Angel had sensed the men even before they entered the hall of their house, not recognizing them, and seeing them holding blades, he had called to Evenly to tell her, but his voice only made the men look up at the railings, noticing him looking down at them.
"They're up there, get them!" ordered one of the men, who looked like the one leading the rest.
Evenly felt her heart give a thud, and she got up to her feet, pulling Angel away from the railings to her side.
"What's going on, Evenly?" came Rav's voice from behind the door. "Who came in?" he asked, pushing himself to stand despite the pain that became intense with any small movement he made, but he ignored the pain when he knew his wife-to-be and little nephew might be in danger. He could hear the voices of men he didn't recognize and their loud footsteps running up the stairs.
