Katherine's POV
I dabbed the makeup on my face, careful to enhance my features more than I looked. I had to look super beautiful. I had to.
"Are you going somewhere?" Susan asked as I stepped out of my bedroom.
I sighed, wishing I hadn't run into her. Why was she always there anytime I needed to do something secretive?
I kept my face blank while I searched my brain for a lie. "I'm going to Jack's office. I'm bored at home."
"You should have gone with him when he left ten minutes ago."
As if I didn't know that made more sense. She didn't have to point it out but I ignored her.
"I had no idea he would leave that early."
She gave me a strange look which I rightly deserved. I knew the exact time Jack left home. Why couldn't I come up with a better excuse for why I was leaving home hardly minutes after my husband left?
I knew she knew that I was trying to avoid Jack and hoped that she wouldn't call me out on my lie.
