looked at him and got back to reading.
" Joshua really? Who is she?" I was eager to hear about this lady that Joshua was seen walking with in the party.
" um, like I said. She is someone that I was indebted too, she is outgoing, a bonhomie and lively anyways soo…I think she would make a great evangelist."
" Ehen, he is using that to cover up, I all tell ya." Wale pointed at him with his hands moving like a bee going from flower to flower
" Well, you aren't getting any younger. Look at your beards growing a white hair." Wanda said pointing at the white hair that seemed to be invisible to me. I noticed that he could not stop smiling. I wondered if he was happy about finding an evangelist partner or he was happy about us teasing him about his relationship with the villa girl.
" wow that sounds great, did you collect her number? I was curious.
" Boss , oh I didn't , I should."
" Hallelujah church" I heard the bishop come up to stage. And i turned around and the chairs around us were already full. Time really does flies.
" Praise the lord!!!" I, Joshua and wanda chorused. I could hear our voices stand out as for wale, he must have phlegmatically shouted his to himself. I smiled, my heart raced at the thought of peace being next to me in church right here.
Peace
I woke up and I got out of bed still feeling somnolent. I opened my door the sitting room and I could see Nancy adjusting her bow and putting on her glasses at the mirror; she was tiptoeing like a ballerina and moving to a song that I wasn't hearing. I could see Nathan, holding the bible and reading it while crossing his legs; He was all dressed. Nelson was talking to the wall in his suit, reaching out his hands to shake it as if the walls would protrude out a hand to hold his palms.
" Hey, I am Nelson, Jesus is my best friend. Who is yours?" i smiled and I held myself in my arms. They all got ready without me coming to wake them up.
" Wow! you all are already dressed up. I guess I am the ones who you'd be waiting for." I sat down on the sofa next to me to announce my prescence.
" Mummy, mummy mummy. Good morning to youuuuuu" Nancy ran to me to give me a hug. I held her tightly and I carrased her hair.
" Your hair is getting longer"
" yes it will be as long as Samson's"
Nathan and nelson rushed to my side and hugged me, I felt like a hot dog wrapped in between bread.
" Good morning mom." The both of them chorused together.
" Good morning my sweethearts, God's beloved. Thank you for making my Sunday easier and stress free. And you all paired your clothes nicely. Looking Good." Nancy, gave a spin in her pink dress, Nathan with his grey hoodie just held the rim of the hoodie and Nelson was dressed in a suit I had gotten for both him and Nathan when I went for a friends wedding early this year.
I gave them a thumbsup.
