Snowmobiles zoomed across the ice, kicking up clouds of snow. Behind them, the Revenant-Vega hybrid roared, shaking the ground with each step. Its icy body towered over the frozen wasteland, its glowing green eyes locked on the team.
"Faster!" Jack yelled, gripping the handlebars.
Lena clung to him as her breath trembled. "It's gaining on us!"
A crack splits the ice ahead. Jack swerved, barely avoiding a plunge into freezing water.
CRASH! A chunk of ice hurled by the Revenant exploded in the vicinity.
"We're not gonna make it!" Finch screamed from the snowmobile.
Captain Rook pointed ahead and said, Look "There! The ship!"
An old research ship was trapped in the ice, its rusty hull covered with snow. The team skidded to a stop and scrambled to board.
The Ghost Ship
The ship's deck creaked beneath their feet, and the floor was littered with broken equipment. A faded sign read: ARCTIC DAWN—LOST IN 1955.
"This place gives me the creeps," Jax muttered.
Finch finds a control room. "Guys! There's a weapon here—a sonic cannon! The files say it can shatter ice… or static!"
Rook frowned. "Will it work on that?" She nodded at the porthole. Outside, the Revenant-Vega loomed, smashing through the ice.
"Only one way to find out!" Finch types on a dusty keyboard. "Need to power it up!"
Lena had slumped against the wall. "I'm too weak to help…"
Jack spotted a glowing panel. "What's this?"
ZAP! The panel shocked his hands. A hologram flickered—a scientist in an old laboratory coat.
"If you are seeing this, Project Rebirth has failed. The sonic cannon is our last hope to save the planet. But beware—it requires a living battery."
The hologram vanished.
Vega's Fight
The Revenant-Vega slammed its fist into the ship. Metal groaned.
"GIVE ME THE GIRL!" It boomed, and Vega's face twisted in its chest.
"Vega's still in there!" Lena said. "I can feel her!"
Jack grabbed a cable from the sonic cannon. "Finch, hook this to the power grid! Rook, aim the cannon! Jax—get ready to fire!"
The Revenant-Vega punched through the hull, grabbing Lena with an icy claw.
"NO!" Jack lunged, hacking at the claw with a pipe.
Lena's hands glowed dimly. "Vega! Fight it!"
"I… CAN'T…" Vega's real voice gasped.
Power Up
Finch then connected the cables. "The cannon needs a charge! Someone has to be the battery!"
Rook stepped forward. "Do it."
"No!" Jack said. "It'll kill you!"
Lena struggled with the grip of the Revenant. "Use me! I'm already linked to it!"
Before anyone could stop her, Lena grabbed the cables. Green light surged through her, reviving her glow.
"LENA, DON'T!" Jack yelled.
She screamed as energy poured into the cannon. "FIRE NOW!"
The Blast
Rook aimed. Jax hit the button.
BOOOOOOM!
A sonic wave blasted from the ship and hit Revenant-Vega. Its icy body cracked awith a static screech. Vega's face flickered.
"YOU… WILL… PAY…"
The Revenant shattered and collapsed into a green puddle. Vega dropped to the ice, motionless.
"VEGA!" Jack and Lena slid down to her.
Vega's eyes opened—normal again. Her arm was frostbitten, but she was human. "Did… we win?"
A rumble answered. The ice split and swallowed the green puddle. The ship groaned as it tilted toward the water.
"Uh-oh," Jax said. "We're sinking!"
Escape
The team sprinted to the snowmobiles as the ship slid into the ocean. They raced away, cracking the ice behind them.
Finch looked back. "The Revenant's gone… right?"
A green spark shot from the sinking ship and vanished into the sky.
Lena shivered. "Not forever."
Vega leaned on Jack. "Thanks for not giving up on me."
He smiled. "Never."
New Danger
Back at their base, Finch scanned the surrounding area. "Guys… the sonic blast woke up something else under the ice."
The monitor displayed a massive, worm-like shadow moving underground.
"Another monster?!" Jax groaned.
Rook loaded her gun. "Worse. That's no monster."
The screen zoomed in. The shadow had a human face.
Subject Zero.
